Hi, my name is Dawn! I am a senior at Walt Whitman High School and an aspiring neuroscientist, passionate about research and community service with a plan to major in neuroscience and minor in sociology in college.
I am creative, collaborative, and driven--exemplified by 14 years of classical ballet training. I have performed in over 25 different shows for audiences over 500, as well as traveled across the country for various dance intensive programs upon admission by audition where I have learned from esteemed professional dancers.
I also have community service experience in leading a dance class for children with disabilities as well as with the Medical Reserve Corps in distributing COVID-19 tests and vaccines. Building off of this, I also volunteered with the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children in the summer of 2019 as a global health intern in the rural Philippines. My responsibilities included taking basic health functions and helping local nurses with their duties.
To continue to further my scientific interest, I also took two summer college-credit courses at American University: Neuroscience and Global Public Health.
