With the occurrence of Covid-19, many people were locked in their homes without the opportunity to venture out and network. People are working from home in isolation, separated from their company culture. Spaces to meet and collaborate are either closed or operating at a limited capacity. This fact is exacerbated for communities of color who hardly had access to collaborative spaces to begin with. These collaborative spaces often provide valuable work spaces for entrepreneurs. Places like We Work allowed highly ambitious business owners to network with other like-minded individuals. Aspiring Black entrepreneurs have fewer resources, in regards to human capital, to develop their brands. This is where RealStart 360 comes in. RealStart 360 is a digital co-working space that harnesses Virtual Reality technology to incubate underrepresented, aspiring entrepreneurs. In the face of global pandemics, natural disasters, or the inability to connect physically with entrepreneurs across the globe, RealStart 360 allows high-achieving individuals to connect in a co-working space. This virtual space will revolutionize how people communicate and connect. As a service, anyone can be anywhere and feel like they are still in the same space with others building community and culture. RealStart 360 has a mission to provide resources to aspiring entrepreneurs and help them successfully launch their businesses. This means exposing our cohort to human capital, social capital, and the means of securing financial capital. Buidling this connective network will hopefully allow more underrepresented founders the ability to launch businesses and gain venture funding. This is a non-profit program which aims to bring together high-achieving entrepreneurs and business leaders from around the world into a simulated, collaborative work environment. This service will help to incubate entrepreneurship in communities with low rates of business ownership rates without the need to be in a physical meeting space. This is different from most incubators and co-working spaces because: 1. It incorporates virtual reality technology and 2. The target consumer base is Black and Brown potential founders. As an incubator, we will also provide founders to provide mentorship and guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs. This will help to accelerate their journey and create a pipeline for access to funding and relationships. These mentors will be sourced through my own personal connections and the alumni of our partner universities who have become founders. With Black women becoming the fastest growing demographic of entrepreneurs, it is imperative that they be given the resources to thrive in the small business ecosystem. Currently, Black Americans only account for 2.2% of owners of employee businesses. This service will help to grow that number and thus create economic empowerment for a historically disenfranchised community. Through an initiative of this caliber, entrepreneurship in underrepresented communities will no longer be seen as an anomaly but rather the new norm. RealStart 360 will also revolutionize the way we communicate and collaborate. No longer will the barrier of distance be an impediment to being in the same space as a colleague. Zoom makes us kind of believe that we are all on a call working together, but this software will put us into the same virtual room where we can engage and interact with one another. The Avatars and meeting spaces will be customizable in order to add an individual flair. Business people across the globe can be in the same board room without ever having to board a flight. In a sense, people will be able to live inside of the internet and share experiences, opportunities, and schools of thought from wherever they choose to be.
