One thing I have done to try to make my school a better place is to lead by example. I try to do my part by staying out of trouble and teaching the lower class man right from wrong, and that having a good head on your shoulder will benefit you. I show them things that I thought were fun and where I ended up at and the difference in my life now. I don't encourage no bad behavior and I do not instigate anything. I have also tried to make a difference by joining a club called link crew that helps freshmen and sophomores with grades, in the classroom and around campus, and a place that makes them feel at home and welcomed. One thing I have done to help around my community is help plan a basketball tournament. Every summer there is a basketball tournament at Curson park hosted by the perfect image barber shop where they give free food to everyone who shows up, and they give the winning team a thousand dollars. Another thing I do to help around my school is being in Key Club. Key club is a club that goes around campus and the community around us and helps to keep it clean .This club provides us with a multitude of community service opportunities and helps us build character and develop leadership skills. Avid also hosts community service events like the harvest festival , which is a festival that we make up with games and pop up stands for the kids.

A person who has impacted me a lot in my life is my mother. My mom always pushed me to be great to be an overachiever and to always strive for excellence. Before I started my high school career my mom told me I was either going to go to college or go to the army. For me the army was not an option so that motivated me to get my stuff together and it motivated me to be a better person. I learned a lot from my mom just be watching her, she was chasing her degree in social working before she found out she had cancer. Although she had cancer she was still working, and she was still doing whatever she had to do to support me. My mom passed away October 23rd, 2021. She inspires me to do whatever I want to put my mind to, seeing her do what she does under the condition she was in motivates and inspires me every single day. The way people look up to me has inspired me to do better too. Everyday I motivate others and push them to be the best they can, even when they don’t see it in themselves. I see other’s potential and push them to strive to reach the top of it. I contribute to the football team a lot by leading by example, being a vocal leader and encouraging others to do what they need to do. Being the captain of the football team has a lot to do with resolving issues, being patient, and always being on top of your game. I try to keep the locker room calm, keep others from fighting and bickering, and hold everyone accountable for their actions. Being the captain of a football team is not always the easiest thing to be. It is so much that you have to keep up with, with always trying to make sure that my game is also on top. Another example of leadership is in my own household. My dad being on the road barely being home leaves me being “ the man of the house “ which keeps me on my toes at all times of the day. Meaning I have to lead by example to my younger sister. I have to make sure that she always sees me being a good person and doing the things that I am supposed to. Which goes into keeping my house cleaned, keeping things organized and in its proper order. Also with me doing those things I have to guide my younger sister and help fix the mistakes she makes along the way, along with helping out my mom so that stress won’t be all on her.

I want to attend college so I can get my degree in behavior science. With a degree in behavior science, I can help children and adults be more social, I can help out kids like me who have trouble opening up. I would also like to get a business degree, then start my own type of counseling for children that don't like to talk. This can help the world become a better place because kids go through a lot, and they have a lot of adversity to overcome because of the pressure there is to be a good person. Most families raise their kids and tell them they better not be a failure. In today's society it is hard dealing with school, dealing with bullies, dealing with sports, especially when parents don't pay attention to what's going on with you. Parents often overlook when their kids are going through depression or when their kids are going through something that is putting a toll on them. That's where I come in and that's where I want to be there for children and help them express what's going on. I think I would succeed doing this job knowing that I've been through a lot, and I know what depression feels like, also knowing the effects it has and knowing how hard it is to deal with while going to school every day and being on athlete or being in clubs. Having depression is no joke. When you have parents that don't really pay attention to you and when you don't feel comfortable talking to their parents and can't talk to them. When you have parents that get mad at you for opening up and saying how you really feel it is very hard.

Being an athlete, being in multiple after school clubs, and having to worry about maintaining a certain GPA it is already enough to deal with by itself. Having problems on the side with no one to talk to is not needed and it is something I can help with, I can show people how to deal with, and I can help kids overcome. In conclusion I want to help people, having someone to just tell how your day went can make everything easier. Having someone who cares about you makes you feel good, I want to be that person that makes a difference, that is what getting this scholarship would do for me

A challenge I have faced in the past 2 years is covid. Covid has affected me in the most unexpected ways by taking away a lot of stuff from me. 2 years ago, covid cut my sophomore year short and cut right into my 10th grade year of track, it also continued to cut through my 11th grade year of football and put me straight into my senior year of still going through cut off every week. Throughout quarantine I had to keep myself disciplined by keeping up with my training so that just in case our football season was to jump off, I would be more than prepared for my comeback. We didn’t start playing until around early April and only had five games which went by so fast. Covid also forced us into online school, which was something I never did before, and it was a difficult task to overcome. It was very difficult to even want to wake up and sit in front of a screen for 4 hours out of the day. Plus, everything that could prevent me from being a great student was there like my game, the tv, my phone, and the hardest was my bed. It was so difficult for me to get out of the bed, there were many times where I just stayed in bed during class not paying attention to anything. But, even with it being my first time doing online school being at home and not going out for a whole year, I still managed to have a high gpa, get my driving permit and my driving license and did a little job training as well. My life during this last year was most definitely not my easiest but overall, it taught me a lesson that I can accomplish anything that I put my mind to. And that no matter how much I just want to let my life go, that me staying strong and going through it all will benefit me in the end.

My greatest skill is management. Being an athlete, being in multiple clubs, and an older sibling at home is hard to manage all together. I am here at the school almost four hours every day after school. I have practice Monday through Thursday every day and my Wednesdays are even longer. I also have club meetings every Wednesday which get in the way of me having time to fully focus on my homework. I have to find ways to get everything done and stay on top of my grades in order to reach and keep a 4.0 GPA. Still having to do chores and still having to help my parents out is difficult. Sometimes it feels like everyone forgets that I am just one person and at that, a teenager. Then a talent I have is being an athlete, I am a varsity football player, and I am the captain. I play on both sides of the football, offensive and defense and I am an all-league lineman in the golden league. I also threw the shot put in track and field and I was top two in my league for the longest throw. My freshman year I played basketball on the freshman basketball team, and I was also a captain on that team as well. As I am putting this, I come to my own realization that I have come a long way and that I have gone through some very hard times and still manage to keep my head up. In addition to that, I have leadership that continues to be my main skill in all things. In every sport I've played I have been a captain, or I have been used as an example by coaches to others to be a better person and player. I have played multiple sports throughout high school and have been able to reach every goal possible that I have set for myself.
    Bold Growth Mindset Scholarship
Every kid is different in their own way, they all think different and they all have different ways to express their intelligence. There is a difference between a kid with a growth mindset and a fixed mindset. The way students think can help their view on grades, people, sports, and academically. A student with a fixed mindset will not grow and perform as well as a student with a growth mindset who will always go above and beyond and will succeed through most of his or her life. Criticism, effort, and the ability to work with your classmates are very important points that will show how a students with a growth mindset will be better than a student with a fixed mindset. Criticism is a big part in a child's life and they way they perform, it really can make them or break them. A student with a fixed mindset will not take criticism well, they would overthink it and take it as if they are being attacked or being singled out, basically taking it way to personal. A child with a fixed mindset always feels as if they have to please everybody around them and always feel special. They might not be as good in something and when they receive criticism they will feel like they have failed and they will give up. A child with a growth mindset will do the exact opposite. Students with a growth mindset will take criticism as an opportunity to grow and to be better. A child with a growth mindset will take it and use it to be better and use it to grow as a better student. These two mindsets are totally different and the person with a growth mindset will do better and succeed.

Most kids in our generation today are not patient and that's causes them to miss out on lots of things . Patients is key to everything and patients can make you a better person . Not being patient is never good because you always over look things and always pass up on your blessing . i feel like being patient is great and with being patient comes a great blessing .

The social justice movement has impacted me in a decent way. I am great full to have the things that I have but I know for a fact that my family doesn't have the finical support to pay for college.
