FinalistBio
I am a dreamer, an artist, and an idealist for the future.
Eager to change the world for the better, I aim to become a licensed cognitive behavioral therapist, who uses art as a tool for inner healing. Climate change and the environment are also issues that I hold close to my heart, so I hope to make an impact on the cause whether it be through policy or through the art and literature movement.
This is why I applied to become a part of my local International Baccalaureate World School. My experience there has opened up my worldview to new perspectives and a variety of opportunities that I feel extremely lucky to have.
My hope is that my education will allow me to continue to reach beyond in my career so I may make our world a better place for us, and for generations to come. I believe in a world where we can all coexist with each other, with technology, and with mother nature.

Throughout my life I have seen the effects of our world’s declining mental health. Although we live in times of uncertainty and instability, the artist in me wants to believe in the healing power of coming together to create, share, and bond over art. However, in order for me to use my career to create spaces where this healing is possible, I understand that I need to learn how the human mind works, and what tools I have at my disposal to guide others through difficult times.
In a world that is often isolating and unforgiving, I believe that therapy is a crucial part in healing the world. This is why I want to become a therapist, someone who specializes in guiding those who feel alone to see that they do not have to be. My dream is to use my love for the arts, whether it be art, music, or creative writing, to learn about my clients and create a connection with others that will help them thrive. I strongly believe that the arts can heal people, and that the synthesis of art and human psychology is a vital connection that benefits our wellbeing as human beings. Even outside of my job as a therapist, I would love to become a part of other public services, including the environmentally focused aspects of public service. My hope is that even outside of my job I can continue to contribute to a hopeful future. Even if in the end I am only able to help one person, I feel that it is worth working to become a therapist.
My past experience in therapy is what solidified my goals and ambitions for my future career. As someone who struggles with emotional wellbeing and its effects on your physical health, therapy provided me with strategies to cope with these struggles, and gave me hope for a better future. I realized that therapy is not just about fixing problems, but finding ways to live with yourself and see a better, brighter future for yourself and those around you. However, I also noticed that my experience in therapy was not universal. Many of my friends were against therapy because of their own traumatic experiences with it. This gap in mental healthcare made me realize why I needed to follow this career path. In hopes of providing life changing experiences like I had, I aim to become a licensed therapist so I can change the lives of those around me, and maybe even change the mental healthcare system for the better.
Through my journey so far to becoming a therapist, I have also realized how vital they are. I would not be where I am today without the many therapists that have contributed to my personal growth and success. To be part of that community would be an honor, and to be able to provide others with another chance at their dreams would be even more so.

In a world that is often isolating and unforgiving, public service workers are a crucial part in bringing us together and healing the world. Even if in the end I am only able to help one person, I feel that it is worth working to become a therapist and a public service worker.

Through my journey so far to becoming a public service worker, I have also realized how vital public service workers are. I would not be where I am today without the many teachers who taught me about this world, the firefighters, and even the crossing guards who ensure safe neighborhoods. These are the people who create the backbone of our society, who keep it functioning to keep us safe and grant us opportunities to chase our dreams. To be part of that community of people would be an honor, and to be able to provide others with another chance at their dreams would be even more so.
