Bio

As a first-generation student, I strive to create a meaningful impact that extends far beyond the classroom. My journey is fueled by witnessing my family’s financial struggles and a desire to rewrite the financial narratives of others who face similar challenges. Specializing in finance has allowed me to combine personal passion with purpose—empowering individuals to better understand and manage their financial well-being. To date, I’ve directly helped over 60 young adults, ages 18–30, with free financial planning services. My vision is to expand this reach to broader demographics, support my community, and mentor students with similar stories. My career path includes pursuing a master’s degree, earning professional certifications, and obtaining financial licenses to further my ability to serve others. Balancing overnight shifts, multiple jobs, and a demanding academic schedule has shaped my resilience and work ethic. These experiences taught me to adapt, persevere, and approach challenges with a forward-focused attitude. I believe in striving for excellence, embracing hard work, and never settling for less. My candidacy represents more than personal achievement; it’s a commitment to creating meaningful change. Relieving my student debt would enable me to give back to my community and help others earlier in their journeys. Thank you for viewing my profile and have a great day!

I haven't always been the kindest person. As I have grown though, I've come to appreciate the significance of spreading kindness. For me, one thing it comes down to is perspective. I believe that perspective is a fundamental issue in our world today. The lack of perspective, the relentless pace of our lives—most of us can't even keep up with our own struggles, let alone extend a hand to a stranger, a friend, or even a family member. I believe the mental health crisis plays a significant role. During some of my lowest points, I found it easy to be short with people or downright rude for no discernable reason. I think that, with the immense challenges many people face today, they become blinded. How can they spread kindness when they can't even be kind to themselves? In general, people are not intentionally unkind, but often, they don't notice their lack of kindness until it's too late. I lost a best friend to suicide. I don't really like to talk about it. I think of him often; he was truly one of the best people I have ever known. He was very conscious of those around him and their feelings, and he would always do his best to brighten their days and be there in their hard times. I was a good friend to him; he knew I would do anything for him when it really came down to it, but if I had known the impact of the absentness or the little inconsiderate moments, I would have done everything differently. I often recall the last weeks of his life when we were both busy with school and work. He really wanted to go get some food with me, and I said I couldn't because of the money and something else I can't recall but, it was irrelevant, it was not something that couldn't be moved to go out with him instead. That small act of kindness could have been the thing he needed. It would not have taken me an arm and a leg to extend that wish to him, and I regret it. I wish everybody knew the power of their actions and words. A single thing said or done can completely change peoples lives. Kindness is not a solitary act; it has the power to set off a chain reaction that extends far beyond the initial gesture. When we choose to be kind to someone, whether it's a smile, a word of encouragement, or a helping hand, we inspire them to pay it forward and do a kind act for someone else. In this way, a single act of kindness can create a ripple effect that touches numerous lives. Think about when someone held the door for you or helped you move into your new apartment. These seemingly small actions have the potential to brighten your day and put you in a more positive mood. Positive experiences can inspire you to be kinder to others, creating a cycle of kindness within your community. I've realized that a kind word, a helping hand, or a small gesture can act as the spark that propels individuals to greater heights. In honor of my late best friend, Dr. Alexanderia K. Lane, and everyone who makes it their mission to leave a smile on the faces of those around them, I strive to be more conscious of the impact I can have on others and to educate others on the impact they could have as well, so we can all live in a kinder, more empathic, and beautiful world.

Every day, as a member of Gen-Z born and raised in a middle-class family in the Midwest, I find myself living through history. I bear witness to both momentous and subtle events that shape not only the future of our world but also my own destiny. In these daily experiences, I discover the extraordinary within the ordinary, shaping my character and values along the way. Remarkably, my generational journey shares similarities with the spirit of The Greatest Generation, as we navigate a complex and ever-changing landscape like they did so long ago. The Greatest Generation, as it's known, emerged from the struggles of the Great Depression and World War II, marked by resilience, duty, and an unwavering commitment to a better future. As Millennials and Gen Z, we too embody these qualities in the face of our unique challenges and opportunities. We have witnessed several wars, endured economic recessions, and faced terrorist attacks and natural disasters, to name just a few of the trials etched into our collective memory. And as if these challenges were not enough, we are currently grappling with the enduring impacts of the first COVID-19 pandemic, a housing crisis, a looming recession, a potentially resurging strain of COVID-19, and a country that stands deeply divided. The parallel between our generations and The Greatest Generation becomes evident when we consider the transformative events that have shaped both our journeys. The Greatest Generation confronted the unforgiving hardships of the Great Depression, enduring economic hardship and widespread unemployment, much like our own generations, where economic instability and underemployment have left their indelible mark on our collective experience. Both generations have carried the weight of uncertainty and economic insecurity, yet, like our predecessors, we remain committed in our determination to overcome these challenges, even when the odds are stacked against us. The Greatest Generation was also forced into a world at war, where the survival of society hung in the balance. They embraced their circumstances with a profound sense of duty, willingly shouldering burdens and sacrifices for the greater good of humanity. Today, we find ourselves in similar circumstances being involved in several global conflicts throughout our lifetimes, often fueled by complex political issues. We, like The Greatest Generation, have responded to the call of duty, recognizing that our actions today can and will significantly shape the world's future. The economic recession of 2009 serves as a significant point of similarity between our generations. Just as The Greatest Generation endured the challenges of economic instability, we, too, have witnessed the recession's far-reaching impact. Now we are dealing with the effects of the economy during COVID-19 and flawed actions by the government trying to repair the economy post lockdowns. Its effects, including job losses, financial uncertainty, and housing crises, have deeply influenced our values, teaching us the importance of grit and adaptability. In the face of these hardships, we have stepped back and taken everything in to see what went wrong how to avoid it, and how to adapt to a similar predicament in the future because it's only a matter of time. The COVID-19 pandemic has left an unforgettable mark on our generation. We experienced lockdowns, disruptions in education, and the loss of loved ones. These were things we had never dealt with it felt like the world was crashing down around us, there was no clear end to the nightmare in sight but, a light did eventually peer through the end of the tunnel. This global crisis has tested our strength and adaptability, much like The Greatest Generation faced the trials of World War II. In the face of this adversity, we have demonstrated unity, empathy, and a commitment to protecting our communities paving a path forward through whatever the world throws our way. In our daily lives, we encounter a bombardment of information and opinions, challenging us to discern fact from fiction, empathy from apathy, and progress from stagnation. We engage in conversations on social justice, mental health, and environmental sustainability, recognizing that our voices matter and our actions have profound consequences. We confront the imperfections of our world and seek to heal its wounds. We participate in social movements, demanding justice, equality, and change. We use our creativity and innovation to address global challenges, from developing sustainable technologies to colonizing Mars and everything in between. As we continue to live through history every day, let us remember that our daily experiences are the building blocks of the future. Each conversation, each choice, and each act of kindness contributes to the ongoing narrative of our generation, and the Gen-Z and millennials I know understand that. We are the authors of our history, and our legacy will be defined by our generation's collective character, values, and actions. In conclusion, every day, Millennials and Gen Z alike live through history on a global and personal scale. We navigate a world of unprecedented challenges and opportunities, shaping our identities and values in the process. In both grand and subtle moments, we discover the extraordinary within the ordinary and embrace our role as active participants in the ongoing story of our generation paving the way for future generations to thrive despite our challenging circumstances.

Everyone is always asking themselves, what can I do to retire my parents, put my kids through school, or get a shiny new sports car? I have pondered those questions myself. What should you do? Like many, I have never been explicitly told, but by gathered advice from my parents, mentors, and other individuals throughout my life. I have taken individual pieces of advice and grouped them into what I think they are all trying to get me to do. I believe In today's competitive world, investing in yourself has become more relevant than ever before. Investing in yourself is, in my opinion, one of if not the best overall investments you can make. Not only does it improve your quality of life but it can also have a positive impact on your financial future. When you invest in yourself, you are increasing your knowledge, skills, and abilities, which could lead to better job opportunities, higher income, better financial investment opportunities, and more fulfilling life. One of the ways to invest in yourself is by pursuing education. This can include going to school to earn a degree, taking courses or workshops to develop new skills, or attending conferences to learn about industry trends and network with other professionals. By investing in education, you can acquire new knowledge and skills that can make you more marketable and increase your working income potential which is the primary income for almost everyone on earth. Another way to invest in yourself is by taking care of your physical and mental health. This can include regular exercise, eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, and practicing self-care. When you take care of your health, you are better able to perform at your best and have the energy and focus to pursue your goals. This can lead to increased productivity, better job performance, and a better quality of life. Investing in yourself can also involve pursuing hobbies and interests that you enjoy. This can include learning a new language, playing a musical instrument, or traveling to new places. Pursuing your passions can help you stay motivated and engaged in life, which can have a positive impact on your mental and emotional well-being. One of the benefits of investing in yourself is that it can lead to a higher income and more financial security. When you acquire new skills and knowledge, you become more valuable to employers and can command a higher salary. This can lead to increased savings and the ability to achieve long-term financial goals such as retirement, buying a home, or even retiring early which people familiar with the F.I.R.E movement will know about. There are several ways to invest in yourself, which can take many forms. It can involve time, money, or both. For example, pursuing education and training may require a financial investment, but the payoff can be significant in terms of increased earning potential and career opportunities. On the other hand, taking care of your physical and mental health may not require a financial investment but can lead to better overall well-being. In conclusion, investing in yourself is one of the best monetary investments you can make. By pursuing education and training, taking care of your health, and pursuing your passions, you can increase your knowledge, skills, and abilities, which can lead to better job opportunities, higher income, better financial investments, and more fulfilling life. The investment in yourself can take many forms and can require time, money, or both, but the payoff can be significant in terms of personal and financial success, especially when focusing on the long term.

The intricacies of the human mind have always fascinated me, but it was my personal journey with mental health, combined with my experiences the mental health experience of a loved one, that truly illuminated the profound impact it can have on life, relationships, goals and beliefs. Within the confines of my own mind, I've grappled with moments of darkness and uncertainty. The inner battles I've faced allowed me to recognize the importance of destigmatizing mental health discussions. As I confronted my own anxieties and navigated periods of introspection, I witnessed the transformative power of seeking help. This realization reshaped my beliefs, urging me to view mental well-being as an integral piece of an individuals overall health. However, my most recalled encounter with mental health appeared through a loved one's struggles. As I stood by their side, unaware of their struggles, I discovered the harsh realities of a system not always equipped to provide the aid and understanding needed, which unforchunately resulted in the death of a person very close to me. This journey permenantly impacted my relationships, deepening my empathy and strengthening my commitment to fostering a safe space for open conversations in all situations. Through both personal and witnessed experiences, I've encountered the dual nature of the mental health industry. Positively, I've witnessed the incredible impact of dedicated professionals who provide unwavering support to those who need it. Their dedication has inspired me and certainly kindled a personal interest to contribute to this field. My journey has also exposed the industry's shortcomings. The barriers to access and the lingering stigma surrounding mental health treatment have tested my resolve. I've encountered stories of individuals left underserved, their cries for help often left ignored. These disheartening moments have ignited a fire within me to advocate for change, to channel my aspirations into fostering a more inclusive and compassionate mental health landscape. As I grow, I see my path intersecting with the mental health industry. My experiences have cultivated a profound desire to drive positive change, to bridge gaps, and to amplify voices that have been silenced. I aspire to contribute to a future where mental health is prioritized, where individuals are met with understanding rather than judgment, and where the industry is built to provide the comprehensive care that everyone deserves. In conclusion, my journey within the subject of mental health, both from a personal and as a supportive presence, has left an indelible mark on my life, relationships, goals and beliefs. The dual nature of the mental health industry, marked by both its transformative potential and its existing challenges, has strengthened my resolve to be an advocate for change. Through my experiences, I am driven to reshape perceptions, challenge stigma, and contribute to a more compassionate and equitable future in mental health care for all.

Being an American fills me with a profound sense of pride, rooted in our country's principles of liberty, nobility, and the pursuit of a better future. Our nation's history is filled with countless individuals who have strived for progress, equality, and justice for all people at home and abroad. As I reflect on what makes me proud to be an American, it is the potential we possess to overcome challenges and stand united that truly resonates with me. One of the most pressing changes I wish to see in our country is a reduction in division and a resurgence of unity. In recent times, our society has been marred by polarization, where differing opinions often lead to animosity and hostility. This division slows progress and weakens our ability to address critical issues collectively. What I yearn for is an America where people from all walks of life come together, embracing our shared values and working towards common goals. Unity, to me, is not just the absence of conflict but it is the active practice of understanding, empathy, and support for one another. I envision a nation where we celebrate our differences, recognizing that our diversity is our strength. We must move beyond the boundaries of political affiliations, socioeconomic backgrounds, and cultural identities, and instead, focus on the common ground that unites us as Americans. To effect this change, I am committed to taking both personal and collective actions. On a personal level, I will engage in open and respectful dialogues with individuals who hold differing viewpoints. By actively listening and seeking to understand their perspectives, I hope to bridge gaps and foster meaningful connections. I also aim to lead by example, treating every person with kindness and respect, regardless of our differences. Community initiatives play a pivotal role in promoting unity, it is starting at the smallest levels that matter the most. That being said I am determined to be an advocate for change at a local level. I plan to collaborate with organizations that prioritize inclusivity and actively work to bring people together. Whether it's participating in volunteer projects, organizing events that celebrate cultural diversity, or supporting educational programs that promote understanding, I am dedicated to making a tangible difference. Furthermore, I believe that fostering unity requires a shift in our collective mindset. We must move away from a scarcity mentality that pits us against each other and adopt an abundance mindset where we celebrate everyone's success. This means actively rooting for the success of our fellow Americans, recognizing that when one of us prospers, it paves the way for others to thrive as well. In conclusion, my pride in being an American stems from the potential we hold to come together, overcome challenges, and create positive change. I am deeply committed to realizing a more unified nation where divisions are diminished, and the success of one is celebrated as a victory for all. Through fostering dialogue, engaging in community initiatives, and promoting a mindset of abundance and support, I am confident that we can develop a path towards a more united and prosperous America.

Life is undeniably complex, a fact that most people accept without question. Personally, I have always strived to reflect on my past experiences in order to improve my present and future. Over the past four years, I have endured the harshest of storms, which has provided me with ample food for thought. Surprisingly, even after the passage of time, I continue to discover new perspectives on events in my life. In today's fast-paced world, many people are blinded by routine and the demands of daily life, often leaving them unprepared when reality inevitably strikes. In my own journey, both of these notions have proven true. As a high school student, I found myself caught in a whirlwind of responsibilities. I was working overnight shifts at a local grocery store to support myself while simultaneously finishing my studies online. The exhaustion and pressure of juggling work and school took its toll, leaving me with little time to truly savor life. Amidst this chaotic period, I faced a series of profound personal losses. I experienced the heart-wrenching breakup with a long-time girlfriend, the isolating effects of the pandemic, and the devastating news of my best friend's suicide. Each of these events alone would have been difficult to bear, but their convergence within such a short time frame felt overwhelming. It seemed as though the weight of the world was crushing down on me, and I found myself on the brink of despair. Navigating these simultaneous challenges tested my resilience and pushed me to the edge of my emotional capacity. I questioned whether I could handle the overwhelming burden, whether I would ever be able to find solace and happiness again. It was in this dark and desolate space that I realized the importance of seeking external perspectives and support. Gradually, I began to open myself up to the insights and experiences of others. I sought solace in therapy, leaning on the guidance and wisdom of professionals who helped me navigate the complex web of emotions and grief. I also reached out to friends and family, allowing their love and support to provide a beacon of hope amidst the darkness. Through their collective perspectives, I started to see glimmers of light and possibility. One of the most transformative realizations I had during this time was the importance of introspection and self-evaluation. I began to question the paths I had been treading, the choices I had made based on societal expectations rather than genuine fulfillment. The hardships I faced forced me to confront my own values, desires, and aspirations. I realized that I had been living my life according to others' expectations, neglecting my own needs and dreams. This profound insight led me to make a courageous decision to pivot my path. I chose to redirect my studies and pursue work that aligned with my passions and provided a sense of purpose. It was not an easy choice, as it required stepping away from the familiar and embracing uncertainty. However, it was a pivotal moment that allowed me to embark on a journey of self-discovery and self-fulfillment. Through these struggles, I have gained a deeper understanding of the complexities of human relationships, personal fulfillment, and the fragility of life. I have come to appreciate the power of vulnerability, the significance of meaningful connections, and the importance of cherishing the present moment. The storms I weathered shattered my preconceived notions of invincibility and revealed the depth of my own resilience. In conclusion, grappling with difficult times is an intrinsic part of life, and there is no shame in that. What truly matters is how we confront and learn from these challenges, constantly working towards a brighter future. The storms I have weathered and the lessons I have learned have shaped me into a more resilient, compassionate, and introspective individual. Life's twists and turns have taught me the value of self-reflection, the power of perspective, and the importance of pursuing goals that align with my happiness. Moreover, the hardships I faced have also deepened my understanding of the human condition and instilled within me a profound sense of empathy and compassion. Through my own experiences, I have come to recognize that each person carries their own burdens and battles, and it is our responsibility to approach others with kindness, understanding, and support. By extending compassion to those in need, we can create a ripple effect of positivity and healing in our society. As I continue to navigate the complexities of life, I carry with me the lessons learned during my darkest moments. I am committed to embracing new perspectives, fostering understanding, and showing compassion toward others. Through understanding and compassion, we can build a more empathetic and supportive world where each individual feels seen, heard, and valued. In the end, the struggles we face are not meant to break us, but to mold us into stronger, more compassionate beings. It is through these struggles that we discover our true resilience and our capacity to make a positive difference in the lives of others. With each challenge overcome, we inch closer to becoming the best versions of ourselves and creating a more compassionate and understanding world for all.

As a first-generation student, I have always recognized the immense responsibility of blazing a trail in academia for myself, my little brother, my cousins, and other first-gen students I am acquainted Without the mentorship or guidance from parents who have experienced higher education, I have had to navigate the complexities of college alone, driven by my desire to create a lasting legacy. This essay aims to shed light on my motivations for attending college, as well as highlight my career and life goals in the face of financial and personal challenges. Growing up, I witnessed my parents' financial struggles firsthand, which instilled in me a determination to overcome these obstacles and bring about positive change. By choosing to specialize in finance, I aspire to advance my knowledge and skills to help individuals and organizations better manage their financial health. Witnessing the impact of financial hardships on my family has fueled my ambition to alleviate the burdens of others through informed decision-making and sound financial practices. By establishing a successful business, I aim to create job opportunities within my community, empowering individuals and fostering economic growth. Furthermore, I recognize the transformative power of education and aspire to contribute to programs that provide mentorship and guidance for first-generation students, so they too can pursue their dreams. Throughout my adolescent life, I have grappled with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a condition that has presented academic challenges. However, I refuse to let it define me or hinder my progress. Instead, I have learned to adapt, working twice as hard and embracing the qualities that make me unique. I firmly believe that a little extra effort and a tenacious spirit can go a long way in achieving success. Attending college represents an opportunity to broaden my horizons, acquire knowledge, and develop vital skills that will shape my future. It serves as a platform for personal growth, intellectual exploration, and expanding my understanding of the world. College will equip me with the tools and networks necessary to make a meaningful impact in the field of finance and empower me to become a catalyst for change within my community. My immediate career goal is to earn a bachelor's degree, possibly followed by an MBA someday to enhance my business sense. Through strict academic pursuits, internships, and hands-on experience, I aim to gain a comprehensive understanding of finance and develop the expertise needed to guide individuals and organizations toward financial stability. Driven by the responsibility of forging a path for future generations, my journey as a first-generation student has been marked by unwavering determination, perseverance, and a commitment to making a positive impact. Attending college is a pivotal step towards acquiring the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to empower individuals, transform communities, and contribute to a more equitable society. This scholarship presents a valuable opportunity, providing the support necessary to navigate the challenges and costs of higher education, ultimately enabling me to achieve my aspirations and leave a lasting legacy of empowerment.

Being an entrepreneur means being your boss, taking risks, and pursuing your passion. It's about creating something from scratch and making it successful. This can be incredibly exciting for those who have a vision and a drive to see it through. Entrepreneurs are often motivated by a desire to make a difference, solve a problem, or create something new and innovative. From a young age I yearned for adventure, I wanted something that I could nurture and call my own. I have taken on many different adventures in my life like traveling the country, taking on new and exciting activities, and of course, dipping my toes into the entrepreneurial world. I have been researching and applying my knowledge to my entrepreneurial ventures since early high school. The longer I was in school the more I began to get fed up with some of the bureaucracy of tasks, assignments, and classes and just being told to do something one way when I know for a fact it is inefficient and being shot down for applying effort to things I know for a fact is worthwhile. The same thing goes for some of the past places I have worked but when I took on my ventures I was able to create operating procedures that make sense and develop strategies that make sense for the business I was in. I also felt a sense of value I was and am providing goods or services to those that need them benefitting myself and the customer. One of the main benefits of being an entrepreneur is the freedom it offers. You can set your schedule, work from anywhere, and pursue your own goals. This freedom comes with a lot of responsibility which can be hard to manage speaking from experience, and it can be extremely rewarding to know that you're in control of your destiny. Another exciting aspect of entrepreneurship is the potential for financial gain. While not all entrepreneurs become wealthy, the possibility of building a successful business that generates significant revenue can be a powerful motivator. My initial motivator blossomed into something more meaningful like I said providing people with what they need. Many entrepreneurs are inspired by the success stories of others. They see the amazing things that other people have accomplished and want to achieve similar success themselves. They may have a role model or mentor who has helped guide them along the way. I can say that mentors and role models have certainly been major motivators as well for all aspects of my entrepreneurial journey and I see them as one of the most important aspects for emerging leaders. Ultimately, what inspires someone to become an entrepreneur is a unique combination of factors that is specific to each individual. It may be a desire to create something new, solve a problem, or make a difference in the world. Whatever the motivation, the excitement and energy that comes with starting your own business can be incredibly rewarding.

I see faith as one of the most intriguing aspects of our culture. You can learn worlds about a person by what they choose as their guiding beliefs. When I was younger, most of my family were Catholics and Christians. At that age, I think it can be challenging to understand some of the complexities of faith. What is the point? Why am I here? These are just some of the questions I asked myself while attending church. A lot of the time, I viewed it as more or less a chore. As I grew into a young man, I could recall some of the lessons taught and appreciate them more. I even learned to seek out and respect other religions concerning their traditions and values to see faith as a way to come together. Sometime early in high school, I finally found what I consider my faith. Agnosticism is essentially the uncertainty of the existence of god but not a certain disbelief in god. Throughout high school, my faith helped me more than I could ever explain on paper. Through tough times I could always fall back on my beliefs because the way I see it, my faith is based on hope and accepting peace one way or another, giving life your all, persevering through the bad, and appreciating the good. Whether it be a life-changing event or a minor inconvenience, seeing an infinite number of possibilities is comforting to me, because I believe good shines through everything. That fact can keep me going indefinitely. I see my experience with my faith remaining constant for the rest of my educational journey and the rest of my life. So far in college, I have struggled, but my faith never lets these times get me down. I have been staying busy and trying my best not to say no to plans or opportunities because I know how fast time passes. Our time is truly the most priceless thing in the world, and we cannot afford to take it for granted. I won't lie, the pressure can be difficult, but all it takes is a little reminder of how short our time truly is to remind myself why I took on challenges in the first place. Regardless of how hard life gets, I won't quit until the lights go out, even if all that means is having a tighter schedule or going through the unimaginable. My faith hasn't failed me yet. It has got me through the harshest and most unforgiving points in my life. It makes me see the brighter side of things and creates the need to make the most of my time, especially in school. It helps me search for answers and try my best to understand people on a deeper level, and at the end of the road, I will be a dash of unique experiences with an enriched understanding of those around me. Knowing that to be true would be the best thing I could ask for because anything in life that matters, anything that really matters, comes down to what we leave behind and those close to us, so it's critical we leave our positive mark on the world and make the most of the time we have with those close.

They say the hardest step is the first and I have found out on more than one occasion that this reigns true. Today, I look around at my friends, family, and peers and I see a lack of hope and reason. I am a firm believer that sometimes being unreasonably altruistic to someone who is in a worse off position is the right thing to do, it’s our duty to look out for others. As you can imagine being a sophomore in college I don’t have immense means of helping out others but when I see someone struggling I do my best to help them out. Whether it is giving them a meal or giving them a gift around the holidays, if I am able to pay it forward I believe it is my duty to do so. Believe it or not, that small gesture may have a drastically positive impact on that person's mentality and launch them in the direction of success, I should know because I was once that person.
    Bold Friendship Matters Scholarship
When I was at some of the darkest times in life, I had vastly different types of friends and social circles. I can tell you that the people you associate with will affect you for the better or worse. Whether it is a minute or a major issue you are facing, a good friend will understand and try to help you, and they will do it sincerely out of the kindness of their heart. I think as we mature and learn from our experiences, this is something we all have to accept to become the best version of ourselves. Sometimes all we need is a little support through our greatest successes and our worst failures from good, dependable, understanding friends. So if I had to put it into words, I would say friendship means having someone to lean on that will make the bad times good, and the good times even better.
    Bold Investing Scholarship
I started investing early in the pandemic. I did not know the financial field and was scared of the risk involved especially considering I had very little money. I began to research low-risk strategies and some great investors of our time and what I found was the vast majority dollar cost average and invest for the long term. Investing for the long term stuck with me knowing that if I consistently invested and waited to cash out I would make much more money than I ever would simply save. I do want to say that something stuck with me more than this type of investment, investment in self. I learned that I could retire a millionaire by consistent investment. However to increase your standard of living in the short term the options are slim. A mentor of mine shared one of the best and most realistic options for the short term, and that was to start a business. I had thought starting a business would require massive barriers to entry, however, after utilizing the internet. I learned today anyone can make money online. After launching my online business, I have made more money than I ever thought possible. I want to take the profits from that business and reinvest it into a new scalable business, knowing that every dollar reinvested dollar could lead to countless opportunities in the future. After this experience, my mindset on investment changed forever. This journey of learning about how many types of investments there are has been a long and interesting road. Someday I hope to invest in creating a business that will change lives for the better.
    Ocho Cares Artistry Scholarship
Being an artist is waking up and deciding to express yourself in a way that means something to you, not concerned about how other people will interpret it. It is unapologetic, authentic self-expression. The funny thing about art is, no matter what you create, someone will be impacted by it positively or negatively be it may. Deriving meaning is what art is about, the artists' goal, and the connoisseur's interpretation and experience. Being an artist drives me to work hard and strive to understand opposing perspectives even if I don't get it at first. It also gives me what matters out of any hobby or career, that is personal fulfillment. That satisfaction you feel when you complete a big project, or that feeling that you have put out something that will bring joy to others. To me, I feel intertwined with the work I create. Everything I create represents growth in myself and society. Looking back at something I had done a few years ago brings back a wave of emotion and gives me a chance to reflect on how far I have come on my journey in this life and how far others have come as well. The action of observing and making this kind of progress is what drives so many people, a lot of people finding their driving motivation through their art or someone else art. Since I have begun creating art, my goal has been to evoke emotion. Using my current art form, I try to leave the viewer feeling happy, informed, and relaxed. It is good to have a balanced impact and let everyone feel all of their emotions. Making this kind of impact feels the most fulfilling to me, so I plan to continue down this road of creation. I plan to expand by writing and producing music in the future for some of the same reasons I am pursuing video writing and production. It is almost ingrained in our DNA to appreciate and resonate with what someone else tries to express through various art forms. That itself is art. Having the ability to see the beauty in something that you don't even understand and take something positive away from it is how we as individuals grow. With growth comes progress. With progress comes change. Change creates a better world for all of us, so strive to be bold and change this world for the better.

    Cat Zingano Overcoming Loss Scholarship
I always considered myself lucky for not experiencing life-changing losses, such as the death of a loved one. Little did I know not being used to anything of that nature, I would be left blindsided and broken. It being the person you least expect is nothing but a stupid cliché until it happens to you. I woke up on a late December day ready to get food with my friend Jake. He was one of my lifetime best friends, I met him while playing football in middle school. He was a kind, loving and loyal friend. I had some family things to attend to that morning, so I was going to message him in the afternoon to follow up on our previous plans to get food, at about 10 A.M. his brother called me, which was weird because we didn't talk much. He told me the news, which was something I immediately thought was a cruel joke. I kept trying to verify the reality of the situation over and over until he convinced me. When reality set in, I could not even open my mouth. I was in complete shock. I had to tell my family what happened through writing. Jake had taken his own life. I contemplated everything about friends, family, and relationships in my life leading up to that point, I did this for weeks. I could not understand what would make him do something like that and what I should have done or could have done to prevent it. You are not supposed to lose your friends that early in life, and definitely not the way we lost Jake. As I said, I began to think about everything. It was a reset for me. Every single thing I have ever said or done suddenly had meaning. I understood that the actions I do or don't take, affect everything. I started to think about what matters to me the most. Up until this point, I had been living on autopilot. If I died tomorrow, would I be happy with where I left things? My relationships, goals, and impact on the world? The value of our time branded itself into my head. Our time is priceless, so why not make the most of it? Every day I wake up, I think about how I can make the most out of my time to accomplish my goals, and help others do the same. I make it a priority to check in on my friends and family to make sure they are making the best out of their time and that they're feeling happy and healthy if they aren't I provide them support to get back on track because, in the end, the people in our lives are what really matter. With this in mind, my goal has become to build security, protection, and freedom for my family, friends, myself and leave a positive impact on the world. All in all, we need to be the best we can be with the time we have, shoot for the moon, and you'll land among the stars is what they say right? If you ask a group of people what they value most of all, chances are the majority will say, family. Family can be people other than just blood relatives, you know family, those who are there for you when you need it the most. Together, if we strive to improve and support ourselves, our peers and fight those internal battles we all face throughout our lifetime, we can improve our lives, the lives of our loved ones, and society as a whole.
