Bio
Hi. You don't know me, and I don't know you. I could (and will) tell you a brief synopsis of who I am and why I'm different from the hundreds of thousands of participants you will see today. So how am I different from the next person?
My answer is, I'm not, at least I don't see myself that way. I don't need to be different. I don't need to be better. I want to work alongside others as equals. People do great things on their own. I want to do remarkable things by working with others.
I was twelve years old when my mom talked to me about not wearing a Star of David. At the time, my temple was receiving bomb and gun threats, and congregation members were having Nazi symbols drawn on their homes and cars. The increasing antisemitism in North Carolina made it difficult to be proud of being Jewish, despite desperately wanting to.
I've been told that "Hitler should have killed you all (Jews)", has swastikas drawn on. my desk and school work, and heard "heil Hitler" in the hallway at school. There moments have shaped who I am. I've grown to be proud of my faith, but that fear will always remain.
I've grown to be a fighter. For myself and for others. I fight through writing and educating myself and others. I am an activist, supporter, and ally. I get to grow as a person by talking to people from all over the world who have different experiences and cultures than I.
There is so much more to me than you're going to get in 1600 characters that I can't even begin to explain. But I will tell you that I'm someone who will be remembered for making a difference while she was here.
