    Taylor Swift ‘1989’ Fan Scholarship
As a lifelong fan of music, I have always been drawn to the power of lyrics and melody to tell a story and evoke emotion. One song that has had a profound impact on me is "Wildest Dreams" by Taylor Swift, from her 2014 album '1989'. This song, for me, is a masterful work of art that captures the essence of falling in love and the bittersweet feeling that comes with it. As I pursue my academic and professional goals, the message of the song inspires me to embrace the joys and challenges of life with an open heart and a sense of adventure. In regards to my favorite song on Taylor Swift's '1989' album, it was the musical and lyrical talents that drew me in. The song that captured my heart is 'Wildest Dreams. Just like the teamwork demonstrated by Marlah and her team in the aforementioned quote, 'Wildest Dreams' showcases the strengths of Taylor Swift as a songwriter and performer. The songwriting is masterful, with vivid imagery and storytelling that transports the listener to a different time and place. The lyrics speak of an intense, all-consuming love affair, but ultimately fleeting. What sets 'Wildest Dreams' apart, however, is its production. The song has a dreamy, nostalgic quality that is reminiscent of a bygone era. The use of the ethereal synth and piano creates a sense of longing and wistfulness that perfectly complements the lyrics. The backing vocals and harmonies add to the overall atmospheric sound, creating a haunting yet beautiful listening experience. Like the teamwork Marlah and her team exhibited, the production of 'Wildest Dreams' showcases the different strengths of the people involved. Taylor Swift's vocal performance is emotive and raw, capturing the essence of the song's message. The production by Max Martin and Shellback is seamless, with each element contributing to the overall sound. As with any great work of art, 'Wildest Dreams' is open to interpretation. For me, it represents the bittersweet feeling of falling in love and knowing that it may not last. It captures the intense passion and longing that comes with a relationship that is too good to be true. The song has stood the test of time and continues to be a fan favorite. Its music video features Taylor Swift in a glamorous old Hollywood setting and has also become iconic. The song has been covered by numerous artists, including Kelly Clarkson and Hozier, cementing its place in pop culture history. In conclusion, 'Wildest Dreams' is my favorite song on Taylor Swift's '1989' album because of its masterful songwriting, dreamy production, and emotive performance. It captures the essence of falling in love and the bittersweet feeling that comes with it. Like Marlah's team, the different strengths and talents of the people involved in creating 'Wildest Dreams' came together to create a timeless piece of art."
    Dog Owner Scholarship
I own a lab mix and he changed my life. At first, I felt that I was helping my dog, but now I realize it was my dog who was helping me. One of the hardest things in my life that I still deal with is addiction. It was something I never thought I would say about myself. The day my family and I picked up Duke would be the start of a new beginning. I have learned to get help from my best friend who loves to take my socks. Addiction whispers maliciously into the darkness, “You will come back, you always do.” Time and time again I lived in the lie that I can not change, that I am an addict. As an addiction, you never realize how bad it is until it is. Not only has my addiction affected my relationships with my loved ones, but also with myself. I never sought out help as I thought I had it under control until I did not. Eventually, when I hit rock bottom, that is when I began to open up to external help. My family and friends were important in my recovery, but my dog, Duke played a special role. He helped me to look at recovery as a lifelong process and to be graceful with myself. Furthermore, recovery reminds me of planting the flag of freedom, a victory that has been long anticipated. Being sober gives me no shame or guilt in what I am doing but I understand it is human to err and humans require love. Sometimes this love is not only sown by humans but by our furry friends. I adhere to the saying a friend in need is a friend indeed. My best friend has always been a pillar of support in my darkest moments and continues to uphold me daily. Unlike you and I, He has 4 legs, and 2 floppy ears, and loves tummy rubs. This is Duke, not just a dog, but my dog and to me, he is a hero in my life. Duke taught me always to smile and to be excited about everything. He reminds me that I am needed and loved and most importantly that I matter. When I feel his soft coat gently brush up against my legs, I feel that is his way of saying I love you. If I can describe my experience with Duke in one word it would be insightful, as much as I learned about how to take care of him, I also learned how to take care of myself. Not all heroes wear capes, Duke wears a leash.

COVID-19 impacted lives. It made problems that were bad and made them worse. It put the whole world on pause. Many people who were sober for a very long time fell back into their old habits. Liquor stores were seeing an increase in revenue as customers flocked to grab a bottle. The pandemic made treatment for substance use disorder difficult as there was a lack of face-to-face connections and people felt isolated. The community they once were accustomed to was now non-existent, replaced with a screen. To add, there was a spike in therapy throughout the pandemic virtually. I sought out online therapy to cope with the challenging time. If funding was not an issue, my online treatment center would consist of an online therapy app that functions to make therapists record how their patient feels daily and doubles as a way for the patient to get back into a small group of those who are going through the same challenges they face. The people who suffer from substance use disorder fight a battle every day. As each day is a victory there is a tomorrow to conquer. The craving and old habits are still there and must be combated for those who suffer from substance use disorder. Before COVID, someone could go to rehab and find a group to keep them accountable and meet with regularly in person. Unfortunately, that was no longer available due to the pandemic. Those who suffer from substance use disorder can only access resources online. Moreover, treatment such as behavior counseling or a follow-up was now done from the patient’s home. The pandemic also caused an influx of overdoses. According to www.rpc.senate.gov (2022),” There were more than 99,000 drug overdose deaths in the United States in the first year of the pandemic; an increase of nearly 30% from the year before” (pg.1). This statistic is significant as it highlights how detrimental COVID was for those struggle with substance use. There is still hope. My ideal online treatment center solution without any worries of funding would be giving the patient an option to regularly meet with their therapist through an app. My app would be advertised everywhere, decreasing the stigma of getting help and showing that online therapy can be very efficient. This app would also give the incentive of consistency as every day one would log in, they would have the chance to be entered into a weekly sweepstake of a $500 grocery store or gas gift card. It is a win-win as they not only stay accountable and regularly meet with their therapists but also have a chance of being compensated in monetary value. Furthermore, many therapists and those who work with the patients would be compensated daily for their constant work to make sure the patient does not relapse. Moreover, my app would also provide the same sweepstake for connecting with a small group which is a group of people who share the same afflictions as the patient and are overseen by a therapist. There is also a safety net option on the app if the cravings are very bad, it immediately puts the patient in contact with a licensed professional to help walk them through their cravings. My goal is to provide help to those who need it and show them it’s okay to reach out because COVID sucks. Citation Substance use has risen during the COVID-19 pandemic. (n.d.). Education, Worth Every Penny An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. Learning is important to me because it opened me up to possibilities I did not know existed. I sued to view learning as a tedious part of life. I know now how wrong I truly was. A wise man told me that when your passion is your profession, you never work a day in your life. Regarding his words, my primary goal in going to school is to zealously serve others with my experience and education. I chose innovation and entrepreneurship as my area of study because interacting with people taught me empathy and to my understanding, everyone has a story that needs to be heard. Being an astute businessman, not only can I recognize consumer needs, but alleviate the burdens they carry. Moreover, I plan on using my education to create a non-profit organization for veterans in America. My grandfather fought in the Korean War, and many of my friends are fellow soldiers. The creation of this organization will not only give these veterans aid but also a way for them to connect with the citizens who recognize their exemplary sacrifice. I plan on learning throughout my life by constantly being open to others' perspectives. Having an empathetic mindset helps me relate to those who I know and don’t know. In our lifetime we will accumulate many experiences and lessons. It is up to us whether or not we will use it. For example, during my internship at Clarkson University, I worked with other directors to increase student admissions at the David D. Reh School of Business. From this experience, I learned how to be genuine and connect with people from all walks of life. This branding program faced adversity and also allowed me to rise to the occasion. One instance was when our open house was only a few weeks away we required a meaningful way to connect to our clients. My solution was to send handwritten letters to establish rapport and make our university stand out. I learned this from my business classes emphatically describing the importance of differentiation. We were successful in the virtual and in-person open house with a very large turnout and many interested students in which we project a 30%-40% increase in overall admissions for the David D. Reh School of Business. My education not only lead to a successful project for my University, but also increased my passion for working with people which drives me to succeed.

Focus on the positive, and your thoughts will follow. Your thoughts impact your world and can determine your emotions. I am a believer that healthy ideas will give you a healthy lifestyle. Conversely, negative ideas can create negative actions and negative feelings. For example, I faced anxiety whenever I would do something unknown such as go into a new area or try something new. I started to think how bad the outcome would be. However, my worst thoughts never came true, putting me through needless worry. Once I discovered gratitude and mindfulness, I could cope with my mental struggles and begin to think more positively. After pinpointing where my deepest fears were rooted, I could take action to better my mental health. I use mindfulness and gratitude to keep healthy mental, physical, and nutritional health in school. It's essential to have healthy eating habits. How you consume food impacts your emotions and, in my experience, can lead to emotional eating. My relationship with food worsened during my last year in middle school. I already ate unhealthily and was beginning to not like my body. One event that changed my life was being homeless with no place to go right before my eighth-grade graduation. This situation came out of the blue and was one of the worst times of my life. I remember the fear and despair as it dawned upon me that no one would save us. My family of five resorted to staying in a hotel and then in a motel. We lived on top of each other in that small room for years. I noticed a toxic relationship rooted in food. Over this period, I became addicted to food and gained much weight. It was stressful, and food was my favorite coping mechanism. As the years passed, I realized I had a problem with binge eating and began to work out and get my lifestyle in check. In addition, I began to get into meditation and mindfulness. Slowly, the mindful practice began to take effect in all areas of my life. Finally, I was starting to see where the issue of my overeating stemmed from and took action to correct it. I tracked my calories and began to see the weight fall off. I ate intentionally and no longer used food like a drug. At last, I could have peace of mind when eating out with friends and a greater appreciation of myself. In my life, I had the opportunity to turn something negative into positive. Moreover, focusing on my mental health improved my relationship with food. I notice now how I show gratitude for how my body works and how it processes the food I eat. I am thankful for the farmer who grows our food and the truckers who bring it to the supermarket. I no longer take my body for granted and enjoy what I consume. Being mindful has helped me love myself, mistakes and all. I have learned positive outlook on life makes the hard things not as hard and the good stuff more extraordinary than they already are.

The Bible did not just transform my life but saved it. Before the bible, my life was in shambles. The will to live was teetering over the point of no return. But man did it all change once I opened my eyes to the reality that God is with me. His words consoled my broken spirit and encouraged me to keep going. God is sovereign. If I have learned one thing over the years is that He is in control. God used my upbringing to make me stronger. One event that changed my life was being homeless with no place to go right before eighth-grade graduation. I remember the fear and despair I felt as it dawned upon me that no one is going to save us. My family of 5, resorted to staying in a hotel and then into a motel to reside. One room was all we had. There was no privacy but a fear for our future. My upbringing created my life was the desire to serve others. Once I turned 14, conveniently at the beginning of the summer, I could go to work. I maxed out my hours, working as close to full-time as a 14-year-old can, providing for my family. As I called on Jesus’ name, I was reminded of a bible verse, Romans 8:28 which declares “And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans.” God used these situations for His will. The bible impacted and challenged my belief of who I am. Just as someone searches for the secrets of the universe without consulting God or taking time to understand who He is, their effort is as futile as putting a square peg into a round hole. A concept to recognize is God made a universe of order. During this time, I realize that I need God more than ever in my life. He knows what will happen and how to thrive amidst the circumstances. I began to pray more and trust in His will. What was so interesting has He gave me peace that is beyond all human understanding. Even when the pressure was on, I remained at rest. To me, God performed a miracle for my anxious mind, for God it wasn’t even a drop in the bucket. God created the universe with a special purpose. In creation, there were stars, planets, the sun, moons, and a small finite creature called man. Our universe is nothing compared to the omnipotence of God who created the universe instantaneously. Whenever I think about the universe and all in it, it marvels at me that the Creator took special care in knitting together such a wondrous existence. Understanding His will is like an ant trying to know what Google is. Isaiah 55:9 puts it like this “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” I continue to view life's misfortunes and prosperity as a vehicle for gratitude and dependence on God. Life is a blessing and Jesus is good, for if He did not answer my prayers to help provide a job, I would have failed long ago. I continue to study the bible and open my heart to what God is speaking to me. Knowing that the Lord was with me in those hard times, I do not fear the future, but embrace whatever is given to me with an attitude of optimism and faith.

“Wherever there is a number, there is beauty.” Proculus’ quote says numbers are beautiful. Math is seen in the highest mountains to the deepest valleys. Math is seen at sunrise and seen in the deepest valleys. Math is seen at sunrise and sunset. Math is everywhere. My interest in math caused me to ponder how it is intertwined with my life—this curiosity for math over time brace a genuine interest in the beauty of its functionality. It started with a teacher. His overall enthusiasm for Algebra made me fall in love with numbers. Before him, I used to hate learning about math. Then, when I finished the class, I received my first A ever in a mathematics course. From here, I became fascinated with how math impacts our daily life. We see math in the measurement of time. We see math in the symmetry of a butterfly. We see math in our cup of coffee. Math is in everything and everywhere. In regards to Proculus’ quote, I, too, see the beauty in numbers. There's something just so satisfying about looking at statistics. I enjoy analyzing statistics and making predictions. We see this in the stock market and how these numbers play a significant role in our economy. The power of math is seen in our ability to measure. Without numbers, life would never be orderly.

I Never Get Caught I love to play games like monopoly. To me, it is one of the best board games ever created. I am very competitive. I’m the type of guy to have his eyes open in seven up. I would look down at their shoes and immediately know whose walking around. When I would win, some snot-nosed kid would say, “You cheated.” I was baffled. I looked at the kid and said, “How would you know, weren't your eyes closed?” I thought to myself, “I got him. There is no way anyone will know.” Finally, my teacher spoke up, and the whole class focused on her. Michael.” my teacher said. “You had your eyes open the whole time. You even made eye contact with me.” So yeah, I got in trouble that day and was exposed to the harsh realities of a third-grade class. Ever since that faithful day, I knew I had to up my game. So in my case, I felt justified in doing what I was about to do. One night my little brother was talking up a game about how he was going to “smoke” me in monopoly. So I said to myself, “smoke who? BBQ?” But he looked me in the eyes to send a message, and I got it. Now the players in the game were my brother Joshua, my girlfriend Elizabeth, and myself. So I realized someone with that attitude bets big, like bet their car and house big. So I devised a plan. I was going to be untouchable. How, you may ask? One word. Alliance. I went to my girlfriend and whispered in her ear, “Let's work together and make an alliance.” She immediately stated, “There can only be one winner.” I responded, “ You and me, we take Joshua down and be the top two.” She agreed, and I was one step closer to ensuring my inevitable victory. Next, I went to my little brother. I gently say the same thing to him as I did to Elizabeth. “Let's work together and make an alliance. You and me, we take Elizabeth down and be the top two.” I ensured that Elizabeth was not in the room to overhear our conversation. I turned my head left and right and confirmed Joshua knew this was a good deal. I whispered, “What do you say…..partner?” I anticipated his response as his mouth opened. “I-” Boom! Elizabeth cut off my brother. It turned out she wasn’t getting water at all. She stood behind me for at least two minutes and heard everything. Finally, Elizabeth interjects, “Wait a minute. That‘s the same deal you offered me!”

I am a believer that healthy ideas will give you a healthy lifestyle. Conversely, negative reviews can create negative actions and negative feelings. One example was when I faced anxiety whenever I would do something unknown such as go into a new area or try something new. I started to think how bad the outcome would be. However, my worst thoughts never came true, putting me through needless worry. Once I discovered gratitude and mindfulness, I could cope with my mental struggles and begin to think more positively. Being mindful of my studies helped me see where pessimism originated. Running keeps me sane. Running is my medicine. Running is therapeutic. I feel uplifted when I put on my shoes and jog around my neighborhood. In my upbringing, I always ran when things were terrible. Right before my eighth-grade graduation, my family and I were homeless with no place to go. I remember the fear and despair as it dawned upon me that no one would save us. My family of 5 resorted to staying in a hotel and then in a motel. I need financial assistance as my family still struggles to get on our feet. We lived on top of each other in that small room for years. I felt things I couldn't even imagine. To cope, I put on my shoes and ran. Despite life's ups and down, running has always been there for me. No matter what happens on campus, I know I can always go for a run to feel better and hope for the best.

I started to think how bad the outcome would be. However, my worst thoughts never came true and put me through needless worry. I recognize that being mindful of my thoughts helped me see where the pattern of pessimism came from. After pinpointing where my deepest fears were rooted, I was able to take action to better my mental health and help others to do the same. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Sometimes people cry out for help. My friend was in this situation. Together, I was able to help be a listener to his problems. In my mental health journey, I have learned that everyone’s experience with mental health is unique. One instance is finding out about my friend’s mental health battle with suicide, a battle he privately in his mind. What happened was in my sophomore year at Uni, My friend was a floor below me and we would often hang out. One day, I walked downstairs to see how he was doing. To my surprise, I watched his unconscious body being pushed on a stretcher. I asked what happened and was told “It is okay, his throat is not crushed.” I was very confused as to why the EMT said such a thing, but a few seconds later I would learn why. My friend planned on taking his life that day by making a noose with his shower curtain. He almost killed himself successfully if it wasn’t for my friend who got help in time. The whole ordeal showed me that someone may feel alone but there is help, and there is a support system that cares about being alive. Our mental health plays a pivotal role in how we view life. A healthy mind can show clarity and reveal what is false. I showed up for my friend and began to pay close attention to him talking about his problems. Our talks made me think deeply about my own life and how treating people well can make such a big difference. I feel empathy for others going through a rough time and hope to show that I care about their needs and treat them with the tenderness they deserve. I hope to bring clarity to their mental health by listening to their story. I want to give a raw testimony to others that it is okay to feel the pain they are feeling and that they are not alone. One of my favorite sayings is “This too shall pass.” I found this quote to be comfort and strength in my mental anguish as I know what I endure will not last forever.

A concept to recognize is God made a Universe of order. I realize that I need God more than ever in my life. He knows what is going to happen and how to thrive amidst the circumstances. God created the universe with a special purpose. In creation not only were there stars, planets, the sun, and moons but also a small finite creature called man. Our universe is but a drop in the bucket compared to the omnipotence of God who created the universe instantaneously. It marvels me whenever I think about the universe and all that is in it, that the Creator took special care in knitting together such a wondrous existence. Knowing that the Lord was with me in those hard times, I do not fear the future, but embrace whatever is given to me with an attitude of optimism and faith.

A wise man told me that if you want to see change in the world, it begins with you. I aspire to make a positive impact by being an asset to those around me by treating others equally, being charismatic, and showing the next generation what it means to work hard and love thy neighbor. I learned that creating a business is achievable but requires dedication. I chose innovation and entrepreneurship as my area of study because I find interacting with people taught me empathy and facilitates problem-solving. To my understanding, everyone has a story that needs to be heard and in my line of study, I can hear their needs and provide the necessary aid. I plan on using my education to create a non-profit organization for veterans in America. My grandfather fought in the Korean War as well as many of my friends are enlisted. The creation of this organization will not only give these veterans aid but also a way for them to connect with the citizens who recognize their exemplary sacrifice. If there is a hero in my life, Duke would be it. A friend in need is a friend indeed. My best friend has always been a pillar of support in my darkest moments and continues to uphold me daily. Unlike you and I, He has 4 legs, 2 floppy ears, and loves to take my socks. This is Duke, not just a dog, but my dog. Duke taught me always to smile and to be excited about everything. When I feel his soft coat gently brush up against my legs, I feel that is his way of saying I love you. If I can describe my experience with Duke in one word it would be insightful, as much as I learned about how to take care of him, I learned how to take care of myself. Not all heroes wear capes, Duke wears a leash. Moreover, the change I represent is to enjoy the small things. The experiences I was privileged to have like brushing my teeth, walking freely in the sunlight, and the ability to see nature represented to me how as humans we must not take any moment for granted. Over time I developed many skills from countless teachers, one being discomfort and disappointment. I am grateful to these teachers as they put me in a position to polish my character. Some of my strengths include active listening, good judgment, and a genuine interest in others. During my internship at Clarkson University, I worked with other directors to increase student admissions at the David D. Reh School of Business. This branding program faced adversity and allowed me to rise to the occasion. One instance was when our open house was only a few weeks away we required a meaningful way to connect to our clients. My solution was to send handwritten letters to establish rapport and make our university stand out. We were successful in the virtual and in-person open house with a very large turnout and many interested students in which we project a 30%-40% increase in overall admissions for the David D. A wise man told me that when your passion is your profession, you never work a day in your life. I aspire to be the leader who makes a positive impact everyone’s life by treating others equally, being charismatic, and showing the next generation what it means to work hard and love thy neighbor. I learned that creating a business is achievable but requires dedication. I chose innovation and entrepreneurship as my area of study because I find interacting with people taught me empathy and facilitates problem-solving. In regards to the first point, I show that I am able to lead and communicate well by focusing on one’s story as everyone deserves to be heard. Furthermore, with my line of study, I can hear their needs and provide the necessary aid. Specifically, my future goal is to use my education to create a non-profit organization for veterans in America. My grandfather fought in the Korean War as well as many of my friends are enlisted in the marines. The creation of this organization will not only give these veterans aid but also a way for them to connect with the citizens who recognize their exemplary sacrifice. To the second point, my resilience was developed through trial and error. Each hard time taught me to hold on to hope and never let go. In most novels, the main character would overcome an obstacle in order to progress and eventually evolve into a better version of themselves. I attest to this truth as the challenges I have faced in my upbringing have not killed me but made me stronger. One event that changed my life was being homeless with no place to go right before eighth-grade graduation. I remember the fear and despair I felt as it dawned upon me that no one is going to save us. My family of 5, resorted to staying in a hotel and then into a motel to reside. One room was all we had. There was no privacy. I grew up in this condition from eighth grade until now. To touch upon the third point, what my upbringing created in my life was the desire to serve others and made me incredibly selfless. Once I turned 14, I went to work right after graduating the eighth grade. I ended up maxing out my hours, working as close to full-time as a 14-year-old can get, to be able to provide for my family. In relation to the final points, this event in my life showed me to have a good work ethic and stay focused as there are people counting on me. Moreover, what I have learned is that adversity is an opportunity in disguise and I am grateful for my experiences as I know it groomed me into the person I am today.

When I see the word recovery, it reminds me of planting the flag of freedom, a victory that has been long anticipated. As an addiction, you never realize how bad it is until it is. Not only has this addiction affected my relationships with my loved ones, but also with myself. It was very eye-opening how it all began in retrospect. I initially started to watch soft porn from the movies my parents would have in the house. Some of the scenes that were erotic and sensual were played right before my eyes. I was infatuated with how it made me feel and wanted more at a young age. So a few years later, my sister got a ds game that allows you to change the female's clothing to whatever you want. I used to lock myself in my bathroom and played the game with the sole intention of viewing these naked bodies. Over a span of a few years, I began to crave this feeling more and more until I started to watch hardcore porn on my family’s iPad in secret. I knew what I was doing was bad and warping my mind, but I loved how it felt and began to not care. That’s when it hit me that I was addicted. I pulled every excuse in the book to say otherwise until someone said to me “How about you quit today and never look back?” It was a very simple question that made me recognize how chained I was to porn. I couldn't stop and I’m feeling it was not possible even if I tried. However, by the grace of God, I was in a situation in which I was in quarantine with my sister. Being so close to her made me realize the women I watched online are someone’s daughter, mother, or sister. Basically, there are people who love that individual, and they wouldn’t enjoy the sexual objectification of their loved ones. So what happened next? Nothing. I did nothing. I didn’t do anything in my private time and began to focus on other hobbies that made me better like working out or writing. Being sober from porn is the freedom to be me. My new living gives me no shame or guilt in what I am doing because I recognize that humans and humans require love. I plan on using my education to tell others who struggle like I did and explain that there is a way out. That there is a better life, and view me as the proof that it is possible.

With our universe in mind, it makes me think of the nature vs. nurture argument in which someone’s traits are either intrinsic or molded by their environment. My stance is along the lines of our environment has an imperative role in the participation of who we are. In a macro sense, this would include not just Earth, but the whole universe itself. Taking the time to observe and analyze our universe we see evidence that there is a God and that He orchestrated order that could not happen by itself. To understand the universe is to understand creation. We could stop here or push past this concept and look at the creation’s creator, the one who had the idea and the execution in mind. When we disregard God, the Creator, we are at risk of pursuing a truth that is not complete. For example, if one wanted to know how to make a hole and did not know what tool should be used, they may choose a fork rather than a shovel. It is possible that one can make a hole with a fork, but that was not what the fork was built for. Just as someone searches for the secrets of the universe without consulting God or taking time to understand who He is, their effort is as futile as some design to make a hole with a fork. A concept to recognize is God made a Universe of order. It is irrefutable to say otherwise as you can observe the Earth being at the correct location hanging in space. Not too close to the sun to be too hot and not too far away from the sun that it becomes freezing, but rather God has put the Earth in the right spot. One can see that the universe has assigned roles, such as the revolutions of planets orbiting around the sun and the effect of the moon and the tides here on Earth. One can immerse themselves in the universe and discover the wonder that one can contemplate for a lifetime. Yet, the answer for our universe and being enthralled by it is false, rather we are enthralled by the wisdom of God who made all things. Once one can accept that it is God they are truly searching for, they will see their purpose as to why they were created in this vast universe, and why they truly matter.

I plan on showing the world through my music that it is okay to be yourself. I want people to know that their individuality is a gift that the world is blessed to have. I know so many artists who live in dogma because of other negative projections of themselves. My art aims to liberate people and show that success begins with a dream one never gives up upon. My music in particular is gospel and rap. I want to make mainstream music that honors God while also being enjoyable to listen to. My hope is with my music I am able to become profitable and give proceeds to churches that are doing active mission work in areas of need around the world such as aiding the Ukraine refugees. With this scholarship, I am able to fuel my vision and be one step closer to facilitating an optimistic paradigm for others to believe in themselves through my music. Ultimately, a person's life story reflects the individual's legacy.” Not only do I agree with what white stated, but her statement encapsulates the idea that we all have a story to share. We are our heroes in our own stories and it is up to us to determine what the future would look like. In most novels, the main character would overcome an obstacle to progress and eventually evolve into a better version of themselves. If I could describe my feelings of what it means to be an entrepreneur, I would say challenging. Everyday is an adventure, each moment is jam-packed with excitement. The challenges are the salt that makes this profession so flavorful. The income ceiling is limitless, or rather self-imposed. For example, my business that was created in high school my sophomore year provided students with products at their discretion. Specifically, my business would give students merchandise of their choosing at affordable rates. I came up with these ideas from the fact there was no one in this market. I had no competitors, but especially I realized there was no one capitalizing on this opportunity. What I did was I sold candy and sodas to my fellow students. Every night, I would go to my local stores such as ShopRite or Target, and utilize deals and coupons to purchase the products at a low price. I recognized that buying in bulk saved me even more money and increased my profit margin. Eventually, the customer demand was so high that I hired some of my friends to work for me while I was in class. During their lunch breaks, they would sell my products and get a portion of the product. Inevitably it dawned upon me that I was making money while also getting an education. From that experience on, I knew my passion lay in being an entrepreneur, an entrepreneur that creates jobs for others and improves the environment.

Amelia Isadora Platts Boynton Robinson was an American Activist who was a leader of the American Civil Rights Movement in Selma, Alabama. She was also a key figure in the 1965 Selma to Montgomery marches. Samuel William Boynton was an American Activist as well who founded The Dallas County Voters League (DCVL) in the 1920s.” The DCVL was instrumental in the march in Selma. The small group of 12 bonded together with the SCLC and the SNCC to help register African Americans to vote.” (TimeToast.com, pg. 1). Amelia and Samuel were integral in the marches in Selma as their efforts laid the foundations for African Americans to vote. As a black male, I know my freedom came with a price. A price that caused tribulation and pain for those who fought for it. The work of the civil rights leaders is the backbone of our current democracy. Without these brave individuals' indomitable will, I would not have the ability to go to the university I attend now due to my skin color. The story of Amelia and Samuel Boynton reminds me that I am here to contribute to society and not back down to injustice. I watched documentaries about what freedom fighters and those who were involved in the civil rights movement went through. It was hard to hear about the unfair treatment they experienced due to the melanin in their skin. The story of Amelia and Samuel Boynton inspires me to be grateful for my liberty as well as my education. A lack of drive to be the best version of myself would make the Boynton’s sacrifice vanity as their story pushes me to go outside my comfort zone and to view my adversities as a stepping block to growth. In regards to making an impact, I desire to make a positive change by organizing my community to be aware of their voting rights through social media and verbal communication. Furthermore, I plan on making the younger generation aware of what the civil rights movement was about. Black and white kids should know their history and with my message, they will understand how important it is to learn from it. Equality is not free, there is a cost. Fortunately for myself and all those who have melanin in their skin, individuals like Amelia and Samuel Boynton paved the way for us to get degrees in universities that accept all races. Their fight is now our fight, as we continue to push for new bounds to bridge the gap of equality for all. Citation The Civil Rights Movement: The March from Selma to Montgomery timeline.
