Bio

My name is Dania Elsheikh and I am a 2023 New York University graduate and current Quantitative Analyst. I'm currently working toward paying off my student loans, with the goal of pursuing a master's in Public Administration or Social Work. My passion lies in community organizing and program management. After working as a developer for two years, I realized my true enthusiasm lies in social work. Since the war broke out in my home country of Sudan, I’ve spent much of my time outside of work organizing and hosting fundraising events for relief efforts. My hope is to one day work in a religious or community center, creating spaces that support both global humanitarian causes and the local community. Much of my extended family has been displaced—either internally within Sudan or across Africa and the Middle East. As one of the only family members in the U.S., my older sister and I have taken on the responsibility of financially supporting them, as they have lost their homes and jobs. Though it’s a sacrifice, I feel grateful to use my position and privileges in the US to provide that support. Receiving scholarships would ease the burden of my student loans, allowing me to invest more in my education and contribute more meaningfully to my family’s well-being and future. In my free time, I enjoy reading, leading my book club, baking, practicing Arabic, and training for 5Ks.
