Evan T. Wissing "Choose a better life" Scholarship
Let me take you back to where my life first started. I lived in Denver Colorado and I was about 5 years old at the time. I had one brother and one sister and it was just me and them. Since I was young my parents were really bad drug addicts and they couldn't stop themselves from craving those drugs. I had to take care of my siblings when I was the age of five and my youngest sister was only about two years old. My parents didn't care much about us and they were always gone from the house. When they were drunk or high they would beat me because they didn't like me. They would lock me in a closet for days and I would go days without food. I was only about 5 or 6 at this time and so I didn't have a childhood like most kids had. I would feed my siblings and I would change them and do everything that a mother should have been doing. I am thankful it happened to me because it made me grow up faster and it helps me be a stronger individual. I was adopted about the age of 7 by a wonderful family but I still struggled with some trauma that I had been left with. Now that I am a senior in high school I plan on going to lineman school and pursuing my dream of being a lineman so that I can help people in need and give these people electricity. I want to make a point that no matter what you've been thrown or no matter what your going threw there is always a rainbow on the other side of the storm. Now that I'm about to graduate I just want to spread what I've been thrown because for me to get to where I am now it took a lot of tears and a lot of guts. I could have given up and rolled over and just let the world get the best of me. When I graduate I want to go work as a lineman in colorado. I chose this career because I can help other people in need. I like to put other people first and I like to put myself last. It makes me feel better when I help somebody in need because I used to be that person in need. The last thing I want to say is to thank you for the chance to run for this scholarship.
