    Doña Lupita Immigrant Scholarship
My single mother has instilled many important values in me that have shaped the person I am today. Growing up, my parent faced many challenges as a result of her immigrating to this country, but they never let those challenges hold them back. Instead, they taught me the importance of hard work, perseverance, and determination. One of the most important values that my parent instilled in me is the value of education. My parent always emphasized the importance of getting a good education and working hard to achieve my goals. They encouraged me to study hard, read books, and learn as much as I could about the world around me. They believed that education was the key to success, and they worked hard to provide me with the resources and support I needed to succeed academically. Another value that my parent instilled in me is the value of family. Despite the challenges we faced as a family, my parent always made sure that we stuck together and supported each other. She taught me the importance of loyalty, love, and respect for family members, and they modeled those values in their own behavior. She showed me that family is the most important thing in life, and that we should always be there for each other no matter what. My parent also instilled in me the value of hard work and perseverance. She worked long hours at multiple jobs to provide for our family, and they never gave up in the face of adversity. She taught me that success requires hard work and determination, and that we should never give up on our dreams. She showed me that anything is possible if we are willing to work hard and persevere through the challenges. Finally, my parent instilled in me the value of kindness and compassion. She taught me to treat others with respect and dignity, and to always be there for those who are in need. She showed me that even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference in someone's life, and that we should always strive to make the world a better place. In conclusion, my single immigrant parent has instilled many important values in me that have shaped the person I am today. She taught me the importance of education, family, hard work, perseverance, and kindness. These values have guided me throughout my life, and they continue to inspire me to be the best person I can be. I am grateful for the lessons my mother has taught me, and I will always strive to live up to the standards she has set for me.

The song "Wildest Dreams" by Taylor Swift is my favorite song for many reasons. The first reason why I love this song is that it has a beautiful melody. The melody is catchy and memorable, and it has a dreamy and romantic quality that draws me in every time I listen to it. The chorus is particularly captivating, with its soaring vocals and memorable lyrics that stay in my head long after the song is over. The melody is the perfect accompaniment to the lyrics, creating a powerful and emotional listening experience. Another reason why I love "Wildest Dreams" is because of the emotions it evokes. The song is about a passionate and intense love affair that is doomed to fail. The lyrics are full of longing and regret, and as a listener, I can feel the pain and heartbreak that the singer is experiencing. The song taps into a deep well of human emotion that is universal and relatable. The emotions that the song evokes are so powerful that I can't help but feel them every time I listen to it. The production of "Wildest Dreams" is also a major reason why I love this song. The instrumentation is lush and atmospheric, with a haunting piano melody and soaring strings that create a sense of grandeur and drama. The production perfectly complements the lyrics and vocals, creating a powerful and emotional listening experience. The production is so beautiful that I can't help but be swept away by the music. Finally, I love "Wildest Dreams" because of the message it conveys. The song is about a love affair that is passionate and intense, but ultimately doomed to fail. The song is a reminder that even though love can be painful and difficult, it is still worth pursuing and cherishing. The message of the song is so powerful that it has become a source of inspiration and comfort for me. In conclusion, "Wildest Dreams" is my favorite song because of its beautiful melody, emotional lyrics, powerful production, and uplifting message. Si Se Puede Scholarship Award
Hasta La Raíz Part of my childhood consisted of living in Mexico. While I spent time there, I visited Guanajuato City at least once every few weeks. I would go about my life, and take for granted the world that surrounded me. Perhaps from how young I was or how I had never been separated from the place I called home. Shortly after my seventh birthday, my family decided to move to the United States not only to have a better life but to also give some company to my grandpa who had been living in the states for quite a while. After nine years of not seeing Guanajuato City, I was finally able to travel last summer and experience the lovely place where my ancestors once lived. In the past when my family and I had visited, we never truly toured the city. When we used to visit it was more so to run errands or necessities needed around the house. After all this time I was able to truly take in the full beauty of the place I once lived. Walking down the majestic Spanish-styled streets, which were full of bright and colorful houses was truly a breathtaking experience. The magnificent architecture from the churches, all the way down to the local university was just remarkable. Little did I know this would be the spark that lit the fire inside of me. Through this getaway, I was able to discover a trade I was truly passionate about. Looking at the various buildings that had existed for generations, frankly encouraged me to become an architect at some point in my life. Buildings as marvelous as the ones I had seen there are what truly make Guanajuato City one of a kind. The joyful atmosphere also contributes to its beauty, at the turn of every corner you can encounter a mariachi band playing their traditional ranchera-themed songs. Leaving, the only place I had known to be my home I knew I had to carry this inspiration back to America. Everything I wanted to be in the future became so clear back in Guanajuato City. I knew I needed to be working constantly, while also managing to do the advanced placement classes at my school in a city thousands of miles away from the place where I once lived. I recognized it was vital to do what I needed to to be successful because it's a necessity to obtain the comfortable lifestyle I aspire to not only for myself but for my future and current family as well. Although living in the United States has provided me with numerous opportunities, looking back and reminiscing about the lovely Guanajuato City, made me realize that everything I considered a priority was just an unnecessary luxury to those who truly found happiness in life. I had not realized the true enchantment of my homeland. I never once realized the immense value of my hometown. Even though that small city did not contain all the modern aspects of society, it did hold a vast amount of tradition and a lovely culture to reflect on and learn from. This culture essentially shapes me into who I am as an individual and will guide me into one day helping my Hispanic community better themselves and fulfill their dreams. Being a Mexican-American individual who holds traditions and values dear to her heart is a part of who I am and will go with me to wherever life may take me and will assist me with what destiny has in store for me.
