    Mental Health Importance Scholarship
I believe that mental health is one of the most important aspects of overall well-being, if not the most critical. The brain, as the central organ in our bodies, plays a vital role in how we function daily. Mental health encompasses not just the correct functioning of the brain but also how it influences our emotions and behaviors. When someone is in a depressive state, it can affect every aspect of their life, leading to days filled with despair and hopelessness. Unfortunately, many people experience these struggles in silence, and such circumstances can lead to irreversible situations if not addressed. To maintain my mental wellness, I engage in what I call "mini-vacations." When I start to feel disconnected or overwhelmed, I take a day for myself, stepping away from work and responsibilities. I understand that not everyone has the luxury to simply get up and leave their obligations. However, even dedicating just an hour to something you truly enjoy can be vital for your mental health. It’s all about finding small moments of joy and relaxation amid the chaos of daily life. One of my favorite ways to rejuvenate is by attending concerts. While these events are often just a few hours long and can sometimes be costly, I always find them worth the investment. There’s something incredibly liberating about losing myself in the music, screaming the lyrics, and dancing the night away with friends. Even if I leave with a sore throat and aching feet, I come out feeling refreshed and relieved from the stress I was facing before. The shared energy and excitement at concerts provide an incredible release, reminding me of the joy that can be found in life, even when things seem heavy. In addition to concerts, I also find solace in quieter activities that help me reconnect with myself. This can include reading a book, taking a walk in nature, or practicing mindfulness through meditation. These moments allow me to clear my mind and focus on what truly matters, creating a balance that is essential for maintaining my mental health. I believe it is crucial for everyone to recognize the importance of mental health. We often prioritize physical health, but mental wellness deserves the same attention. Taking time for self-care, whether through mini-vacations or other forms of relaxation, can have a profound impact on our overall quality of life. It’s about finding what works for you and making a commitment to prioritize your mental well-being. In conclusion, mental health is a critical component of our overall wellness. By acknowledging its importance and actively engaging in practices that promote mental wellness, we can lead more fulfilling lives. Remember to take care of yourself—your mental health matters.
New Generation of Latino Leaders Scholarship
Having a foreign-born parent has profoundly shaped my academic experience and influenced my future goals. Throughout my life, I’ve connected with peers from various backgrounds, creating a rich tapestry of friendships. However, there are moments when I’ve thought, “Since we share the same race, we must have similar stories.” The classic narrative of first-generation students often involves parents dumping all English responsibilities on their children, hoping for the best. I remember being just seven years old, struggling to understand the English language while translating government documents for my parents. But that’s not always the case. While my friends are diverse in ethnicity, their families have been in the U.S. for generations, unlike mine. As the first in my family born in the U.S., I carry a unique set of challenges. Not only am I a first-generation student, but I am also the eldest daughter in my family. I thought I could manage the translating and the English conversations, but everything changed when I began applying for college. The process was nothing like applying for high school. I had to create profiles, search for scholarships, write essays, and navigate a sea of unfamiliar terms and processes. During this whirlwind, I felt overwhelmed and alone. I couldn’t turn to my parents for guidance because they had no experience with the college application process. They had grown up very poor, which deeply affected their education; my dad only completed middle school, while my mom started high school but never finished. I often found myself envious of my American friends who had parental support, some even having their parents fill out applications for them. When it was my turn to graduate, the experience was bittersweet. It was the best feeling in the world—a sense of relief mixed with sadness. I felt an emotional tug because my parents never reached the educational milestones I had achieved. Despite their sacrifices and hard work, their circumstances limited their opportunities. This realization fueled my determination to prove to them that their efforts were not in vain. I strive to honor not just my parents but also my grandparents and great-grandparents, and everyone who came before them. I think of the women who fought for their rights, the men who labored tirelessly in the fields, and all those who dreamed of opportunities that felt out of reach. My degree is not solely mine; it represents the aspirations of countless family members who could only dream of such possibilities. I stand strong for those who came before me, and I will continue to advocate for those who come after me. I aim to provide support to future generations, ensuring they have the guidance and resources I once lacked. Education is a powerful tool, and I believe in its ability to transform lives. My journey is not just about personal achievement; it’s about breaking barriers and creating pathways for others. I stand for education for all, and I will strive to make that a reality for everyone.
    Minecraft Forever Fan Scholarship
Minecraft! A game where everything is what you make of it. Literally. You get to build, survive mobs, and create food, along with several fan-made or official packages that allow you to modify your world to your liking. This game has been played and loved by millions of people around the world. Although many of us started playing Minecraft as children, it hasn’t been left behind like other toys. Many of us still continue to play Minecraft with friends and family. Minecraft became especially important to me during the pandemic. With restrictions on outdoor activities and gatherings, I sought comfort in playing Minecraft at home with friends. We built houses, developed a town, and eventually created an entire city on our own server. This collaborative effort transformed our virtual space into a vibrant community, fostering a sense of connection during a time of isolation. While we may not be experts at slaying the Ender Dragon or defeating Endermen, we found joy in the building aspect of the game. It allows us to realize our inner architects, letting our creativity run wild. Each project became an opportunity to express ourselves and explore our imagination. From towering castles to cozy cottages, we built structures that reflected our personalities and dreams. The building process in Minecraft resonates deeply with me. It’s not just about placing blocks; it’s about crafting a story. Each creation holds memories of laughter, teamwork, and shared experiences. We often worked late into the night, excitedly discussing our next project, brainstorming designs, and celebrating our progress. This sense of collaboration and creativity made each moment in the game special. In addition to the creative outlet, Minecraft taught me valuable life skills. Planning a large build requires organization and foresight. I learned to sketch my ideas and think critically about resource management. These skills translate to real-life situations, where planning and execution are essential. The ability to adapt to challenges, whether it’s finding the right materials or overcoming obstacles in design, has helped me become more resourceful. Moreover, Minecraft’s community aspect enriched my experience. Connecting with others who share the same passion has opened doors to friendships and collaboration. I’ve participated in online forums and shared our creations, receiving feedback and inspiration from fellow players. This exchange of ideas fosters a supportive environment where creativity thrives. The game also serves as a therapeutic escape. When I immerse myself in Minecraft, I can forget about daily stressors and lose myself in a world of possibilities. The repetitive action of building becomes meditative, allowing me to focus my thoughts and find peace. In a virtual landscape where I can create my ideal environment, I feel empowered and free. Ultimately, Minecraft is more than just a game; it’s a platform for creativity, collaboration, and personal growth. The skills I’ve developed, the friendships I’ve forged, and the memories I’ve created are invaluable. As I continue to explore this ever-evolving world, I remain grateful for the role Minecraft has played in my life, especially during challenging times. In conclusion, Minecraft has been a significant part of my journey, offering endless opportunities for self-expression and connection. I cherish the moments spent building with friends and the lessons learned along the way. It’s a game that continues to inspire me, reminding me that the only limit is my imagination.

As a Latina first-generation Mexican American student, I chose to pursue higher education to break the cycle of limited educational attainment in my family. My ancestors faced barriers that prevented them from reaching their full academic potential. I want to change that narrative—not just for myself, but for the generations of women in my lineage who fought tirelessly for opportunities. For me, higher education represents hope and resilience. Each step I take in my academic journey honors the women who came before me—my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—who navigated their struggles. Their experiences motivate me to strive for excellence and ensure that their dreams are realized. I aspire to pave the way for future generations, showing that it is possible to achieve higher education, regardless of background. Preparing for college has been a significant challenge, especially without a family roadmap. My family lacks experience with college applications and navigating higher education. To overcome this, I sought resources and support. I attended workshops, met with school counselors, and connected with mentors who provided guidance. Joining programs designed for first-generation students has been particularly helpful, offering insights and fostering a sense of community. The transition to college has often felt like navigating a hurricane—full of unpredictable twists and turns. The academic workload, social dynamics, and financial pressures have been overwhelming at times. However, each obstacle has taught me resilience. I’ve learned to adapt quickly, viewing challenges as opportunities for growth. When I faced difficulties in a subject, I sought help from professors and peers, which improved my understanding and strengthened my communication skills. In addition to academic preparation, I focused on developing essential skills like time management and self-advocacy. Balancing coursework and extracurricular activities has taught me to prioritize effectively. These skills are crucial for my college success and will serve me throughout my life. I’ve learned to advocate for myself, whether by asking for clarification from professors or seeking assistance from campus resources. This newfound confidence has been empowering. I also recognize the importance of my cultural heritage in shaping my educational journey. Embracing my identity as a Latina has fueled my passion for social justice. I am motivated to advocate for marginalized communities, focusing on issues like educational equity and access. I want to use my education to create positive change and ensure that others have opportunities. By standing up for those facing similar challenges, I can honor the legacy of my ancestors and contribute to a more just society. I engage in my community through volunteer work. Participating in local organizations that support underprivileged youth reinforces my commitment to education. I want to share my journey and inspire others facing obstacles. By being a role model, I hope to encourage young students to pursue their educational dreams, showing that with determination and support, anything is possible. Ultimately, my pursuit of higher education is about breaking barriers and building bridges. I am determined to be the first in my family to graduate from college, but I also aim to uplift those who follow in my footsteps. My journey as a first-generation Latina student has been challenging yet rewarding. Each day, I remain focused on my goal: to create a lasting impact for future generations. In conclusion, pursuing higher education is not just a personal aspiration; it is a mission to honor my heritage and create opportunities for others. I am committed to transforming my dreams into reality, not just for myself but for the lineage of women who inspired me. As I navigate my college experience, I remain dedicated to making a meaningful difference.

    Nintendo Super Fan Scholarship
One of my fondest memories revolves around playing Nintendo games with family, particularly during a Christmas Eve gathering that turned into a memorable gaming session. My favorite game to play in co-op mode is Mario Kart, a classic choice that has provided endless fun and competition. A particular moment from a Christmas Eve session solidified Mario Kart as my top choice and remains a cherished memory. It was Christmas Eve, and the excitement in the house was palpable. The entire family had gathered at my house to celebrate, and my cousins and I were eagerly playing on the Nintendo 3DS. The game of choice that night was Mario Kart, and we were racing on the iconic Rainbow Road track. The room was filled with the sounds of cheerful banter and the occasional exclamation as we navigated the colorful and challenging course. Despite the anticipation of Santa’s arrival and our parents urging us to get some sleep, our enthusiasm for the game kept us glued to our screens, oblivious to the time. During one of the final rounds, I was playing as Yoshi and was in second place, trailing behind my cousin who was ahead of me. The tension was high as we approached the last stretch of the track. Just as I was starting to lose hope of catching up, my fortune took a dramatic turn. Out of nowhere, a blue shell—a notorious item known for its game-changing impact—struck my cousin, who had been leading. Seizing the opportunity, I used a mushroom boost to propel myself past him and into first place. As I crossed the finish line, I was elated. For years, my cousin had consistently beaten me, and finally, I had managed to pull off a victory. The thrill of that moment was unparalleled. It wasn’t just about winning; it was about the long-standing rivalry and the joy of finally coming out on top after so many close calls. My cousins and I laughed and celebrated, creating a memory that would be recounted for years to come. Even as the night drew to a close and the anticipation of Santa’s arrival beckoned, that victory on Rainbow Road remained a highlight of our holiday gathering. As time passed and we grew older, our Mario Kart rivalry continued. Now, with the advent of the Nintendo Switch, we’ve expanded our racing experiences, playing on a variety of tracks and reliving the nostalgia of our childhood games. The competitive spirit remains as strong as ever, with each of us vying for first place in every race. While my cousin occasionally claims victory, the Christmas Eve triumph on Rainbow Road remains a significant milestone in our ongoing rivalry. In reflecting on that experience, Mario Kart stands out not just as a game but as a vessel for cherished family moments. The game’s ability to bring people together, foster friendly competition, and create lasting memories is unparalleled. The camaraderie and rivalry we experienced during that Christmas Eve session exemplify why Mario Kart has become a beloved choice for co-op play. The game’s blend of fun, strategy, and nostalgia makes it a standout favorite, ensuring that each session continues to be filled with excitement and memorable moments.

    GUTS- Olivia Rodrigo Fan Scholarship
A lyric from Olivia Rodrigo's album GUTS that deeply resonates with my teenage experience is from the song "Lacy": "I don't want to be you anymore." This lyric captures the essence of adolescence and the accompanying challenges, reflecting the internal conflict many teenagers face when grappling with self-identity and self-worth. Turning 20, I find myself no longer a teenager, yet emotionally I still feel that way. The quarantine lockdown seemed to freeze time during some of my most formative years, and I lost out on experiences that are often considered essential to youth. This period made me realize how I spent those years feeling shy and holding back, which left me with regrets about not fully enjoying life or seizing opportunities. Songs like Olivia Rodrigo’s help me understand that I am not alone in feeling like time has slipped away, and the feelings of regret and missed opportunities are shared by others. Despite the passage of time and the transition into adulthood, I still struggle with shyness, though I've made strides in being more open and socially active. I've connected with new people, including friends from Olivia Rodrigo's fan base, who share similar experiences and emotions. These connections provide comfort and a sense of community, reminding me that others have also faced and overcome similar challenges. The lyric "I don't want to be you anymore" resonates because it reflects a desire to escape from self-doubt and the feeling of being stuck in a place of insecurity. It underscores the struggle of reconciling who we are with who we want to be, a common experience during adolescence and young adulthood. This song, and others like it, offer solace and affirmation that these feelings are part of the journey, and that personal growth is ongoing. Looking ahead, I plan to evolve by continuing to challenge myself and step out of my comfort zone. I am committed to overcoming my shyness by actively seeking opportunities for personal and professional development, such as joining clubs, pursuing internships, and engaging in community activities. I aim to build on the connections I’ve made, learning from others and expanding my social network. By embracing these experiences and remaining open to change, I hope to grow more confident and self-assured. Olivia Rodrigo’s music will continue to be a source of inspiration as I navigate this ongoing journey of self-discovery and transformation. Ultimately, Olivia Rodrigo’s music helps articulate and validate these complex emotions, offering a soundtrack to my own experiences of navigating through adolescence and the transition into adulthood. As I move forward, I am committed to evolving and embracing my growth, drawing strength from the lessons learned and the connections made along the way.

    Billie Eilish Fan Scholarship
Billie Eilish has a unique ability to produce music that has a great impact on my generation and generations to come. My top three Billie Eilish songs are,’Listen before I go’,’Everything I wanted’, and ‘watch’. Although they are not up beat songs like some of her other tracks. Such as, her global sensation ‘Bad Guy’ or ‘My strange addiction’ and many other of her global hits. I find her sad tracks to be the best because they are the most relatable. These songs resonate deeply with me because she was able to capture raw and unfiltered emotions that other artist shy away from. The melodies sound almost ghostly sending a shiver down your spine and arms. Accompanied by her silky, calming and relaxing vocals make the perfect combination for an emotional song. Each song tells a story of vulnerability and pain, which i find comforting. Billie sings about the struggles she faces in her life not only as the global superstar Billie Eilish, but as the normal human girl she is. Making it easy to connect with her music and soul through her albums on a personal level. Her music is a reminder that we are never alone in what we face in our day to day lives. Although we live in separate bodies with our own ideologies and beliefs. We all struggle at some point in our lives. Coming together and being able to bond in a community like the one that Billie Eilish has built with people who struggle through the same problems has been a great experience. Not only is her work amazing audibly but is also a testament that no human is ever alone no matter what they are going through. When I first joined her fandom a couple years back Billie was still posting her music on sound cloud and wasn’t yet known globally. Now Billie is known and has fans in many countries across the world that love and support her. Seeing her build her career right before my eyes was amazing. She took on whatever obstacles she faced and made sure she would get through them. If i could give Billie a nickname it would be Super Woman because she is an incredibly strong woman who persevered through everything and anything to reach her goals! Hopefully one day I am able to witness her sing live in concert and fall in love with her music all over again.
