Bio

My life goal is to take things one step at a time. I intend to start off as a teacher, until I settle down and become a mother. My real dream in life is to be a stay-at-home mother. Once my kids are a little bit older, I want to become a librarian. I am most passionate about books. I love books with every fiber of my being, and I can talk about them for hours on end. What I love best is when books mix in with my other passion: my faith. Lord of the Rings is by far the best series I have ever read, because of this very reason. I am a great candidate because I have things in order. I know my dream for life, I know what I am passionate about, and I know what the true meaning of my life is. I handle everything that is thrown at me, and I take it in stride.

I wish to pursue a career in education because I understand how important it is to teach. Teachers, while they are not necessarily who you think of when you think 'hero,' are likely the most important piece in society. I am attending North Greenville University this fall, and my major will be Early Childhood Education. My reason for choosing this particular major is divided up into two parts. The first part is because I love seeing little kids work things out. They are so smart, and they can figure out things you would never expect them to. I have a little three-year-old girl that I watch sometimes, who astounded me with her memory. I was playing a game of memory match with her and two other little girls, who were four. The four-year-old's were not very good at the game, and kept getting distracted. But the three-year-old was exceptional at it. She could remember exactly where she had seen the match to a card, and she would find it. I was amazed at her skill. I babysit kids all the time, since I know a lot of moms with young kids, so I get to see how their minds work, in all age groups. One of the families that I sometimes watch has four kids, ranging from two to eleven. They are all such brilliant, imaginative kids, but they express themselves in entirely different ways. The youngest has learned how to tell what it is he wants, and he will be very clear with his desire. The oldest, however, likes to be tricky sometimes. She likes to make her voice different, and act difficult sometimes, because she doesn't want to straight-up tell me when she's unhappy with what we're doing. Even though she's more mature than her brother, he is able to express himself in a more straight-forward way. The second part of my wanting to become an early childhood teacher is because early childhood is the most critical point in childhood. Younger kids are very impressionable, and they take in more than one would expect. I love talking to younger kids, because they have such interesting brains. I'm teaching a class at my homeschool co-op, and the age of the kids range from kindergarten to second grade. The class is called 'How stuff's made,' and I teach about how stuff's made, as you could likely guess. I love to let them guess beforehand what things are made of, and they usually have a pretty close idea as to what it is! I'm always impressed with their ability to deduce the answer, based on nothing but what they see, feel, smell, or even taste! In short, I want to pursue a career in education because it is a necessary job. There is always a need for teachers, so I know that I will not have to fight for that job. Plus, teachers have a large influence on a child's life. I would like to be a good influence to the next generation. You never know which one could be a teacher when they grow up. Might as well be a good teacher, to inspire them.
