Growing up I had no idea what I wanted to be. A doctor? A ballet dancer? A mermaid? Nothing seemed right to me and I was scared that I would never figure out what I wanted to do. Luckily those fears vanished when I started high school. While I was there I knew that my dream profession had to be a teacher. Teachers can change lives and that’s exactly what I want to do. I want to make a difference and help cultivate the younger generation. My philosophy in life is to get a job you love that makes alittle bit than to get a job you hate and make a lot of money. At the end of the day it isnt about the money but your own happiness and that’s the main reason why I want to be a teacher. In my senior year, I decided to sign up for the teacher cadet class because I wanted to learn more about teaching. While in this class I was able to make my own lesson plans and teach the class and that was very eye-opening to me. I absolutely enjoyed it. While being in the class I also interned at the local elementary schools and that's when I knew I was called to teach early elementary. I loved being able to help the kids learn how to write, spell, and read. I was able to give kids one on one assessments and help them improve where they were struggling. I even got to make my own lesson to teach to the kids. Sure it’s not all cupcakes and rainbows, you have kids that are going to be irritating but it's how you deal with the situation that could possibly change your life or a kid's life. I want to teach because I know with all my heart that's where I belong and I know that I can make a difference some how some way. I am so excited for all the challenges ahead that will make me a better teacher and person. In order to make this dream a reality I really am in need of financial assistance. I am passionate about what I want to do and with the help of your school I can change lives for the better. I believe I would be a great candidate for this scholarship because I am very passionate about what I want to major in and I know for a fact teaching is what I want to do. I have also worked hard my whole high school career. while having a job outside of school I also participate in several clubs and this proves that I’m a hard-working well-rounded student. I have also maintained my grades and I currently have a 4.2 GPA. With this scholarship, I will continue to work hard and accomplish my goals and I will continue to make Loris High School proud and show the very best of Loris.

Scholarship for Women Golfers
Growing up I was quite an active kid, I was always on the go which was not a good thing for my mom. I always wanted to play outside and run around and that's when I discovered my love of sports. As a kid, I played soccer for years and I also took up dance but when I started high school I decided to take a break from sports a focus on my grades. In my junior year, my mom told me I had to pick a sport so I decided that I would try golf as my dad loved it. Golf is a lot harder than one might think, it takes a lot of time and technique to play which can be really frustrating at times.
Golf has taught me so much in the last two years. I learned that you really have to be patient when you play golf. You can’t go too fast or too slow and you have to wait on others and that's just like in life. You can’t rush the good things in life and that is exactly what golf taught me, you have to take everything one step at a time. During tournaments, I usually played with 2 or 3 different girls so I learned how to communicate with brand new people. I have a lot of social anxiety so playing golf and always meeting new people has really helped me come out of my shell and I learned so much from every person I played with, I couldn’t have done it without golf. The last thing I learned about form golf is dedication. When you go out to the driving range for the first time and can’t hit a single ball you can’t just give up you have to work on it. It might take some time but when you keep working on something you will get better. In life, if you want to be good at something you have to dedicate the time and effort to accomplish your goals. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
As a Female golfer, a lot of people don't take me seriously when I tell them I play the sport. People think it's just a guy sport and that women who play this sport are overlooked. I think that as a female golfer, I can play just as hard as any man can and drive farther than they ever could. People take one look at me and say "she's probably can't hit very far" which isn't the case at all. I'm always out of the golf course showing these people what I'm made of.
Golf has taught me so many life lessons and am very lucky that I was able to obtain this experience. Golf is actually a very hard sport and there is so much that factors into a swing I definitely feel it has made me more attentive to other things in my life. I learned a lot from the sport but I also learned a lot from my teammates and my coach. They helped me along the way and I am very grateful for that and I feel that now I am a well-rounded person. Golf has helped me become who I am today.

Future Is Female Inc. Scholarship
In my mind feminism means women supporting women, and women run the world. Most women are stereotyped as "weak" and "fragile" but we all know that is not true, we can do anything that a man can do maybe even better. I think the world is scared of what a woman can really do when she sets her mind to something, we will show them what we really are and that is strong.
Feminism is so important to the society we live in. As women, we must stand up for our rights and what we believe in even when others think it is impossible. We must stand our ground and prove ourselves to the world we live in. Women all over the world have made historical movements for women's rights such as Amelia Earheart who was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, Malala Yousafzai who fought for women in Pakistan to receive an education, Elizabeth Cady Straton who was an author, lecturer, and chief philosopher of the women's rights and suffrage movements, and so many others who paved the way for women today. While I admire every one of those women, the most inspirational person to me is my mom. My mom is the definition of a hard-working woman, when she was little she would go to school and work in the tobacco fields for hours every day. When she got older she always had at least three jobs while she was at school so she could help her parents pay the bills. Eventually, my mom became the owner of our family mail business and I was so proud of her. She accomplished so much even when it didn't seem possible. My mother is the definition of a strong woman, I love her so much and she inspires me every day.
Now that I'm getting older I finally realize what being a woman is all about. It isn't about trying to make a man happy and living in a man's world, It's about overcoming obstacles and making a world for yourself. I'm contributing by showing the world what a smart woman looks like. I strive hard to get the best grades I can and I fight for leadership positions to show that I can do it too. I fight to prove all the haters wrong because I can do whatever I want to when I set my mind to it. I'm a woman and I'm very proud to be one.
Cat Zingano Overcoming Loss Scholarship
In this world we only have one life, one life to do everything we can. For some, they live a long and plentiful life but for others, theirs comes to an end before it can even begin. It's hard to understand why people must go but it can only make you a stronger person in your life. When I was nine I lost my first grandparent, my meme, I was too young to fully understand what was happening and I remember asking my mom when she was coming back. My meme would always put me in pageants when I was little but I had the worst stage fright you could imagine and after she died for a while I didn't do any until I got into middle school. There was a local pageant that my meme loved that was coming up and my mom suggested that I do it. I applied to that pageant and dedicated it to my meme. The whole time, while I was competing the only thing I could think about, was her and I knew that I had to win for her. When the time came for the crowning I held my breath and I won my title, I sat on that stage and cried because I knew how proud she would have been. Now that I'm a senior in high school I've had the opportunity to do so many events because of pageants and it's all thanks to her. Another death that really affected what life meant to me was my grandpa. I was 14 at the time and my grandpa had been living with us for a few years because he had some health issues. One morning everything seemed pretty normal until my grandpa wasn't acting right and then one thing led to another and my parents had to call an ambulance. I watched the EMTs wheel him out to the ambulance and I just remember him sitting there lifeless. It wasn't too long before we got the call that he didn't make it and I never got to say goodbye to him. It's crazy how everything can be fine one minute and the next completely different, we should never take what we have for granted. After he passed I learned that I need to stop rushing life and actually live in it for a while. Family means everything to me and death certainly put that into perspective. Now that they're gone I fight to work hard and put my family first. I fight for the things I love even though it seems unreachable, I fight to make my passed ones proud, even though they're not here physically they are here mentally in my heart as well as all the memories I have of them. Most importantly I fight for myself, I want to live life to the fullest with all the highs and all the lows. That is what I fight for.
