My name is Dinh Diem My Ngo, and I am currently 18 years old. I am a Mira Mesa High School senior taking college courses at San Diego Miramar College with the goal of obtaining an Associate Degree. My dream is to transfer to UC and earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. I have always been fascinated by the way chemicals interact and change, and I hope to pursue a career in research to uncover new ways to improve the world through chemistry. The reason I chose this career path is because of my passion for understanding how things work at a molecular level. Chemistry excites me because it offers endless opportunities to make a positive impact on the world. I dream of working in a research lab, discovering new materials that could revolutionize industries and improve people's lives. Throughout my time in school, I have found real joy in using what I know to help others do their best. It all started with one moment that really stuck with me. When I was in high school, I volunteered at a local community center and met a student who was really struggling with math. They felt so down about it, and I just could not sit by and watch. So, I offered to help them out whenever I could. As I explained the tough stuff and gave them advice, I saw a real change in how they felt about the subject. Seeing the happiness and confidence they got from understanding the material left a big impression on me and made me want to keep using my skills to help others in school. My journey to find this passion has been all about getting better at what I do and learning as much as I can, especially when it comes to teaching. I have taken on tough classes, joined tutoring programs, and even done research to figure out how to be a better teacher. These experiences have not only helped me grow but have also given me the tools to support and guide others in a better way. I have made it my mission to create a supportive and encouraging environment for those around me. I have been a mentor to my peers and younger students, helping them with their school struggles and personal growth.
