My life goals are to be financially stable with a job in the nursing field to take care of my family, but also have a family life balance. I've wanted to be in the nursing field for over ten years, but could not find the time or the money to do so. I am older now and I am tired of being tired living pay check to pay check. Nursing is a career that you can continue to grow. And me being a person that loves people and love to learn there is no end in sight for me. Although starting with LPN. I will go forward with more degrees. Jesus willing. I am most passionate about helping the homeless. I do help the homeless with money, food, etc. Many people may just past them by. By Jesus's instructions were to help the poor. So I like to help anyone in need whether it just be a listening ear. I am a great candidate, because I am hungry for this degree and I have passion for people. I have worked in nursing homes, hospitals, and a rehabilitation centers and I see how some of these patients get treated first hand. Now that I have overcome my addiction to alcohol. I want to be apart of the change that makes nurses great. I love to help people. And I want this so badly. This scholarship to help me succeed will not only change my life, but the lives of my children, grandchildren and the families that I am destined to help in the future.

What inspired me to pursue a nursing career was my Aunt Carol. Aunt Carol was the family nurse. Any time there was an elder in the family, she was the person that cared for that person until they got better. I always was intrigued by how my Aunt Carol was dressed so professionally in her nursing uniform anytime that I saw her. As my mom was a teacher. I would go to the hospital with aunt Carol sometimes on weekends, just to be around her. She was so well respected by everyone that knew her and very intelligent she was. So looking at her at a young age I could see how she made a difference in people's lives. I plan on making differences by being the professional nurse that nursing was in the 80's .Professional and caring, nurturing, compassionate. And to help others grow who have the same ambition through knowledge and wisdom. Financially if needed. My education Goals are to obtain degrees in nursing. Career wise I want to Be a nurse anesthetist. As a kid being an anesthesiologist was a goal of mine. While in a trade high school I fell in love with cooking. Which led me to obtaining a Culinary scholarship. In which I used to attend then was Baltimore International College in Baltimore Maryland. I never lost my passion for the healthcare field though. I have gone back to school in order to begin my nursing career and this scholarship will help me in completing my life long dream of working with anesthetics. Sometimes I cry many nights because I know what I want, but it takes finance to get there and all I can do is what I can. I want better for myself and my future generations to come.
I am one of those people who love to learn new things and within the medical field there is and endless lane of learning. You can never be bored. I like to know how the body works and how chemicals affect things around us. Needless to say, science fairs were a big hobby of mine. I want to be a part of making a difference in someone's life. I think nursing is a rewarding profession. Not just financially, but spiritually and emotionally. And in nursing the education aspect is endless. The body is such a vast organism that studying it is fun as well. There are so many functions. This world is full of knowledge and discovery if you are a person that likes to learn new things and not be stuck in the past or just plain old boring to what is actually around you. I want to be successful in everything that I do. I just need all the help that I can get to help pay for my beginning schooling. And I too, one day will have the money to help someone that is walking the road that I am. Just needing a little assistance I will make donating to a specific scholarship a part of my life. Because I know first hand how hard it is to get funding for school. I possess a drive that just will not let me give up. I have to keep going and going. I appreciate this scholarship for the help that it will provide for someone who needs the help. Even if I do not win I will still continue to strive for success. To be a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, an educator and a service provider to the sick and shut in.

I live out my faith day to day by firstly when I awake renouncing any dreams that I do not remember, because they could have been stolen from me in the spiritual realm. I have a list of prayer that I read everyday before I do anything else. I continuously give to the poor. Because Jesus Christ of Nazareth said to. Once you give you don't look back. What I mean by that is. You don't worry about what that person may use that money for God to you to give from your heart. My faith has definitely impacted my goal for my future and career path. Becoming a nurse was always a dream of mine. I was in a place of stagnation. Every time I tried to move forward something would pull me back. I wasn't until I met my wife that I got deeper into spirituality that I began to understand about generational curses. And as I got closer and closer to God. He allowed me to see and acknowledge things in my life that needed to be changed. As he stated in his word in Hosea 4:6 " My people perish because of lack of knowledge" It was when I heard this and really grasped that God does love me and I can ask my father for whatever I want. As long as I follow his laws. I plan to utilize my education to first establish my self in this wonderful field of study and progression to speak to sick and the shut in. I say this because I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and was supposed to die with a blood pressure of 245/200. When I talked to God that day I talked to him as if I had never talked to him before. My God has brought me out of sexual sin, alcoholism and why not congestive heart failure. After praying to God and reminding him of his words. That he declared over my life. I went to a cardiologist within the next two weeks and he was baffled that he had to look at my results from the hospital again. To make sure that I was the right person he was seeing. Yes. Looking at my heart a second time and running labs. He pondered how I was healed of all that he had seen previously. No body but the grace of God. That is whom deserves all of my glory. So what Jesus Christ of Nazareth wanted for my life. I shall follow God's commands. I wand to educate children, young adults, teens and adults. I was healed from alcohol addiction, the death angel came to see me directly in the hospital. I also have a prayer warrior of a wife whom fights on my behalf as well. There is a living God and all who will listen need to know that prayer works.

Having been in a place where you don't know that you have a problem. I understand what another person is going through who is trying to quit their choice of drug. Mine was alcohol. As I am typing this essay I have been clean of alcohol for 4 years. When I was out there drinking, yes I had dreams and goals. How would I achieve them was the question. I can't keep a job, child support takes all my money. I can't pay the rent because my checks are being garnished. So I have to get a second job, just to maintain. Drinking became a friend to keep me motivated to have the energy to go to work. Then came the problems of driving and at work intoxicated just to be able to function. I lost many relationships because of my substance abuse, and my passion for people as well as my love for God. I grew up within the church and completely lost sight of my dreams and aspirations. One day I was sitting with a half empty bottle of vodka in my hand and asked God to please help me. The next day I put myself in rehab and never looked back. Now there were many ups and downs through the process of quitting, but I never gave up. Growing up I had two career paths in my heart. Culinary and nursing. I have cooked for over 20 plus years. Within those years was my drinking. Working so much that I barely spent time with my kids or family. Just work and drink. By the grace of God I am back in touch with God .Giving him all his glory that he deserves, still building a better relationship with my daughters. I am now happily married and am blessed to have been given my wife, by Jesus Christ of Nazareth, And I am now back in school to obtain a nursing degree to pursue my dream of being an Registered Nurse. I have spent so many years behind closed doors seeming happy to others. All along willowing in my self-pity. Wondering why I can't succeed. Truth is I forgot to put God first in everything that I do. And lost hope in myself. No more. Alcohol took my home, my vehicles, my jobs, my relationships, and my children away from me. Going through that shows me that there is nothing that I can't do. I am a walking testimony to anyone who is battling substance abuse in their life, It really is a one day at a time thing. Yes, I am writing this essay for scholarship help. I not only just want to win the prize. I want my story to help someone else to know that they can make a change too. It is not the end of the road. You get up and fight for your destiny. Strength and Determination are just the beginnig.

Having to pay child support which takes 65% of my pay every two weeks I can't pay for my dreams and even try to get ahead. It is very hard to balance both. Just needing a little assistance I will make donating to a specific scholarship apart of my life.

My education Goals are to obtain a degree in nursing. Having to pay child support which takes 65% of my pay every two weeks I can't pay for my dreams and even try to get ahead.
Just think. We as an organism start from just an atom, which then with more than one atom becomes a molecule. Molecules then become a cell. Cells then become tissue. Tissues then become an organ. Organs then become an organ system. Organ systems then make up an Organism, which is us. The human being. My gosh isn't it wonderful how much goes into just the makeup of the body. And that is just the beginning of the learning. This scholarship will not go into the wrong hands if I was awarded it. I want to continue to grow and learn as I get older.
This world is full of knowledge and discovery if you are a person that likes to learn new things and not be stuck in the past or just plain old boring to what is actually around you. I want to be successful in everything that I do. I am starting out as an LPN and will progress from there. I just need all the help that I can get to help pay for my beginning schooling. I am now happily married and am blessed to have been given my wife, by Jesus Christ of Nazareth, And I am now back in school to obtain a nursing degree to pursue my dream of being an anesthetist.
