Hello! My name is Dori. Writing has always been a big joy of mine — my mom tells me I was scribbling illegible "sentences" on notepads before I could properly walk. When I realized I could combine my passions of writing, informing, and entertaining into the singular career of journalism, everything clicked. In May, I will graduate with a B.S.J. in journalism news & information. Both my specialization and minor are retail & fashion merchandising. My goal is to write for a print magazine focused on fashion, beauty, and culture. After graduation, I will intern at a publication in NYC before starting my master’s program in August. You may notice that I've been in school a little longer than your "average" undergraduate student. Unfortunately, I have been diagnosed with multiple health challenges, including chronic pain and mental illness. At the end of my fall 2017 semester, I made the difficult decision to put my health first and take a medical leave of absence from school. During my few semesters off, I worked with professionals to understand my diagnoses and find treatments that work for me. Since returning to school, I have taken classes year-round, including in the summer. A few random fun facts: I have a cat daughter, and she just turned 6. Also, I am a dancer. I started training when I was three, and I even competed for nine years. Lastly, I would like to publish a novel, and I've already started writing a few.
