“Most people define financial freedom as having enough to retire. They work hard all their lives, putting money in a 401(k), and they hope they can make their proverbial million dollars.” In school, we were taught that financial freedom is having enough money in our bank accounts, or being able to afford expensive materialistic items. True Financial freedom is not how much money you have, it is the wealth of your mindset. If you have money and do not have a money mindset or knowledge about money then you are broke. According to Robert T. Kiyosaki (Rich Dad, Poor Dad), “I am concerned that too many people are focused too much on money and not on their greatest wealth, which is their education. If people are prepared to be flexible, keep an open mind and learn, they will grow richer and richer through the changes. If they think money will solve the problems, I am afraid those people will have a rough ride. Intelligence solves problems and produces money. Money without financial intelligence is money soon gone.” Entrepreneurship is a genius way to build wealth and obtain financial freedom. No one has been a millionaire with a paycheck. My business is called OPM Scholars. It focuses on assisting International students, minorities, and first-generation students with financial assistance tips, application reviews, opportunities, and career employment recommendations. I witnessed firsthand the hardship that international students studying abroad have to undergo because of the lack of information that they may not be exposed to, minutiae mentorship to be successful in their endeavors. Minorities and first-generation students find it difficult to finish their education because of the lack of support from family members who may not have attended college which makes the students the first in their family to further their education. I utilize the internet in my business by being active on social media platforms to increase exposure to my craft. Today’s fast fame on Instagram and Tik Tok has proven that the Internet is the best way to reach a diverse amount of people the weakest way. The internet is useful for my business in sharing and conveying information as I have created a website where my customers can interact with my information and resources, I can host zoom meetings, and network with leading professionals. I have also found the internet to be fascinating because of the opportunities that are available to expand my idea and get support. Getting involved in a mastermind group of similar individuals in the same field of work has helped in expanding my knowledge, and reducing my business mistakes. Pitch competitions and investor meetings discovered on the internet such as platforms like Eventbrite and meetup.com helps entrepreneurs like myself to stay motivated, and gain capital to increase service to the community. Competitors are useful for any business because life is not one size fits all. I manage competition by always staying current in my field of business through online classes offered in applications like LinkedIn Learning, Teachable, and Gumroad. Reading books either physical books or on audio platforms like Audible has assisted in expanding my horizon on the needs of society, and different ways to reduce business complexities. I also focus on delegation in terms of patronizing freelancers in different fields such as IT, or branding & marketing to assist my business. Delegation helps reduce complexities in business because I can have more time to focus on what I am good at and to grow faster in my business.
