    Tardus Beach Volleyball Scholarship
Hi my name is Dylan Hall. I was introduced to volleyball at a very young age, and I decided to play beach volleyball in college because of my dad. I have also always loved the beach, anything to do with the sand and the ocean has always felt like home to me. I grew up on O’ahu so naturally I love being by the ocean and anything to do with the beach. My dad is my biggest inspiration and has always pushed me to be who I am today. He used to play volleyball when he was younger and has coached for many different programs. Growing up, I knew I wanted to be like him and make him proud by playing in college. I was recruited to California State University, Northridge for beach volleyball by one of his former players, who had played for him at University of Hawaii. It was a full circle moment for my dad because he knew I would be in good hands with her. During my Freshman year, my dad tried to convince me to red shirt for a few reasons but I chose to play. I proved myself by earning All Freshman Team honors and Honorable Mention in the Big West Conference. That summer, our coach told us she was leaving for another school for better opportunities. Our program searched for a new coach for a while and eventually my dad asked if I would be okay with him applying for the position. He did and he got the job. Now I am a sophomore being coached by my dad and I wouldn’t change it for the world. It was always my dream to play for him when he coached at Hawai’i, but this is just as special. That same love for the beach and the ocean also influenced my academic path. Growing up around the ocean made me more aware of environmental issues and its many needs, which inspired me to major in Environmental Science. In the Future, I hope to go back home to O’ahu and work with the ocean, helping animals in need and protecting marine ecosystems. I am inspired and want to make a difference at this age by continuing to support the ocean life and its environment. I want to help the ocean and the earth in as many different ways as I can because it has always meant so much to me and continues to drive me today.
