Welding didn't grab my attention until recently which is outside of comfort zone but I got recommended to do since I am a very hands on person. I looked into welding and the aspects of it , I loved it! I didn't think it would grab my attention and would get me excited about trying something new that I have no idea about. College is something that is considered good in my family and rare because nobody has the funds or motivation to do so. I always was between wanting to go or not going and just working my life away at a job I didn’t like. The reason why I didn’t want to go is because I wasn’t born in the USA and do not have citizenship which is a barrier because I can’t gain financial help or receive a scholarship. It’s been a process trying to gain citizenship of any sort but it’s been difficult and funds are not available to pay a lawyer who charges a lot. My father is an immigrant and it has been challenging to obtain documents that are required to begin a business.I have also been influenced in my academic and personal endeavors by encouraging my dad to start his flooring company. The skills CGLA and CSM helped me gain will help open up my dad’s flooring company. I will help finance the company, create the logo, website, and other things needed for the company to run smoothly. I am currently applying for DACA which is a immigration policy that allows some individuals brought to the country as children to receive a renewable two-year period that allows them to be eligible for employment without being deported. When I gain DACA, I will help my dad start his flooring company and have it under my name which will make the process of getting a permit for the company easier. Gaining DACA will give my dad the opportunity to start his company and other things he wants to gain through me which is a big accomplishment I wish to obtain for my parents. It’s been a constant struggle trying to find ways for me to go to college and figuring out what to do in college but I have set my mind to attend college at Chatt State for the TCAT Welding program. I am more than excited to attend college because I always heard good things about others' experiences and I want to have a career that I will want to do without getting bored or even tired of it. I want my welding career to be fun and lead me into a better position but I have to work hard to earn scholarships. I want to make a difference in my family and set a new difference , I want others in my family to follow my footsteps and go farther. I believe my legal status will not stop me from attending college and I will excel through my education. I am currently applying to DACA and it's been a rigorous process but the results will help me gain financial help and get a stable job without worrying about deportation. My goal to achieve is to start a female minority Welding program and extend into something bigger that will help the girls in my area have affordable Welding classes to those who are interested.

As soon as I started high school, the panic of scholarships and where to go after high school enhanced my interest in discovering new experiences. I am a Senior at Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy which is an all girls school catered to 6th-12th young ladies.I have been attending CGLA since my 6th grade year. This school was the best choice for me because it gave me more college opportunities and a better education. My experience at CGLA shaped me into the young lady that I am today and will continue to follow me through my adult life. Chattanooga Sports Ministries(CSM) played a big role in encouraging me to further my education and allowed me to explore colleges to attend. CSM is a non-profit organization that impacts the lives of youth around the Chattanooga area through faith and athletics. This organization focuses on teaching the youth about the Bible while playing sports and giving the teens who are assistant coaches an opportunity to explore colleges and prepare for the real world while also incorporating the bible as well. I started off as a player in the program when I was 12 until now at the age of 18. It gave me a better view on branching out to people with different backgrounds. This program gave me the encouragement to step out of my comfort zone and showed me important life skills through playing soccer and also by reading the bible. When I was 15, I decided to become an assistant coach for the ministry. Becoming an assistant coach taught me professional and life skills that I will use in my future endeavors. My father is an immigrant and it has been challenging to obtain documents that are required to begin a business.I have also been influenced in my academic and personal endeavors by encouraging my dad to start his flooring company.
