I am a 60‑year‑old woman rebuilding my life with purpose, resilience, and a deep commitment to serving my community. After overcoming a life‑altering accident and completing my bachelor’s degree with a 3.81 GPA while working two jobs, I am now beginning my Master’s degree in clinical psychology. My recovery taught me empathy, dignity, and the importance of meeting people exactly where they are—values that guide every part of my work in mental health. I currently support unhoused individuals in California, providing trauma‑informed care, crisis support, and resource navigation. My lived experience allows me to connect with people who feel unseen or overwhelmed, and my work is grounded in cultural humility, emotional intelligence, and a strong belief in social justice. As the mother of a gay son, I have witnessed the challenges LGBTQ+ individuals face, and I am committed to creating safe, affirming spaces where people can heal without judgment. Advocacy is central to who I am, and I strive to uplift voices that are often ignored or misunderstood. My goal as a future clinician is to integrate trauma‑informed practice, community advocacy, and inclusive mental health care to support vulnerable populations and promote systemic change. I believe it is never too late to pursue meaningful work, and my path reflects perseverance, purpose, and a lifelong dedication to helping others rebuild their lives with hope and confidence.
