WinnerAs a mother and adult student, returning to school to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse is both a professional and personal decision that reflects my deep commitment to both my family and my community. After several years of working as an eye technician, I realized that I wanted to broaden my skill set and expand my ability to care for others. Nursing offers an opportunity to make a more significant impact on people’s lives, and I am eager to take on the challenges and rewards that come with this important role.
Being a mother has shaped how I approach my education in profound ways. I understand that the best way to teach my children the importance of perseverance, hard work, and education is to lead by example. When I balance my responsibilities as a mother, wife, employee, and student, I practice self-discipline and focus. I know that the example I set now will not only help me succeed but will also inspire my children to value their education and continue their learning beyond high school. I want them to see that it’s never too late to pursue one’s passions and that education is a lifelong journey, no matter the challenges we face.
As an adult learner, I have developed a deep sense of responsibility and motivation. Unlike traditional students, I approach my studies with a clear understanding of how they will shape not only my future but also the future of my family. Balancing work, motherhood, and school is undoubtedly demanding, but I view every challenge as an opportunity to grow and improve. I know that my ability to manage these responsibilities will only serve to enhance my skills as a nurse, where time management, compassion, and resilience are essential qualities.
Nursing has always felt like the right career path for me. My experience as an eye technician has given me a solid foundation in patient care, but I am eager to expand my knowledge and take on more responsibilities within the healthcare field. As a registered nurse, I will have the opportunity to make a more significant difference in the lives of my patients, offering comfort, support, and medical expertise in their times of need. I am especially interested in working in patient care where I can provide both physical and emotional support to individuals navigating difficult health challenges.
This scholarship would be instrumental in helping me achieve my goals. It will allow me to continue my studies without the added stress of financial strain, and enable me to focus on what truly matters—acquiring the skills and knowledge necessary to become a competent and compassionate nurse. With this education, I will not only be able to provide for my family but also contribute meaningfully to the well-being of others in my community.
Ultimately, I hope that my journey back to school serves as a reminder to my children—and to others in similar situations—that it’s never too late to follow one’s dreams. The hard work, sacrifices, and resilience required to balance family, work, and education are the very qualities that will make me a compassionate and dedicated nurse. I am excited about the opportunity to give back to my community and be a positive role model for the next generation.
Thank you for considering my application. This scholarship will play a vital role in helping me achieve my dream of becoming a Registered Nurse and making a lasting impact on the lives of others.
Joy Of Life Inspire’s AAA Scholarship
I am determined to break the cycle of violence and poverty that has plagued my family for generations. I am determined to be a shining example of strength and resilience, just like a diamond.
Poor family dynamics taught me how resilient I was as a child and teenager. My mom was killed at the hands of my father when I was one. I was then raised by my grandma in a rough neighborhood along with my siblings. This environment was tough to live in but it made me very strong. I learned to be remarkable and shine no matter what my circumstances are.
My grandma passed away when I was 16 years old. This was devastating but I knew I was a strong and I could navigate the obstacles ahead of me. I learned to make the best out of any situation. Being in survival mode taught me how to bend without breaking.
My experiences have also taught me the importance of being outgoing and open to new opportunities. Despite the challenges I have faced, I have always been willing to try new things and step out of my comfort zone. This has allowed me to grow and learn, and has opened up doors that I never thought possible.
Surviving extreme trauma has helped shape me into the person I am today without defining my destiny. I I have faced hardship my entire life but I have always stayed true to who I am and my goals. I have also learned the importance of showing empathy and being kind, especially to people in times of vulnerability. Being the light within my own tunnel has allowed me to shine bright enough to offer guidance and encouragement to others as they navigate through their own journeys. It is my hopes that continuously operating from a place of understanding and love will help those around me find piece and strength within themselves.
My name reminds me of the importance of being inspirational. I strive to inspire others through my actions and words, showing them that no matter what challenges they face, they have the strength and courage to overcome them.
So, when people mispronounce my name, I kindly correct them and explain the significance behind it. My name is Dymonique, like a diamond, because I am strong, unique, and rare. And just like a diamond, I will continue to shine bright and inspire others to do the same.
MISS Award
My name is Dymonique. I have been an ophthalmic technician for 6 years. In my current role I assisted ophthalmologists from different sub specialities diagnose and treat eye disease. I would like to broaden my skill set and help people on an even deeper level as a bedside nurse. I am currently seeking my bachelors degree in registered nursing. Helping patients with their eye health and vision really brings me joy and I would like to reach more people and help in more ways working as an inpatient nurse.
I am an adult learner. I attended college right after high school but I was not in a good place mentally, emotionally or financially to be make career defining decisions which eventually led me to drop out. I had a traumatic childhood. My mom was killed by my dad when I was one and my grandma who raised me died from cancer when I was 16. My sister who was 18 at the time became my legal guardian. We were both very young without a stable foundation so we were homeless for about a year. Right after we got settled, I graduated high school a semester early and started college right away at 17. About a year later I realized I was more lost than ever before and I needed help. I could not manage working full time and being a student as well.
At 20 years old I became a mom and I continued working. A few years later I welcomed a second child. I started working in my current carrier as an eye technician and I was learning a lot. At this time I also married my long time partner. The stability in my career and marriage brought a calmness to me. After a a few more years and a third child, I decided to go back to school and further my education with the proper support I need to complete my goals.
Being a mother has taught me so many things. Especially since I did not have a mother growing up. This had been the most rewarding and challenging “job” I have ever had. I am their garden. It is my job to provide them what they need in order to succeed. I know the importance of doing my job properly. Raising mentally, emotionally and physically healthy children is top priority. What I’m learning most is the importance of being the person I needed most growing up. I am foundation for my kids.
