I am a senior pursuing a BA in Psychology with a minor in Communications. I am grateful and fortunate to be a student at UNM.
As someone who has seen the darkest depths of mental illness, I am determined to help others who have also seen these depths, who need a guiding hand, an open heart, or someone to lean on.
Learning and working towards my goals, with a disability, has been a challenge. Though, it's a challenge worth accepting. With determination, humility and a whole lot of patience, I have achieved a 4.0 GPA and a place on the Dean's List for two consecutive semesters.
As an Applied Behavior Analysis Therapist I will be dedicated to helping others realize and exceed their potential. I believe in living each day with purpose, passion, and compassion, and I'm committed to nurturing authentic and fulfilling lives in those around me.

Four years ago I had to make a choice. Either I would end my life or move back home. You see, for years I went to bed and wished I would never wake up again. I loathed every single breath I took. I would daydream about the last one I would have to take. Living felt like torture because I couldn't find a way to live a life worth living but I was too afraid to end it. Most of all, I couldn't bring myself to end it because I knew the suffering it would cause those who love me. So, I chose to move from where I was living, in Idaho, and seek the help of my family here in New Mexico.
My mother took me in and supported me while I found a way to live a life worth living. It took several years of hard work and determination but I have finally found my way, found my purpose, and now I am ready to help others do the same. My journey from the deepest depths of despair and depression to the highest peak of success and fulfillment has influenced every aspect of my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations.
I believe that every single person on this planet is special, is worthy of compassion, and capable of more than they can imagine. Whether their goal is to get out of bed and brush their teeth or to get a college degree, I believe they can accomplish what they set out to. I believe this because I have done this. There was a time when I couldn't have imagined more than getting myself out of bed and brushing my teeth. Now, I'm an accomplished student on my way to graduate school. I believe in others because I believe in myself. But we can't do it alone. We need one another, we need meaningful connections, support systems, and for others to encourage us all the way to the finish line. I hope to be the ultimate cheer leader for those who need someone to believe in them.
In fact, I hope to build my career with this encouragement and support as its foundation. As an applied behavioral analysis therapist I will equip neurodivergent individuals with the tools they need to live fulfilling lives and achieve goals that may seem impossible or hopeless. When it seems like the odds are stacked against you I will be there to show that you can succeed despite the odds, no matter the difficulty, and one day perhaps you'll do the same for others.
