I want to become a police officer to serve my community and help people in need. I have always felt a calling to this kind of work. To put others before my self and help them in any way I possibly can. My father is a corrections officer as well so hearing about the things and the people he has to deal with on a daily basis just helps further push this feeling to help get those people where they belong. I have battle mental illness in my life and have been able to fight through the hard times so I will be better equipped to help those people who might also be fighting mental illnesses. I can show kind of empathy and truly understand how they feel and be better equipped to help them when they are in need of help. I would also like to pivot into a larger role as well. Either a detective or a bomb squad officer. I would like to be a detective to be able to have more of an impact in cases and putting people away. I want to make sure the right people are being locked up and that no innocent people pay the price for poor management or people doing their job poorly. I want to have the most control I can to save our community and make neighborhoods safe. I would also like to become a bomb squad officer. I have always been interested and intrigued with the inner workings of explosives and how to diffuse explosives. Something about it I have always longed for. I initially wanted to join the United Sates Air Force but after that path did not work out then this would also be a very desirable path for me. I feel I thrive in high stress situations and would be able to perform every duty that comes with it. I am very excited to go through this journey of becoming a police officer, and I am looking forward to joining the intense and elaborate family that comes with being a sworn officer. I am ready to take on any and every duty that comes with the job and am willing to do whatever it takes to perform my job to the furthest of my abilities and capabilities. I want to make my family and friends proud and to achieve my dreams of being a sworn officer for this grate and glorious nation.

Faith plays a huge role in my life. Faith saved my life, it brought me out of my lowest point and I am forever grateful for that. My local church group is really the only reason I have any friends since moving to Michigan. I moved here my junior year of high school, but I home schooled so I didn't have the normal outlet to make friends when I moved here. My youth group changed that, I made friends and was accepted and they have helped me so much to further my own faith and relationship with God. Before finding my faith,I struggled with multiple mental health issues. I battled anxiety, depression, and suicide. It felt like I was losing all these battles for so long and even took an attempt to take my own life, but since finding the Lord and my faith I have been a brand new person and have been so much better and happier. God has brought me an amazing girlfriend, who I can't wait to marry and build a family with. I have gained a new purpose since finding my faith and I was truly saved. Faith really plays the biggest role in my life and I am forever grateful for it, I would not be any where near the person I am today, and would not have any of the amazing things in my life without my faith. The main person who has pushed me to pursue a higher education has been my mom. She is very big on going to college and getting your degree so I want to make her happy in that way. Another driving factor is the job I want. I want to become a police officer, and possibly a detective or bomb squad officer. To be able to achieve this I need to get an associates degree in criminal justice and attend the Police academy both through a college. So to make my dreams come true I need to go through this college adventure. This scholarship would help me afford that, and make it more manageable to conquer my dreams and protect my community and neighborhood to make it a safer place for everyone. My whole family really supports my dreams and aspirations and I just want to make them all happy and proud. I want to follow in my older sisters footsteps who have also attended and one of them have graduated college and I hope to be able to do it just like them.

My journey into Christianity started about 2 years ago so I am a new Christian. I was in a really dark place at the time, I was fighting anxiety and depression and it felt like I was losing this horrific battle. It got to a point where I considered taking my own life, and even attempted to do so. It was at this point where I decided I needed a change of environment and eventually, change of faith. I moved to Michigan to live with my father, step mom, step sister, and my step brother. Here I changed a lot, a woman who worked with my step mom invited us to church one week. Her and her husband owned a church called Pentecostals of Williamston, and her husband was the pastor of this church. Here I didn't just find a church, I found a family. I found a love for God, and I am forever grateful for His mercilessness and grace. Since then I have defeated my anxiety and my depression and I have been so much happier in my life. I have found a wonderful girlfriend and I can't wait to lead a household of faith in our Lord. I have also started participating more in my church. It is a small congregation of only around 70 to 110 people. I have started doing the weekly ushering for offering, and also participating in some choir songs to perform as well. I am open to any and every amazing thing God calls me to and am so excited to see what he has next for me.Whether that is staying in Michigan with my father, marrying my girlfriend and starting a family with her, or moving back to Maryland with my mother I am eager to follow the Lord and what he has in store for me and my life. With my career, I aspire to become a police officer and to be able to help my community. I want to work with the people in my community to assist them, protect them, and make them feel safe and secure in their homes and neighborhoods. After becoming an entry-level officer, I would like to pivot to a different role. I would like to be either a detective or a bomb squad member. I would like to become a detective because then I can do more intensive work to lock up criminals. I also like to solve puzzles, and cases are kind of like a puzzle in a way. You have to bring together all your pieces or evidence to come to a solution of who you want to lock up. I would want to be a part of the bomb squad as well. Before I wanted to join the police force, I aspired to join the United States Air Force and become an EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) officer. Something about diffusing bombs and using explosives has always interested me. I don't really know how to explain it, but I’ve always wanted to understand the inner workings of explosives and how to disarm those same mechanisms. It’s a complex and high-risk job, but that challenge excites me. If I can someday combine that interest with public service, I would feel incredibly fulfilled. Whichever way my career goes, I know I will be happy protecting and serving the Michigan community and helping this world become a safer place for everyone. I am passionate about law enforcement, and I’m ready to dedicate my life to making a real difference. My plans are to join a cadet program with Redford Charter Township and become a cadet officer with them. I want to do this because I have heard they have a very good police cadet program, and I would like to learn under already sworn officers to get hands on experience in the world of policing. Being part of this program will give me valuable insight into the daily responsibilities of law enforcement and help me build a strong foundation for my future career. I also plan on attending Lansing Community College to earn my associate degree and complete the police academy there. This scholarship will help me achieve these dreams by easing the financial burden of college tuition, bringing me one step closer to my goal of becoming a police officer and giving back to my community in every way possible. After establishing myself as a police officer, I also plan to join the United States National Guard. Serving my country has always been a dream of mine, and I believe that combining a career in law enforcement with military service will allow me to make a real difference both at home and abroad. I am passionate about protecting others and creating safer environments for everyone, and I’m committed to dedicating my life to public service in every form I can. Overall I believe that God has placed this calling of public service on my heart for a reason. He brought me through one of the darkest chapters of my life not only to save me, but to position me to serve others. That experience, battling anxiety, depression, and feeling hopeless, has given me a deeper empathy for people who are struggling silently. I want to be the kind of officer and person who others can turn to in their time of need, someone who doesn’t just enforce the law, but truly uplifts the people in the community. My journey hasn’t been easy, but I know it has prepared me to lead with compassion, strength, and unwavering faith. As I move forward, I will continue to lean on my relationship with God to guide my steps, and I will stay active in my church, using my faith as a firm foundation in both my personal and professional life. I want to be a role model for young people, especially those who feel lost or without direction, and show them that no matter how broken they feel, God can restore and transform their lives. I am committed to making a difference, and I am ready to serve with courage, faith, and integrity.
