Softball put me on a journey that would teach me the meaning of discipline, dedication, and resilience. Today, as a student-athlete at Cypress College, maintaining a 4.0 GPA while playing collegiate-level softball and working part-time, I am proud of how far I’ve come. My aspiration is to become a high school educator. I have always admired the selflessness and strength of my mother, who raised me on her own and served as my first and most influential teacher. Watching her persevere through challenges while providing unwavering support instilled in me the importance of education and hard work. Specifically, I want to teach Spanish at the high school level. I believe language is one of the most powerful tools we have to bridge divides, celebrate identity, and foster empathy. My mother’s sacrifices—working tirelessly to ensure I could pursue every opportunity—drive me to push forward, to succeed, and to honor the love and effort she has poured into me. My mother is my biggest and only supporter emotionally, financially, and physically. Everything I pursue is, in part, for her: to show her that the path she carved for me has not been taken for granted. I believe I would be a strong candidate for scholarship support not only because of my academic achievements but also because of my unwavering drive. With your support, I will continue to pursue my goals with the same determination and gratitude that have brought me to this point—and carry those values forward into the classrooms and futures I hope to shape.
