My name is David Parrish. I am a two-time Georgia state champion and have a 4.0 GPA. I am looking to pursue my goals and passion for computers at an esteemed college. I built my computer I have at home, and it is so fun tinkering with it. I wish to wrestle in college and be debt free.

I may not be the biggest or tallest, but I have the most passion. I was made fun of for my size and my height for the longest time because I did not grow like other people. While everyone around me was growing and standing out, I stayed the same height, so people always called me small. This did not stop me from pursuing my goals. I wanted to be the best and I still do, but I needed to find something I loved and could be the best at. This is when I found wrestling. I would not say I liked wrestling at first, but it was my dad who continued to convince me to wrestle the next year. I was 10 years old when I started wrestling, and I despised it because it was the hardest thing I had ever done, and never won. There was no glory in losing time after time, but I was told that it would get better and I would start winning. I kept with it and started to enjoy the grueling practices and the satisfaction of pushing through my limits and pursuing the goal. I placed fifth in Georgia State as a freshman and knew that I wanted to become the best and become a state champion. I worked hard over the offseason with that goal in mind: "I will be a state champion." My sophomore season started rough, and I began to think that the work I put in was not good enough, so I went back to my club, Compound, to have 2 practices a day. This is where things started to click.
I felt myself get better every day, and with all of the training I put in, I started eating better because I did not want the work to go to waste. Then the post-season came, and I lost in the sectional finals, and I thought it was over; however, I came back the next day fired up to win the state title and beat the guy who beat me the day before to win the state championship. I saw the work I put in pay off in real time, so I stuck to it and continued to go to the compound every day they were open. This was the greatest thing I could have done for me in my wrestling career. My junior season flew by in which I was undefeated in GISA and got my one-hundredth win as a varsity wrestler. My goal was met. I am a state champion, but my work is not finished. After I won my sophomore year, I made a goal to become a national All-American wrestler which I will not stop until I either achieve this or am unable to continue. I'll close with this, I know I am small, short, and an underdog, but that does not stop me from working harder than everybody because hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
