    Karl Baehr Entrepreneurs Scholarship
My business is jnpbusinessacademy. One class offered in my academy is for new business owners to walk them through step by step becoming a business owner and ensuring that their business is structured correct. Having a business structured correctly is very important for business owners who will want to build business credit. The other class offered in my academy is a marketing class for established business owners teaching them how to market their business and convert traffic to sales. I am passionate about it because there are so many great businesses that are legally built incorrectly and subjected to lawsuits etc and for established business owners they have a product but do not know how to reach their targeted market. There is enough business to go around for everyone and hopefully my classes are able to turn their businesses around.
Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
Growing up mental health was a topic that was not discussed in my house hold, my community and even within my generation. If you were to say you had a mental health illness you were labeled as crazy. Thanks to mental health awareness those are no longer stigmas related to mental health issues. As a young child I witnessed domestic violence which caused me to become depressed, which as a child I didn’t know there was a diagnosis to what I was feeling. I would hate going home from school because I knew it could be another day I witnessed my mother being abused. I had anxiety going to sleep in fear that I would wake up to her screaming for mercy. When I became a mother I experienced another type of depression, postpartum depression. I found myself constantly crying for no apparent reason, feeling overwhelmed and always on edge. I was not able to enjoy my newborn because I was always on the verge of a breakdown. These personal experiences has taught me how to become a better person and a confidant for my family, friends and peers. I am able to identify when someone is struggling with something or may need a listening ear and I am able to relate to them and also speak from experience when giving advice. When interacting with others in the world my experience with mental health has taught me to always be kind because you may never know what someone is going through, your words or act of kindness can be the different in their day. My mental health experiences has shaped my goals by allowing me to know that regardless of what I am going through I am still strong and can do anything I put my mind to. Working full time, being a wife and mother all while obtaining my degree is an perfect example of that.
