Hello, My name is Elena.
I am a sophomore at Fullerton College hoping to pursue a higher degree in History.
I am the current publicity chair of the NSLS Chapter for Fullerton College.
A Youth Counselor for St. Gregory the Great Church from 2018-2019.
What I have planned for the future is going to involve hard work and determination. Growing up with a learning disability hasn't stopped me from achieving my goal, instead, it's built me to be a stronger person. I want to teach future generations yet to come about where we came from and where we grew. Using a scholarship will allow me to strive my goals towards one direction and accomplishing what I have planned for the future.
The most passionate thing to me is my major history, it holds a deep place in my heart as it led me towards my dream career that would allow me to continue and further the subject towards a bigger level.
In 2018, I was offered a chance to visit D.C. with an organization called the NYLF that leads young minds towards the great careers of government and history work. Throughout the trip, to the Capitol, I realized every artwork or statue at the Capitol holds a story behind it, no matter how big or small it is, it represents an important part of our nation’s history. It was truly a great experience that gave me the courage to go into this career and find my passion for it. I hope to grow by studying this as it will enable me to better understand the world in which we live.

Bold Legacy Scholarship
When it comes to holding a legacy or title in this world, nobody ever holds back to show their creative side. Many want to be remembered as it is expressed in different forms such as actors, musicians or comedians. I believe the most important legacy anybody could hold is the art of teaching younger people. That is the legacy I desire to have. To hold a memory for teaching kids the right and wrong doings in life. Being in touch with history, I want that for future generations as well, From going to Thomas Jefferson's house of Monticello, to viewing the artwork on the ceiling of the capitol. I found it breathtaking. During that whole trip, I wouldn't want to go back home because there was so much coming from the statues and artwork around me that I just wanted to learn more about it and where it came from. As I first discovered my endearment for it at a young age, it lead me to where I hope to grow in the future. as it has shown me that I want to be a tour guide at the Capitol in D.C. one day, to teach young generations today the legacy and history that stands behind our country.
Bold Future of Education Scholarship
Being that I am a history Major, The subject holds a very special place in my heart as I’ve grown to love it over the years. When I was thirteen, I got the opportunity to go on a trip to D.C. that my school was having during the eighth grade. I knew I couldn’t pass on something like that, it seemed like a new experience to travel across the country. There I witnessed different areas of history. It changed my view on it from then on. From going to Thomas Jefferson's house of Monticello, to viewing the artwork on the ceiling of the capitol. I found it breathtaking. During that whole trip, I wouldn't want to go back home because there was so much coming from the statues and artwork around me that I just wanted to learn more about it and where it came from. Then, I realized every artwork or statue at the Capitol holds a story behind it, no matter how big or small it is, it represents an important part of our nation’s history. As I got into high school, my mind expanded during that subject. I was reading books from the renaissance era to the great depression. During the summer between my sophomore year and junior year of high school, I was given the opportunity recommended by my teacher to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum. It was a program that brought young mind’s to meet and interact with experts of government work and different career paths similar to it. From that day on, history holds a very special place in my heart, as it has shown me that I want to be a tour guide at the Capitol in D.C. one day, to teach young generations today the legacy and history that stands behind our country.

Most Likely put it towards my experience goals I want to accomplish, a better chance to achieve my dream career is the amount of experience I have in the right area. With the money, I would use it to travel to D.C. and apply for the internships they offer at the Capitol. Learning is one of my most important passions when it comes to education. It has shown me what I want to achieve in life even though some things may slow me down. Growing up, it was difficult for me to learn as much as my fellow class mates around me. It took me some time up until the seventh grade to know that I was different, which made me stay in mixed grade classes most of the time. As well as have a speech impediment which is stuttering, that got worse and worse when I public speak during a presentation, got nervous around others, or simply just ordering food at a drive-thru. It was one of my toughest weaknesses to overcome. As these past 2 years went on as the pandemic hit, it gave me an opportunity to connect with myself on a deeper level. I started to practice more with my speech by talking faster and taking exercises on Youtube. During this time now, I have better control over my disabilites. My speech impediment only comes once in a while, and my disability of learning has helped me wit resources from my school. I believe I would make a great candidate for this scholarship because it would give me the opportunity to grow as a person, and pursue my happiness in the future. When I was thirteen, I got the opportunity to go on a trip to D.C. that my school was having during the eighth grade. When it comes to dream jobs in this world, we dream so much growing up. Education is one of those main goas we have to accomplish in order to get there. It gives us the ability to learn more and more about the world. As it opened up my love for history. I knew I couldn’t pass on something like that, it seemed like a new experience to travel across the country. There I witnessed different areas of history. It changed my view on it from then on. If I want to achieve this goal I have for the future, it's going to involve hard work and determination. I am currently majoring in History and hoping to achieve my associates in arts for transfer degree, to then transfer to a four year university and get my Bachelors degree there. I do plan on moving out to D.C. once I achieve my associates degree because there's more jobs that involve the degree. About two years ago in my junior year of high school, I was offered a chance to visit D.C. with an organization called the NYLF that leads young minds towards the great careers of government and history work. It was truly a great experience that gave me the courage to go into this career. I plan on taking that same internship over this upcoming summer except I'm going to be the one to teach younger kids about the journey there and to get well acquainted with the experience in history. As well as take a look at other sides of history because studying this will enable me to develop a better understanding of the world in which we live. In conclusion, Building knowledge and understanding of historical events and trends, especially over the past century, enables me to develop a much greater appreciation for current events today. History is more than just the living record of nations, leaders, and wars. It’s also the story of us. It’s packed with tales of how someone stood up for what they believed in, or died for love, or worked hard to make their dreams come true.
From that day on, history holds a very special place in my heart, as it has shown me that I want to be a tour guide at the Capitol in D.C. one day, to teach young generations today the legacy and history that stands behind our country.
