Growing up, I watched my mother pour everything she had into a career she truly loved. As a single mother raising two children, she chose to become a teacher not because it was the highest-paying profession, but because it gave her purpose and fulfillment. She showed me what it means to be passionate about your work and to care deeply about others. At the same time, I also witnessed the challenges that came with that choice, as financial struggles became a constant part of our lives. That experience shaped how I view both success and responsibility, and it has strongly influenced my future goals.
My name is Dejah Morgan, and I am a motivated student with a passion for psychology and helping others. Watching my mother dedicate herself to her students inspired me to pursue a career in social services, where I can also make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. However, her journey also taught me an equally important lesson about balance. While passion is important, financial stability plays a critical role in creating security and opportunity, not only for yourself but for your family as well.
In my future career, I plan to make a positive impact by supporting individuals who are facing personal and emotional challenges, particularly young people who may feel unheard or unsupported. I want to create safe environments where people feel comfortable expressing themselves and seeking guidance. By using my skills in communication and empathy, I hope to help others build confidence, overcome obstacles, and develop a sense of stability in their lives.
At the same time, I am determined to approach my career with both passion and careful planning. I aspire to build a life where I can do work that fulfills me while also making responsible financial decisions early on. I want to be able to support myself and my family in ways that reduce stress and create more opportunities for growth. My goal is to break the cycle of financial struggle while still holding on to the values of compassion and service that my mother instilled in me.
By combining my passion for helping others with a commitment to financial responsibility, I believe I can create a lasting impact in my community. I want to not only support individuals through difficult times, but also serve as an example that it is possible to pursue meaningful work while building a stable and secure future.

WinnerThe first time I truly understood the power of simply being there for someone was when a teammate came to me during a difficult moment in her life. She was not looking for advice or solutions. She just needed someone to listen. As a basketball team captain, I have learned that leadership goes far beyond performance on the court; it requires empathy, patience, and the ability to support others through both their successes and their struggles. In that moment, I realized how impactful it can be to make someone feel heard and understood. That experience played a major role in shaping my desire to pursue a career in social services.
My name is Dejah Morgan, and I am a dedicated and compassionate student with a strong interest in psychology and helping others navigate challenges in their lives. Through my role as a team captain, I have developed important skills such as communication, responsibility, and leadership. More importantly, I have learned how to connect with people on a deeper level. I have seen how much of a difference it makes when someone feels supported, especially during times of stress or uncertainty. These experiences have inspired me to pursue a path where I can continue to uplift and guide others in meaningful ways.
In my future career in social services, I plan to make a positive impact by working directly with individuals who may feel overlooked, misunderstood, or unsupported. I am especially passionate about helping young people who are navigating personal or emotional challenges, as I understand how important it is to have someone who listens without judgment. I hope to create safe and welcoming spaces where individuals feel comfortable expressing themselves and seeking guidance. By building trust and strong relationships, I want to help others develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of direction in their lives.
In addition to providing direct support, I also hope to advocate for greater awareness surrounding mental health and access to social services within my community. Many individuals struggle in silence due to stigma or lack of resources, and I want to be part of the change that encourages open conversations and provides real support. Whether through one on one interactions or broader community efforts, I am committed to making a lasting impact. By combining my passion for psychology with my dedication to helping others, I hope to improve individual lives and contribute to building a stronger, more supportive community for everyone.
