I was never worried about what I would do after high school. That decision was made a while ago when I was in kindergarten. I wanted to work in construction, but I wanted to be more than a laborer or an operator. My goal is to become a site supervisor, and later become the project manager of my own company. I want to be the one who will get the project done with quality and on time. The biggest reason for that decision was my father. As a kid, I wanted to see what it would feel like to be in the construction site my dad worked in. I remember the day when my mother took me and my brother to drop off my father's lunch. We got to the site and construction workers were working on making the ground flat, but I couldn't see my father. Farther up the road there was a big machine it was a grader. When we got off the truck I remember hearing the workers yell my father's name. They were telling my father that we were there. The grader circled back in our direction, and I remember seeing my father get off of it. In my mind he was the coolest person in the world, working the coolest job in the world. That day I knew that I wanted to be like my father. I wanted to work in construction and to be as good as him. During high school, I participated in the construction program for three years. In those three years, I competed in Skills USA teamwork, the SpecMix Jr bricklaying competition, the CIED building competition, and the TSA project competition. I wanted to find a trade that I Iove, and I did as I fell in love with carpentry and framing. However, on a field trip to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas I found out about construction management. I learned all about being a construction manager, and I loved it. I also learned about being a site supervisor, and that role has my name on it. I want to become a site supervisor I want to be close to the work and lead a team to success. However, I also want to later become the project manager for my own construction company. My father influenced my life in construction, and the field trip to Sam Houston State University asserted the career that I would take. With my hard work, I hope to become one of the best in the business, and like my father carry a reputation for doing amazing work. A big thank you for allowing me to apply for this scholarship.
