Becoming the captain during my senior year brought fresh challenges, teaching me the value of quick decision-making and adaptability. Both baseball and soccer have been more than just games; they've been platforms for personal growth, resilience, and leadership development. Balancing my love for sports, I've also excelled academically, earning a spot in the National Honor Society. This has opened doors to community service, allowing me to give back beyond the field. Juggling academics with sports leadership taught me important skills like time management and discipline. As a National Honor Society member, I've actively participated in community service projects, learning the importance of making a positive impact beyond the sports arena. The connection between sports, academics, and community service has made me a well-rounded individual. I got into the trade originally when I signed up for my local BOCES school where I fell in love with it. This trade is constantly adapting to the surroundings of the world, while other trades seem to never change. I find this trade very interesting because of not only the major job demand but also how it's constantly changing meaning I get to broaden my knowledge in the field. This trade I have grown to love from when I first started my junior year because of everything I have and will continue to learn in this field. I believe I can be a success in this field because I have a lot of experience already. I have installed multiple heat pumps throughout my county for local tech centers such as SLLBOCES-Northwest Technical Career and Education Center SLLBOCES-Southwest Technical Career and Education Center and the local Elks Lodge where a few classmates and I were awarded with a certification of appreciation for the work we did there. At these locations, I had to flair, swedge, run line sets, braze, pressurize the systems with both nitrogen and refrigeration, use a vacuum pump to receive and hold negative pressure, and do basic wiring to complete the job correctly and swiftly. At the Southwest Tech job, I was assigned a leadership position where I was tasked with teaching Southwest Tech building trades program how to flair and swedge copper pipe. I feel that my experience mixed with my inner drive to constantly learn will guide me to a long and successful career in this industry. A good life for me means having a job in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning that pays well enough to take care of my family. Whether this means joining a union or eventually owning my own business I want to be successful. Success is not just about making money but also finding happiness and meaning in what I do. I want to feel proud of my work while making sure my family is comfortable and secure. It's about having a job I enjoy and being able to provide for my loved ones without worrying too much about money. I am currently enrolled in the CTE program HVAC at my local BOCES where I am president of my tech center's National Technical Honor Society chapter as well as president of my tech center's SkillsUSA chapter. Being voted into the presidential roll for both of these nationally-recognized organizations I have taken on a leadership role not only in my program but through my technical center. The certifications I have received already are my OHSA-10, WARDflex, and EPA 608. 3.) A time I went through adversity was when my parents got a divorce. The morning my brother, my mom, and I left was the worst morning of my life. I was leaving Texas and heading to New York to live with my mom and her parents. Moving was never really a problem for me being a military brat, as we never stayed in the same place for longer than 2-3 years, but the thought of moving that far away from my dad was what I couldn’t wrap my young mind around. Once we got to New York it seemed awesome. The school year had not ended in New York so I got a double summer vacation. Having my whole family on both my mom's and dad's side I got to catch up with all of them. That summer I spent with my cousins on the St.Lawrence River at their camp and house. That Fall when it was time to go to Heuvelton Central School for the first time I was not nervous because I moved schools all the time. As I stepped into Heuvelton I noticed everyone knew each other. I was not familiar with a school where students did not always move in and out. This helped me be able to build true friendships because I couldn’t do that before. I still attend Heuvelton and I love it here. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. As I wrap up my 8th year here I realize this is the longest I've ever been in the same school. It is crazy how one night changed my whole life and guided me to a small town that I will always call my home.

Mark Murphy, he is my current HVAC teacher, he calls upon my leadership skills every day in the shop to help my classmates. He has selected me for a class leader role where I represent my class at meetings through the tech center. He would also suggest me for this scholarship because I have carried at least a 90 overall average in my 2 years of enrollment at Northwest Technical Career and Education Center proving my work is done correctly and neatly.
