Bio

I am a working wife and mother currently on the path to completing my Master's degree in Human Resource Management. My ultimate goal is to complete a Doctoral degree in Communications and study the impact of African American people in predominately Caucasian spaces. After my Master's, I would like to become a director of Human Resources at a mid-sized company in order to improve the culture and advocate for employees in minority groups. I love playing the piano, baking and visiting stunning cityscapes.

    I Can Do Anything Scholarship
Whether I am working my dream job, taking care of my husband and children, or traveling to my ideal vacation spots, my future self is the best version of me because I have dedicated each day to improving by just 1% more than the day before, so that I can overcome any obstacle in my way.
    Healing Self and Community Scholarship
Recently, I have embarked on a personal journey toward mental wellness. After battling depressive episodes and regular anxiety attacks during my undergraduate career, I realized that I was ignorant of the effects that mental illness has on daily life. As a female African-American member of a predominately Caucasian Christian congregation, I have navigated numerous barriers while trying to live cohesively with so many seemingly contradictory identities. As a community leader in my church, I have had the opportunity to speak to people of all ages about my personal experiences navigating the intersections of race, gender, religion, and mental health. In a community where a perspective like mine is rarely shared, I have spoken candidly in individual classes, community conferences, and Sunday gatherings about the importance of mental health maintenance, as well as about advocacy for those who desire to help others in similar situations as mine. I continue to use my platform for mental wellness advocacy. I strive to use my perspective to inspire those around me. My goal is to stress the importance of finding healing, while not negating the realities of lived experiences. My opportunities to teach have led to more awareness and understanding in my community. I hope to continue to bring hope and healing to those around me as I share my journey with others.
