    Cat Zingano Overcoming Loss Scholarship
When my great-grandfather died it wasn't easy. It made me realize that grief is love unable to be expressed. When you can't express it, you learn to become emotionally numb. My great-grandfather taught me to turn grief into a purpose. Instead of letting sadness consume me, I needed to find myself. He prepared me for the worst at a young age, Telling me that he wasn't always gonna be here. My loss made me realize that death comes unexpectedly. It helped me find my passion. Instead of falling into a hole of denial, rage, and depression. I found what I'm most passionate about just by moving forward and accepting my loss. I'm most passionate about animals, I help and foster animals in my free time. Hoping one day I might be a veterinarian. I've also learned that I'm open to spontaneous events. Taking risks and trying out new things. Let's just say I'm a person with many talents due to my spontaneous actions. Animals helped me more than anything. It helped me to focus in school to keep my grades up, so I could get into the best schools for animal science or veterinary (pre-med). Every day I look up to the sky and thank him. I thank him because even in death he's teaching me to strive to become the veterinarian I wanna be.
