One thing I’ve been told growing up is “The harder you work, the luckier you get.” That has been my mindset for the last few years. Hello, my name is Draiden Rousseau and I’m an Automotive Serive Technician Student at Tulsa Technology School at Broken Arrow campus. My interest in cars started at a young age, growing up around people who loved working on cars. My uncle worked on transmissions and my grandma worked on pretty much anything with a motor in it. These people were huge impacts on my life and rubbed off the love of cars with it. I started to attend this trade since sophomore year in high school I got a broken down 1994 Buick Roadmaster and I’ve invested many hours and dollars into getting that car running. That foundation helped me develop a deep love for working on cars and not just the exterior but everything that lies inside. It helped me realize I don’t want to work a 9-5 at a desk but some form of labor that makes me smile at a hard days work. I plan on applying to as many shops as I can once I graduate. Since being enrolled in Tulsa Tech I’ve join the HotRodders of America team, and went to SkillsUSA placing third. These accomplishments along with my grades at Tulsa tech, B+ average shows my devotion to the automotive industry
I am a family oriented man, with what I believe to be a strong work ethic and will power. If I want something I will do everything in my power to make it happen. I have been told I am a great leader and a very fast learner. My dream to own a 1984 Chevy El Camino and to work into the automotive industry and hopefully working my way into a dealership and then, through the ranks maybe even obtaining a management position. I’ve worked very hard to get where I stand today and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. If I were to obtain this scholarship I would use this money to get a jump start into the industry buying items that would help me succeed in the automotive industry.Tools are so very important and expensive when you’re first starting out and are still important 20 years later, they’re a investment to help you make money and thrive in the automotive field .I would really love the jump start with this scholarship.

What does "Work Ethic" mean to me? To me it is how I live, If I do something I give it 110%. Its not all about how hard you work, it's about what work means to you, its about how efficient and how good you are at your task at hand.

February 22nd 2023 I was diagnosed with Crohns disease and Ulcerative Colitis, this is a disease that cause the inter linings of your intestines to become inflamed. This caused me to lose a lot of blood, I went from a hemoglobin of 14 down to a 4. I was super pale and struggled to do daily tasked causing me to lay in bed and crawling to the bathroom every single hour day and night. I couldn't sleep due to the amount of pain I was in. This was my life for 2 months while my doctor was on vacation, and then I had to wait due to him being the only pediatric Gastroenterology in Tulsa.

I’ve worked at Andolinis Pizzeria since late 2023, making my way through the ladder now being an assistant kitchen manager. With my time at this establishment I’ve learned many skills I believe will help me in this industry but also life as a whole. I’ve learned to be resourceful, and respectful to my peers. I’ve learned how to stay on my feet even after a hard shift, and I’ve learned how to make the best with what little I had. I have been told I am a great leader and a very fast learner.
