Desire To Inspire Scholarship
1) To me, inspiration is a seed that is planted by a person that you look up to that can, if acted upon, entirely transform your circumstances. Ideally, your inspirer has achieved a status that you aspire to attain. Inspiration starts small like a seed; it grows beneath the surface and is watered by the continual labor of the inspirer. Before you know it, a tiny shoot comes out of the ground, that’s when inspiration becomes purpose. You’ve already been inspired, and now it’s your job to take it to the next level. It is your turn to continue growing, with or without the aid of the inspirer. Even when the inspirer is no longer there or is no longer a normative character in the story of your life, now that it is purpose, you are self-driven and self-motivated, and anything that comes in the way of your purpose is thrown aside like a tornado ripping through the countryside.
As an inspirer, your job is to plant a seed in fertile ground and nurture the dream till it becomes reality. You must maintain a professional outlook at all times, so the seed doesn't die. There are many inspirers in our community, whether it be in sports, church, school, or even in healthcare. Mostly, physicians inspire others by being the best at their work. Sure, they can talk a lot and give great motivational speeches, but it means nothing if he treats people rudely, disregards hygiene protocols, and is wholly unprofessional. I have been inspired by Dr. Ben Carson and his healthcare service ever since reading his autobiography, Gifted Hands. Like Dr. Carson, I will be an inspiration to the people around me by doing my job, doing it right, and selflessly serving people less privileged than me. I will do my best to leave a positive, lasting impact on everyone I encounter through my professionalism and desire to lend a helping hand.
2) I inspire those around me by being a good example for others to follow, encouraging people never to give up on their dreams, and focusing on self-improvement. Today's generation is lacking role models, and we can see the effects on our society as a result. I do my very best to maintain integrity and to be the one that those younger than me and older than me can look up to.
Many people in this world have tried to achieve something and have failed, so they consider themselves a failure and give up. Those people need someone to tell them that they can still accomplish their goals no matter how many times they have failed. To inspire people, you need to encourage them because they may get discouraged when things get tough, and they look to you for direction. This is what I strive to do for those in my sphere of influence.
If people looked up to you at one point in your life, but you never improved from there, there will come a time when they will pass your level and will no longer need to have you as a role model. That is why I try to constantly advance myself, whether it be academically or socially.
3) If granted this award, I would use it to help pay for my college tuition. I would study to be the best I can while in college so that when the time comes to enter medical school, I can get more scholarships and match my top choices. I will be a source of inspiration to others in college because of my relatively younger age. They will see that if a 16-year-old is doing amazingly as a freshman, they can do much better at 18. This award will greatly help me in my desire to inspire the world around me.
