The story of my life took a profound turn in August 2023, when my grandmother was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer. This news plunged me into a period of deep distress and intense grief, pushing me to the brink of depression. I had never experienced such overwhelming sadness before. The feeling only intensified, culminating on February 1st, 2024, at 12:50 AM, when my grandmother passed away. Finding out about her death hours later, at 6:45 AM, and then having to attend school, left me feeling completely disconnected from myself and my surroundings. It was as if I was moving through life in a fog, my identity blurred by the immense loss. This period, marked by profound grief, forced me to confront the fragility of my own mental and emotional well-being. Though not a conscious decision to "prioritize" it in the way one might choose to eat healthier or exercise, it was a time when my health demanded attention. I learned that ignoring such deep-seated pain wasn't an option. The dissociation, the overwhelming sadness – these were clear signals that I needed to acknowledge and process what I was feeling. It was in this raw, vulnerable state that I also recognized a deeper connection between my personal suffering and the broader struggles women face, especially in societies that demean and silence them. The cultural teachings I had received, telling me periods were "impure" and "disgusting," echoed the feeling of being "dissociated" from my own body and experiences. The intense personal grief became a catalyst, illuminating how crucial it is to address not just individual pain, but also the systemic issues that contribute to women's dehumanization. This challenging experience fundamentally shaped how I am preparing for my future. It ignited an unshakeable inner calling for women's empowerment and a fierce determination that even the smallest change must happen. My grief transformed into a powerful resolve. This led to the launch of "The Next Flow" (@thenextflow.initiative) in December 2024, a global effort to break the stigma around menstruation and combat period poverty. For me, this initiative is not just about helping others; it's about healing myself, reclaiming agency, and ensuring that no one else feels the shame or isolation I once did regarding a natural part of life. By actively advocating and creating educational resources, I am taking steps to build a more accepting and supportive society. Furthermore, my aspiration to become a humane and compassionate gynecologist specializing in oncology stems directly from this period of intense personal reflection. I witnessed firsthand the impact of ovarian cancer and felt the profound grief of loss. Now, I want to be a part of reversing the "hysterical" beliefs that often surround gynecology, creating a field where women feel protected and understood. My commitment to composing the "Heal Humanity" anthology, using free-verse poetry to explore human nature and empowerment, is another extension of this learning – a way to process and share the depths of human experience, including pain and resilience. Every action I take, from advocacy to my career choice, is now driven by a desire to spread humanity and empower females, ensuring that my grandmother’s legacy lives on through a future where women are celebrated, supported, and truly seen.
      Bright Lights Scholarship
My future plans are rooted in my heart, driven by a desire to help women and make a genuine difference in the world. My dream is to become a compassionate and understanding gynecologist specializing in oncology. This path feels like a way to honor my grandmother, whose battle with stage IV ovarian cancer deeply influenced me. It also aligns with my commitment to advocating for women's health and well-being. I firmly believe that gynecology is an essential field, even though it's often overlooked or misunderstood. My goal is to challenge these outdated perceptions by creating a safe, welcoming space for women and encouraging open conversations about menstruation and female health. As an IB junior, I have begun this journey with "The Next Flow" (@thenextflow.initiative), a global initiative launched in December 2024. Through educational posts, videos, and plans for fundraisers and donation drives, we aim to break the stigma surrounding menstruation and support those affected by period poverty. We have reached about 1,500 people worldwide, and I am eager to expand our impact. Additionally, I am blending my love for free-verse poetry into an anthology called "Heal Humanity," exploring the complexities of human nature, society, and the power we all have to create change. These efforts are all part of my larger mission: to spread kindness and compassion in a world that truly needs it, and to empower women to become strong, active contributors to society. This $500 scholarship would be instrumental in helping me pursue my goal of becoming a caring gynecologist. While it may seem modest, it would ease my academic journey as I work toward earning a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Florida. Specifically, these funds would help cover essential expenses like textbooks and lab fees, reducing financial pressure and allowing me to focus fully on my studies. This scholarship would be a crucial first step toward my ultimate goal of obtaining an MD degree. Beyond my personal education, I am committed to ensuring that the benefits of this scholarship extend further. I plan to donate any remaining funds to organizations like The Pad Project, which works tirelessly for reproductive health equity. I also want to support local initiatives that provide health resources and education to underserved communities. By doing so, I hope the positive impact of the scholarship will reach far beyond my own goals, contributing to a cause I deeply care about and helping to build a society where every woman feels empowered.

I am Diya Patel, an incoming IB junior at Strawberry Crest High School in Florida. The story of my life dates back to August 2023, when I discovered heartbreaking news - my grandmother was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer. Distress would overwhelm me; I would never have met myself with intense grief to the point of depression until then. However, this feeling would only intensify. February 1st, 2024, at 12:50 AM would make a 360 turn in my life; my grandmother would be pronounced dead. It wouldn't be until 6:45 AM that I would find out this terrible news, and attend school, completely dissociated from my identity and the environment. Only if these were "woulds" and not "hads”. Only if I could have one last chance to say, "I love you baa". Only if I could change the past and create a breakthrough. It was at that moment that I decided that even the littlest change must happen. Society had always demeaned women and held misogynistic beliefs for as long as one could imagine. It taught women to "tiptoe" around reality, whether it be menstruation, appearance, or other ceaseless expectations. I, myself, was a victim of dehumanization, especially due to my brutalizing culture. From a young age, I was taught that periods are "impure" and "disgusting" and that I should "keep it to myself". This resentment, coupled with the legacy of my grandmother, sparked my inner calling for women’s empowerment. Thus, I began my journey towards advocacy and change. In December 2024, I introduced The Next Flow (@thenextflow.initiative), a global initiative aimed at breaking the stigma around menstruation and assisting with relieving period poverty through educational posts and videos in addition to prospective fundraisers and donation drives. Currently, we have impacted approximately 1,500 individuals worldwide, and I strive to continue and globalize our efforts in creating a society that openly accepts women, menstruation, and humanity in general. Moreover, I seek to incorporate my talent in free-verse poetry to compose an anthology, "Heal Humanity", which will focus on the intricacies of human nature, society, and empowerment. Soon, I deeply desire to become a humane and compassionate gynecologist with a specialty in oncology, in which I hope to further my efforts and long live my grandmother's legacy. Gynecology is a field often overlooked by society, and deemed "disgusting" and "inappropriate". I yearn to reverse these hysterical beliefs and assist in creating a supportive and protective environment for women. Simply seeing the domino effect of my goodwill onto society fuels my pleasure and desire to become a gynecologist and a humane member. My purpose is derived from spreading humanity in a progressing, ill-stricken world, and empowering females to become active and powerful citizens.

If selected, I would use the $1,000 scholarship to support my goal of becoming a compassionate gynecologist. While this amount may seem modest, it would significantly aid my academic journey as I pursue a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Florida. The funds would help cover essential expenses such as textbooks and lab fees, allowing me to focus on my studies without financial stress. This scholarship would be a vital first step toward my larger aim of obtaining an MD degree. In addition to supporting my education, I plan to donate any remaining funds to organizations like The Pad Project, which promotes reproductive health equity. I also intend to assist local initiatives that provide health resources and education to underserved populations. This approach ensures that the scholarship’s impact extends beyond my personal goals, contributing to a cause I am passionate about.
      Our Destiny Our Future Scholarship
My vision for making a positive impact on the world combines direct action with creative expression. I want to address important human needs and promote understanding among people. My main focus is to challenge societal stigmas and create a kinder, more compassionate world. This goal drives my initiative, The Next Flow, and my upcoming poetry collection, "To Heal Humanity." Through The Next Flow, I aim to tackle period poverty. This issue goes beyond just access to products; it is a serious human rights crisis that prevents individuals from accessing education, work, and basic dignity, keeping them trapped in cycles of disadvantage. To make a difference, I plan to raise awareness about period poverty. We will use digital platforms to share important information, debunk myths, and promote open discussions about menstrual health. These posts are crucial for breaking the silence and shame surrounding menstruation. In the future, I will expand my efforts by organizing donation drives to collect and give menstrual hygiene products to underserved communities. We will also hold educational workshops in schools and community centers to promote good hygiene practices, share knowledge, and encourage open conversations about menstruation. Our goal is to reach more people and create culturally sensitive programs for lasting change. By addressing period poverty, we’re not just providing products; we’re restoring dignity and enabling participation, helping to build a fairer and more sustainable world. My passion for poetry also supports my vision for global impact, which I express in my upcoming book, "To Heal Humanity." This project aims to create a kinder and more compassionate society. The poems will explore human nature and society, highlighting our shared vulnerabilities, connections, and the simple kindness we often overlook. Through my writing, I want readers to reflect on their own views, confront biases, and embrace compassion in their daily lives. By showing the complexities of being human—our struggles, resilience, and dual nature of light and darkness—I hope to inspire a shift towards greater understanding. This book is my way of contributing to a better world, demonstrating that words can also create significant change. I believe that creativity can spark conversations and foster empathy, inviting people from all walks of life to join in this journey of healing. Each poem will pave the way, encouraging individuals to dream of a brighter future and to recognize their essential role in uplifting those around them. It is my core belief that we should cultivate an environment where kindness thrives and empathy becomes a natural response. This approach demonstrates that positivity and compassion can transform lives and communities. We are all interconnected, and even the smallest actions can lead to significant changes in perspective and practice globally!

As a dedicated sophomore in the International Baccalaureate program, my passion for the medical field, particularly in gynecology, is deeply rooted in personal experience and a strong commitment to advocacy. This journey began with the heart-wrenching loss of my grandmother, who bravely battled stage IV ovarian cancer. Witnessing her struggles not only shaped my understanding of the clinical aspects of gynecological health but also opened my eyes to the societal stigmas that often surround discussions about the female reproductive system. These topics are frequently dismissed as "disgusting" or "inappropriate," which leaves many women feeling isolated and unsupported. In response to these challenges, I founded a non-profit organization called The Next Flow. This initiative is dedicated to promoting education about menstrual health and breaking down the barriers of stigma. Through The Next Flow, I have created a variety of interactive educational content aimed at informing and empowering individuals about women's health issues. I have partnered with organizations that share a similar vision, such as The Pad Project and The Period Movement, to expand our reach and amplify our message. Our collaborative efforts include not only educational campaigns but also product drives and fundraising activities to provide essential menstrual hygiene products to underserved communities. My ambition is to evolve this initiative into a global movement that supports and empowers women from diverse cultural backgrounds, ensuring that menstrual health education becomes accessible to all. In addition to my advocacy work, I am eager to pursue research opportunities in academic laboratory settings, focusing on understanding the complex behavior of cancer cells, particularly in epithelial cell biology. My goal is to contribute to the growing knowledge in this critical research area, as I believe that a deeper understanding of cancer mechanisms can lead to improved treatment options and outcomes for patients. As a published author, I intend to leverage my research findings to produce scholarly articles that offer new insights and foster further discussions in the field, all while continuing to advance the mission of The Next Flow. Ultimately, my primary objective is to enhance human well-being by advocating for healthy living practices and fostering an environment of ongoing education. I am committed to breaking down barriers that prevent open discussions about women's health and creating a more informed and supportive community. Through my advocacy and research, I hope to make a meaningful impact in the lives of women and contribute to a future where reproductive health is openly discussed and prioritized.

      Redefining Victory Scholarship
Success, in my view, is defined by the journey of growth that comes from overcoming struggles and achieving accomplishments. It encompasses the process of facing challenges and recognizing the lessons learned along the way. I believe success is not solely about reaching a final destination; rather, it’s the continuous development I experience throughout the process that truly matters. Each struggle, stumble, and victory contributes to my personal and professional growth, shaping me into the person I aspire to be. Receiving a scholarship would be a significant milestone in my definition of success. It represents not just financial assistance, but also a catalyst for achieving my dreams in the medical field, particularly in gynecology. The financial support would alleviate the burden of student debt, allowing me to focus more fully on my studies without the constant worry of financial constraints. This opportunity would enable me to immerse myself in my education and personal development, fostering a deeper understanding of the complexities of women’s health and the importance of compassionate care. Additionally, receiving this scholarship would provide me with access to valuable resources tailored for aspiring medical professionals. The opportunity for mentorship is invaluable; guidance from experienced practitioners could offer insights into navigating the rigorous demands of medical training and the complexities of a career in gynecology. Learning from those who have walked the path before me would equip me with practical knowledge and inspire me to push the boundaries of what I can achieve. Equally important is the chance to connect with a network of like-minded individuals who are also striving for excellence. Building relationships with fellow scholarship recipients and ambitious students fosters a collaborative environment where we can share experiences, support one another, and collectively overcome challenges. This sense of community is crucial, as it reinforces the idea that we are not alone on our journeys and that collective resilience can lead to shared successes. Ultimately, this scholarship would serve as a vital stepping stone toward becoming a knowledgeable and empathetic gynecologist. It would empower me to learn, adapt, and succeed not only in my medical education but also in making a positive impact on the health and well-being of the women I will serve in the future. This opportunity would help transform my aspirations into tangible achievements, bringing me closer to my goals while reinforcing my belief that success is deeply rooted in resilience and continuous growth. As I reflect on my journey, I am reminded that every challenge faced and lesson learned shapes the person I am today. This scholarship would not only validate my hard work and dedication but also inspire me to continue striving for excellence. I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and remain committed to using the opportunities presented to me to make a meaningful impact in both the medical field and the community at large. Thus, success would not just be in receiving the scholarship, but an invitation to embark on a lifelong journey of growth, learning, and making a difference.

I am a self-driven and compassionate student who is deeply passionate about promoting humanity and nurturing kindness in my community. This commitment is rooted in a genuine desire to assist others and to make a meaningful impact in their lives, regardless of how small that impact may be. My journey has been profoundly shaped by the recent loss of my beloved grandmother, who battled stage IV ovarian cancer. Her courageous fight has instilled in me a powerful sense of empathy and a strong commitment to the principles of humanity. Currently, I am in my sophomore year of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program in high school, where I am not only focusing on my academic growth but also aspiring to a career as a compassionate gynecologist and a published author. I am thoughtfully planning to embark on a pre-medicine track in my junior or senior year, as I believe that strong foundational knowledge in the sciences is essential for my future career in medicine. In addition to my academic pursuits, I have taken the initiative to establish a non-profit organization called "The Next Flow." This organization is dedicated to educating individuals about the female reproductive system and advocating for menstrual equity. By addressing these important but often overlooked issues, "The Next Flow" is gradually making a positive impact on the lives of individuals in my community, one person at a time. It is deeply gratifying to see the difference we are making and to empower others with knowledge about their bodies. The emotional toll of losing an immediate family member, especially to a medical illness, often catalyzes individuals to take action and contribute to progress in healthcare. I feel this deeply resonant drive within me, which propels my ambition to specialize in gynecology with a focus on oncology. I am particularly interested in studying malignant cells, such as epithelial ovarian carcinomas, as they were a significant factor in my grandmother's battle with cancer. Through this specialization, I hope to offer support, understanding, and innovative treatment options to patients facing similar challenges. Moreover, I aspire to write a research paper and potentially publish an awareness book that encourages the importance of regular medical check-ups and preventive health measures among the general population. By sharing both scientific data and personal narratives, I aim to inspire others to prioritize their health and make informed decisions. Throughout this journey, I am committed to upholding my core values of empathy, integrity, and respect, ensuring that all my future patients receive the highest level of care possible. Ultimately, my goal is to make a lasting positive impact on the world, enriching the lives of those I encounter through both my medical practice and my advocacy efforts.

This subject nurtures a mindset that thrives on curiosity, prompting me to ask questions and seek multiple perspectives. The process often mirrors the varied pathways we navigate in life, where different approaches can lead to successful outcomes. Moreover, mathematics has instilled in me the invaluable qualities of patience and resilience. There are many moments when I find myself grappling with difficult concepts or making mistakes along the way. During these times, the importance of perseverance becomes strikingly clear. With each trial and subsequent incorrect answer, I am reminded that challenges are a natural part of the learning process. It is through these difficult moments that I have learned to appreciate the significance of persistence, and eventually, the satisfaction that comes from overcoming obstacles. The sense of accomplishment I feel after finally grasping a tough concept, like in trigonometry or correctly solving a challenging problem is incredibly rewarding. It reinforces the idea that even small victories in mathematics are worthy of celebration. Moreover, the diverse problem-solving methods offered in mathematics encourage a unique form of creative thinking. There are often countless ways to arrive at the same solution, which fosters an environment of exploration and flexibility in thought. Ultimately, engaging with mathematics has greatly enhanced my problem-solving skills, preparing me not just for academic challenges but also for the complexities of life beyond the classroom. It teaches me to approach problems methodically, to analyze situations critically, and to remain open to different strategies. Mathematics, therefore, acts as a catalyst for intellectual growth, transforming the way I view challenges and opportunities alike. It is a dynamic and ever-evolving field that continually inspires me to think deeply and creatively.

As an aspiring gynecologist and a sophomore in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, I am wholeheartedly dedicated to making a positive impact in the field of women's health. My journey in this domain has been deeply personal and profoundly influenced by my grandmother, whose kindness and commitment to helping others have left an indelible mark on my values and aspirations. Sadly, my grandmother’s battle with ovarian cancer was a pivotal moment in my life, solidifying my resolve to contribute to the wellbeing of women everywhere. Her strength and resilience in the face of adversity inspire me daily, reminding me of the importance of compassionate care in healthcare. In an effort to address the gaps and stigma surrounding women's health issues, I took the initiative to found a non-profit organization called "The Next Flow." Our mission is to break the stigma associated with menstruation, a natural biological process that is often shrouded in silence and shame. Through educational campaigns, open forums, and distribution drives, we aim to promote awareness and foster conversations about menstrual health while also working to reduce period poverty. It's crucial to empower women and girls with the knowledge and resources they need to manage their health with dignity. Academically, I plan to pursue a pre-med track with majors in biomedical sciences or biology; these disciplines align closely with my aspirations within obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN). I believe that a solid foundation in these fields will equip me with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of medical education and practice. Engaging with organizations like Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) has enriched my understanding of healthcare and strengthened my leadership and advocacy abilities. HOSA has provided me platform opportunities to collaborate with like-minded peers who share my passion for uplifting communities and addressing healthcare disparities. One of the essential aspects of my journey is the commitment to ensuring that all women, regardless of their background, have access to quality healthcare. I intend to use my voice and platform to advocate for those who may not have the means to access the care they deserve. By confronting the stigma around women's health issues and pushing for equitable healthcare solutions, I aspire to contribute to a system that acknowledges and addresses disparities present within our healthcare framework. I share a powerful commitment with the honoree of this scholarship: to uplift communities and recognize the inherent dignity of every individual. Like them, I believe in the transformative power of education and compassion to create lasting change. My investment in academic excellence is not just for personal achievement but is driven by a desire to enact meaningful improvements in the world around me. By dedicating myself to both academic pursuits and empathetic healthcare, I hope to honor the legacy of those who have come before me. Upholding the values celebrated by this scholarship is a significant aspiration of mine; I wish to be a beacon of hope and support for women and girls, fostering an environment where they can thrive, feel valued, and access the best healthcare possible.

Adversity is an inevitable part of life, and one of the defining moments in my life was losing my grandmother to ovarian cancer. She was more than just a relative; she was my role model and the embodiment of love and kindness. Her presence brought stability and warmth into my life, and her passing left me overwhelmed with grief as I struggled to process the harshness of reality. As a young person, I grappled with unanswerable questions: Why do the kindest people face the hardest battles? Why does life take away those we hold closest? In the aftermath of her passing, I found myself in a haze of sadness, where even the smallest tasks felt monumental. However, during this time, I began to reflect on the values she had instilled in me. My grandmother lived a life of selflessness, always putting others before herself and spreading kindness wherever she went. I realized that while her physical presence was gone, the impact of her love and compassion would remain with me forever. Rather than allowing grief to consume me, I chose to honor her legacy by embracing the principles she lived by. This decision marked the beginning of my journey toward healing and growth. I found solace in my education and pursued my aspiration of becoming a gynecologist, a career through which I could emulate her kindness and bring humanity to others in times of need. My grandmother’s battle with ovarian cancer made me acutely aware of the gaps in women’s healthcare and the stigma surrounding these issues. This awareness deepened my resolve to pursue a path where I could make a tangible difference. I even initiated my nonprofit organization, “The Next Flow,” focused on educating others about the female reproductive system. In addition to my academic pursuits, I immersed myself in activities that aligned with my goal of spreading awareness about women’s health. Whether volunteering with organizations, attending webinars, or engaging in conversations about period poverty and reproductive health, I found that channeling my grief into purposeful actions was both empowering and healing. This experience taught me invaluable lessons about resilience and purpose. Adversity has the power to break you or build you, and the choice lies within. Losing my grandmother transformed me into someone who sees challenges not as barriers, but as opportunities to grow and give back. It instilled a deeper sense of empathy in me and a determination to serve others, especially those navigating their own adversities. To anyone facing similar circumstances, my advice is to take the time to grieve and acknowledge your emotions. There’s no timeline for healing; as you process your loss, look for ways to honor what you’ve lost by channeling your energy into something meaningful. Seek support when you need it—whether from loved ones or your community—and remember that you are not alone. Hardships can feel overwhelming, but they also have the power to shape you into someone stronger, more compassionate, and more purposeful.

I explore the intricate intersections of literature and human experiences in my published poetry, where I attempt to capture the nuances of life’s stories and emotions. My aspiration to write a book that delves into the intricacies of humanity is fueled by a desire to contribute meaningfully to the world, especially following the recent death of my grandmother. Each poem I compose reflects my commitment to quality and thoughtfulness, allowing me to express profound concepts and inspire others through the power of words. Equally important to me is my dedication to community service, a value I hold dear. I initiated a non-profit organization named, “The Next Flow,” which addresses period poverty in underprivileged areas, challenging the stigma surrounding menstruation. This initiative reflects my commitment to tackling pressing social issues, fostering awareness, and creating positive change. On February 1, 2024, my world shattered in a way I never thought possible — my beloved grandmother, my confidant and best friend, was taken from me after her fierce battle with stage IV ovarian cancer. Her diagnosis came just as I stood on the threshold of high school, a time I had anticipated with so much hope and excitement. Instead, that moment marked the beginning of a tumultuous journey filled with emotional turmoil, where the thrill of new beginnings clashed painfully with the heartbreaking reality of saying goodbye. Throughout her illness, I was by her side in the hospice, desperately clinging to the moments we shared. Despite the surroundings, we created precious memories. Playing Sequence, our favorite game, and taking long, meandering walks became our sanctuary. Each step was a mixture of laughter and soul-baring conversations about life, values, and dreams. Those walks provided a brief escape from the harsh realities of illness, where I learned invaluable lessons wrapped in love and vulnerability. Now, those fleeting moments feel like the only light in an otherwise overwhelming darkness. When she left this world six months later, the weight of her absence dragged me into a deep abyss. I felt as if I were drowning, fighting against the crushing waves of grief that left me quieter, more withdrawn. Each day was a struggle, and I watched my social circle dissolve as I grappled with a profound silence that echoed her absence. Her departure left a gaping void in my heart, a wound that still aches. Yet, even in my most desolate moments, I cling to the lessons she imparted. Her unwavering selflessness and compassion serve as a flickering light in my lingering sorrow, guiding me through this tumultuous sea of loss. In the aftermath of this devastating loss, my aspirations have taken on a sharper focus. I yearn to become a gynecologist, driven not merely by ambition but by a deep-seated desire to honor my grandmother’s memory. I strive to embody her spirit of kindness in my future career, hoping to infuse compassion into a world often overshadowed by pain. As I reflect on her life — the love she radiated and the warmth she shared — I am determined to channel that energy into helping others. My goal is to keep her spirit alive in every interaction, allowing her legacy of love and compassion to resonate far beyond my own heart, touching the lives of many just as she touched mine. In my pursuit, I hold tightly to the belief that her light can still shine in this world, even through the darkness of my grief.

My ultimate goal is to become a compassionate and skilled gynecologist. This career choice aligns with my desire to provide caring support to women and is deeply influenced by the loss of my grandmother to ovarian cancer. Her passing instilled in me a profound sense of purpose to advocate for women’s health. Although achieving this aspiration is challenging and time-consuming, I have outlined a detailed plan that encompasses education, practical experience, advocacy, and personal interests. I am currently a sophomore in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, where I am enrolled in rigorous math and science courses, including AP Statistics, AP Pre-Calculus, and Pre-IB Chemistry. I plan to continue my studies in the IB program by taking courses like IB Higher Level (HL) Biology, IB HL Psychology, and IB Analysis and Approaches Mathematics. After graduating from high school, I intend to pursue a pre-med track in college, majoring in biology or biomedical sciences. During this time, I will focus on excelling in prerequisite courses, engaging in meaningful research, and preparing thoroughly for the MCAT. To achieve these goals, I will need access to strong academic programs, comprehensive study materials, and mentorship from professors and healthcare professionals. I anticipate annual tuition expenses ranging from $30,000 to $50,000, depending on the institution, along with additional costs for books and standardized tests. I aim to secure scholarships and balance part-time work to mitigate these financial challenges. Hands-on experience is crucial for understanding patient care and the dynamics of healthcare. I plan to continue volunteering with the American Red Cross and seek shadowing opportunities at local clinics and hospitals. Taking on leadership roles in organizations like HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) will further enhance my ability to contribute meaningfully to the healthcare community. Although volunteering and shadowing require connections with healthcare facilities, reliable transportation, and professional attire, the rewards in terms of experience and perspective are invaluable. Beyond my clinical aspirations, I am committed to addressing period poverty, a critical issue in women’s health. My initiative, "The Next Flow," is an awareness campaign aimed at providing menstrual products to underserved areas and breaking societal stigmas surrounding menstruation. By organizing donation drives, conducting educational workshops, and collaborating with local NGOs, this program will address a broader spectrum of women’s health challenges and complement my career. The resources required include partnerships with sponsors and NGOs, as well as promotional tools like social media campaigns and printed materials. I estimate an initial setup cost of approximately $1,000 to cover product procurement, transportation, and outreach efforts. Achieving my goals requires a disciplined timeline. In the short term, I will focus on academic excellence, gaining healthcare experience, and launching "The Next Flow." Over the next four to eight years, I aim to graduate with a pre-med degree, excel on the MCAT, and secure admission to medical school. Beyond that, my long-term plans include completing medical school and specializing in gynecology within the next twelve years. Success will depend on meticulous time management, adaptability, and continuous self-assessment. By leveraging available resources, maintaining financial discipline, and seeking guidance from mentors, I am confident in achieving these milestones. This journey is not merely about attaining a profession or achieving financial success; it is about fulfilling a purpose that resonates deeply with my values and aspirations.
