The career path that I have chosen incorporates two parts of my life that I have passionately pursued. My hope is to have a career in sports and non profit work where I can give back to a place within the community, that gave so much to me. I am currently completely my second semester of freshman year. I have achieved a 3.45 grade point average and made the Dean’s List after my first semester at Regis College. I accomplished this while moving away from home and continuing to work throughout the semester. My school job is working at the athletic center, assisting the teams including players and coaches before, during, and after games. I enjoy this responsibility but also have to stay dedicated to my school work, it can be challenging at times. However, I continue to stay devoted to my school work because my goals stay in the forefront of everything. I feel I’m a great candidate for consideration of this scholarship because I am a hard worker, I have a good work ethic and I give 100% of myself. I’m very passionate about my future and volunteerism also. My hope is to continue my education at Regis College and this scholarship would help to ensure that I stay on this path. I have learned a strong work ethic from playing sports on various teams in my community. My work ethic has transferred from sports to my education. Working hard in sports and maintaining discipline were qualities that I carried over to my education. I believe college and furthering my education is important, is also very expensive. My parents, a teacher and a security officer, are hard workers. My father has actually been laid off from work. He continues to look for work in this struggling economy. They have taught me and continue to teach me how important it is to work hard to achieve my goals. Volunteerism is something that has been a part of my life for as long as I could remember. I have been awarded, through my college, The 2022-2023 Award for Leadership and Service as a freshman. I feel strongly about giving back to my community. I have been a member of the Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham since I was 9 years old and now I work there during the summer and school breaks. When I go back to the Club I feel like I am home. Giving back to the children of this town, where I live, is important me. This place gave me a place to feel valued and confident while growing up, especially, during my middle school years. Middle school years can be very difficult for some kids, especially if they don’t belong to a group. The Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham was my group and I will forever feel a bond with The Club. I learned so much about community service from my time here. I volunteered at church community dinners, animal shelters, Town Day festivities, Christmas Tree lightings, Parks within my community, Memorial Day parades and ceremonies, fundraisers such as The Walk for Hunger, the Relay for Life, and countless other events within my community. Each event, I believe, made me a more empathetic person. I learned that helping and giving is the real meaning of receiving. So receiving this scholarship toward my education would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to giving back to The Boys and Girls Club and my community, while pursuing a career in athletics. My goals are important to me. Im an 18 year high school graduate about to begin my college career at Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts. One goal regarding my future career is to give back to my community. Sports is a passion for me. With that being said I enjoy all aspects of sports from being a spectator to reading, writing, and analyzing it along with everything in between. It’s a pastime of mine, so why not try to build my future career around it while giving back to my community. I have worked and volunteered for the past four years at the local Boys and Girls Club in my community as an athletic coordinator, park program coordinator and summer camp counselor. I have volunteered for numerous events and fundraisers within my community. The positive experiences I’ve had at The Boys and Girls Club have encouraged me to move forward in the sports field and continuing community service and volunteerism. My major will be sports management in college. I hope to earn a Bachelor Degree from the school of Heath Science at Regis College. I have worked with children and sports in many different ways in my community. I have a younger brother who is seven years younger than I am. I have coached flag football and basketball teams he has played on along with my father. My father, being a great mentor, allowed me to have multiple experiences to learn in different ways. Working with the players as they developed their skills within the sport was rewarding. I learned how to design plays, work with other coaches, and also learned multiple aspects of team management and organization. Since then I decided to take a team on myself as a head coach. The team improved, I improved as a coach, and the players had fun throughout the season. It was great to see the players build confidence in themselves as athletes. It was a rewarding experience overall. Working in any field of sports will bring me happiness, this I know. College is extremely expensive, so being awarded a scholarship would definitely help my family. My mother is a teacher and my father a security guard. They work very hard and have taught me a good work ethic. Although they work hard, they don’t have a lot of money to help me with college. I have worked hard these past four years to earn money and save for college. However, even though my parents have a little money to give me and I have saved some myself, I still will need to come up with money for school. My goal is to leave college with the least amount of debt possible. So I thank you for your consideration for this scholarship.

Have goals and begin young is an investing tip that was told to me by my parents. Investing in your future through education, financially investing, or investing in your physical body lead to freedom and freedom leads to happiness. Financial freedom is not being rich but having enough money to do what you want to do and when you want to do it. Getting an education and life long learning allows you to choose different paths with your career, which in turn, leads to having more time to spend with the people you enjoy and doing the things you love to do. Investing in your body and mind through exercise and nutrition also leads to freedom. Taking care of yourself leads to freedom through independence in your elder years. Living your life with freedom all comes from investing in your future while you are young and results in living your best life. Holding on to money in its liquid form or in a traditional savings account would only cause the money to depreciate over time when compared to the cost of living percentage. Investing money, while you’re young, in the stock market including some sort of 401k, 403b, IRA account, money market, CD or real estate is the best way for money to grow. Investing in your education is important for that freedom. It allows you to have choices in the career that leads you to be happy and provide for your family. While providing for them you can enjoy time with them depending upon the career or field you choose. And lastly taking care of your body and mind through nutrition and exercise leads to independence which directly relates to freedom. Taking this advice to have goals and begin young leads to freedom in the future.

Friendship is extremely important to me. I feel fortunate to have many good friends in different aspects of my life. Those friendships did not always come so easily for me though. This is one of the reasons I value them so much. Just before my middle school years I joined the Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham and Wakefield. This was a game changer for me. Middle school can be a tough time for kids, we all know that! Being a member there allowed me to develop strong relationships with other members during a difficult time in my life. Switching schools in 6th grade was hard on me because most other kids already had their friend group established from elementary school. These groups weren’t etched in stone but hard to join nonetheless. The Club was a positive influence for me. It allowed me to feel like I belonged to “a group” and that group was The Club. My friends and relationships that I made there are very important me today. These friendships began years ago hanging out after school at the club playing sports, board games, and just having fun. These friendships have also continued for me. I began volunteering there when I was 12 years old. I was a member of The Torch Club and learned how important it was to volunteer and give back to my community. Now I work there with other great friends. I work at the teen center during the school year playing sports with a lot of great kids hoping they build the confidence and friendships that I did while at the club. And during the summer, I work as a camp counselor with those same awesome friends that I met many years ago as an insecure kid just trying to find my group.
