I am a resilient undergraduate Exercise Science major to become a physical therapist. My academic path began at a university with over 30,000 students, where I quickly learned the importance of self-advocacy and persistence. Lacking the individual support I needed, I had to adapt, persevere, and understand that seeking help is a strength rather than a weakness. These lessons have shaped my determination to continue my education and to use my experiences to better support others.
Raised solely by my father, a U.S. Navy veteran and now a public school teacher, I grew up valuing hard work, resourcefulness, and mindfulness. Living on a modest income taught me to appreciate opportunities, avoid waste, and stay focused on what truly matters; values that guide me as I balance academic, financial realities, and long-term goals. Wrestling has also shaped my character. As a four-year varsity wrestler in high school and a member of my college wrestling club, I developed discipline, mental toughness, and the ability to push through adversity, qualities that mirror my academic journey.
My passion for physical therapy comes not only from an interest in health and human performance but also from a desire to help others regain strength, confidence, and independence after injury. This combination of resilience, financial need, and dedication to service makes me a strong candidate for scholarships and grants. With support, I will continue building on what I have learned, excel academically, and pursue a career focused on improving lives.

I am a resilient undergraduate student majoring in Exercise Science, and my ultimate goal is to become a medical doctor. My interest in medicine began with a passion for health, human performance, and helping others recover from physical challenges. Over time, that interest has grown into a commitment to pursue a career where I can make a broader impact, one that allows me to not only restore physical strength but also address overall health, provide comprehensive care, and guide patients through some of the most difficult times in their lives.
My academic journey began at a large university with over 30,000 students, where I quickly realized the importance of self-advocacy and persistence. I did not initially receive the individualized support I needed to excel, which made my transition more difficult and, at times, discouraging. However, I learned to adapt, to seek help, and to view those struggles as opportunities to grow. These experiences taught me that asking for guidance is not a weakness but an essential part of achieving success, a lesson that will remain central as I work toward a medical degree.
Raised solely by my father, a U.S. Navy veteran and now a public school teacher, I grew up in a household where financial resources were limited. Living on a modest income required discipline, resourcefulness, and an appreciation for every opportunity. I learned early to avoid waste, to prioritize what truly matters, and to stay focused even when circumstances felt challenging. These financial realities have shaped not only my approach to education but also my understanding of what many future patients may face when navigating their own health care needs.
Wrestling has also been an important influence in my life. I was a four-year varsity wrestler in high school and continued as a member of my college wrestling club. The sport demanded discipline, mental toughness, and the ability to push through physical and emotional adversity. Those same qualities have helped me overcome academic and personal challenges and will continue to serve me as I pursue the rigorous path to becoming a doctor.
The obstacles I have faced academic struggles, financial limitations, and the need to work harder to access support, have given me a deeper sense of empathy. I know what it feels like to face barriers that seem overwhelming, and I also know how powerful it can be to have someone believe in you, guide you, and help you keep moving forward. As a physician, I want to be that source of support for my patients, especially those who may feel overlooked, uncertain, or discouraged. Scholarships and grants will allow me to continue building on the lessons I have learned, focus fully on my studies, and ultimately serve others as a compassionate and skilled medical professional. My experiences have not only strengthened my determination to become a doctor but have also prepared me to connect with patients on a level that goes beyond medical treatment, helping them feel heard, supported, and understood.
