Although I am still at the beginning of my journey with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, I have developed a strong interest in understanding how these technologies are transforming industries around the world. I have spent time exploring AI tools to help with research, learning new concepts, brainstorming ideas, and improving my problem-solving skills. Using these tools has shown me how AI can increase efficiency, support better decision-making, and make advanced technology more accessible to people from all backgrounds. My greatest interest is in combining AI with aviation and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), commonly known as drones. As drone technology continues to advance, AI is becoming essential for improving autonomous flight, obstacle detection, route planning, computer vision, and real-time decision-making. I am fascinated by the ways intelligent drones can be used to assist in search and rescue operations, disaster response, infrastructure inspections, environmental monitoring, and precision agriculture. Knowing that AI can help drones complete dangerous or time-sensitive tasks more safely motivates me to pursue this field. While I have not yet created my own AI application or machine learning model, I am eager to gain hands-on experience throughout my college education. I plan to learn programming languages such as Python and study machine learning, computer vision, and data analysis. I also hope to participate in research opportunities, student organizations, and personal projects that allow me to apply AI to real-world aviation challenges. My goal is to build practical skills that will prepare me to design intelligent systems capable of solving meaningful problems. Looking ahead, I want to contribute to the future of AI-powered drone technology by developing systems that improve safety, efficiency, and accessibility. Whether assisting first responders during natural disasters, helping inspectors evaluate critical infrastructure, or supporting environmental conservation efforts, I believe AI has the potential to make a lasting positive impact on society. I also hope to encourage other students to explore careers in AI, aviation, and STEM by sharing my experiences and mentoring those who are just beginning their journey. For me, artificial intelligence is more than an emerging technology—it is an opportunity to create solutions that improve lives. By combining my passion for aviation with a strong foundation in AI and machine learning, I hope to contribute to innovations that make communities safer, strengthen the aviation industry, and inspire future generations to use technology responsibly and ethically. I am excited to continue learning, developing my technical skills, and becoming part of the next generation of innovators shaping the future of intelligent aviation.

Moving from Jamaica to the United States was one of the most significant experiences of my life. Leaving behind everything familiar forced me to adapt to a new culture, overcome challenges, and develop resilience at a young age. That transition taught me that my circumstances do not define my future—my determination and willingness to work hard do. Those experiences shaped my sense of purpose by inspiring me to pursue a career that combines service, leadership, and excellence. I will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to study aviation because my dream is to become a United States Navy pilot. I want to challenge myself in one of the most demanding professions while serving something greater than myself. The discipline, integrity, and teamwork required of Naval Aviators reflect the values I strive to live by every day. My purpose is also rooted in serving others. Throughout high school, I completed more than 150 hours of community service, which showed me how meaningful even small acts of kindness can be. Volunteering taught me that leadership is about helping others, taking initiative, and making a positive impact wherever you are. Looking ahead, I want my life to be defined by service—serving my country as a Navy pilot, supporting my community through volunteer work and mentorship, and inspiring others to believe that their background does not limit their future. My personal experiences have given me a clear purpose: to lead with integrity, serve with humility, and use every opportunity to make a difference.

Leaving Jamaica to begin a new life in the United States taught me that opportunity comes with responsibility. My family made the difficult decision to move so we could build a better future, and that experience changed the way I look at education. I learned that success is not something that is handed to you—it is something you earn through hard work, perseverance, and a willingness to keep moving forward despite challenges. Those lessons continue to motivate me every day as I prepare to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and pursue a career in aviation. My long-term goal is to become a United States Navy pilot. I have always been fascinated by aviation because it combines advanced technology, teamwork, discipline, and the opportunity to serve something greater than yourself. Becoming a Naval Aviator is not simply about flying aircraft; it is about accepting responsibility, making sound decisions under pressure, and protecting others. I believe those values align with the person I strive to become. Attending Embry-Riddle will provide me with the education, technical knowledge, and leadership opportunities necessary to achieve that goal. The university’s aviation program will challenge me academically while preparing me for the demands of military aviation. I also plan to participate in NROTC, where I can further develop the leadership, discipline, and character expected of future Navy officers. Higher education will give me more than a degree—it will provide the foundation for a lifetime of service and professional excellence. Giving back has already become an important part of my life. During high school, I completed more than 150 hours of community service, volunteering my time to help others and support my community. Those experiences taught me that leadership is not measured by titles or recognition but by the willingness to serve. Whether I was volunteering at community events or helping wherever I was needed, I learned that even small acts of kindness can leave a lasting impact. After college, I plan to continue serving both my country and my community. As a Navy officer, I hope to lead with integrity, humility, and professionalism while representing the values of service before self. Beyond my military career, I want to mentor young people who are interested in aviation, especially students who may not believe their dreams are within reach. Coming from Jamaica and adapting to life in a new country showed me that obstacles do not define a person’s future. I want to encourage others to believe in themselves and pursue opportunities through education, determination, and hard work. Receiving this scholarship would allow me to focus more on my education and leadership development while reducing the financial burden of earning my degree. More importantly, it would represent an investment in someone who is committed to using higher education to create meaningful change. My goal is not only to succeed personally but also to use my knowledge, experiences, and leadership to serve others throughout my life. Higher education is the bridge between where I am today and the future I envision. It will equip me with the skills to become a Naval Aviator, strengthen my ability to lead, and expand the opportunities I have to make a positive impact. My journey from Jamaica to the United States has taught me resilience, gratitude, and determination. Those qualities will continue to guide me as I pursue my education, serve my country, and dedicate my life to helping others.

Every journey has a turning point, and mine began when I left Jamaica in search of greater opportunities. Leaving behind my home, friends, and everything familiar was one of the biggest changes I have ever experienced. Moving to the United States challenged me to adapt to a new culture, meet new people, and step outside my comfort zone. Although it was difficult at times, the experience made me more resilient and taught me that growth comes from embracing change rather than running from it. As I adjusted to my new environment, I realized that education would be the key to building the future I wanted. Instead of letting obstacles define me, I used them as motivation to work harder and stay focused on my goals. Every challenge strengthened my determination to succeed and reminded me that persistence is one of the most valuable qualities a person can have. My dream is to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and pursue a degree in aviation. Aviation has always inspired me because it combines innovation, discipline, and responsibility. I want to build a career in an industry that keeps people connected while challenging me to continue learning every day. I know that reaching this goal will require dedication and sacrifice, but I am prepared to put in the work because I believe the rewards will last a lifetime. Service has also played an important role in shaping who I am. Throughout high school, I completed more than 150 hours of community service, volunteering my time to support others and give back to my community. These experiences taught me leadership, compassion, and the importance of helping people without expecting anything in return. They showed me that true success is measured not only by personal achievements but also by the positive impact we have on those around us. I hope to continue serving my community throughout college and in my future career. In addition to preparing for college, I have balanced work and other responsibilities while staying committed to my education. Managing multiple responsibilities has strengthened my time management skills, work ethic, and ability to remain focused under pressure. These experiences have shown me that success is earned through consistency, discipline, and perseverance rather than talent alone. Receiving this scholarship would help ease the financial burden of pursuing my education and allow me to devote more of my time and energy to my studies and professional development. More importantly, it would represent an investment in someone who is determined to make the most of every opportunity. Looking back, leaving Jamaica was more than just moving to another country—it was the turning point that shaped the person I am today. It taught me resilience, gratitude, and the value of hard work. Those lessons continue to guide me as I pursue my education, serve my community, and work toward a career in aviation. I am excited for the future and committed to using every opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
