My faith in God has carried me through every season of my life. I am a proud Puerto Rican and Black woman, and a mother of two beautiful children who give me strength and purpose every day. Growing up, my life was not perfect, but it was filled with lessons that taught me the true meaning of love, sacrifice, and faith. After my parents’ breakup, my mother left, and my father ; a strong Black man ; raised my brother and me on his own. He worked tirelessly to keep us in private school, put food on the table, and make sure we had everything we needed. He carried anger and frustration that I did not fully understand as a child, but now I see that it came from a place of love and exhaustion. My father’s strength and sacrifices taught me perseverance, and my faith helped me learn forgiveness and grace. As I grew older and became a mother myself, I began to understand how deeply faith anchors a person through difficult times. Balancing nursing school, working to provide for my children, and managing the responsibilities of daily life has not been easy. There were many nights when I studied after my kids were asleep, wondering if I would have enough energy to do it all again the next day. There were times when I felt like giving up, but prayer and Scripture reminded me that God was still with me. One verse that has carried me through the hardest days is Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Those words remind me that even when I feel weak, God’s strength is made perfect in my weakness. He has never failed me, even when life felt uncertain. Through every challenge, my faith has helped me see purpose in the pain and beauty in the struggle. It has shaped the kind of mother and nurse I strive to be; one who leads with compassion, patience, and empathy. Nursing allows me to live out my faith through service and care, offering comfort and hope to those who need it most. I want my children to see that no matter where you come from or what hardships you face, faith in God can turn obstacles into blessings. My life is a testimony that His grace truly sustains us, and I am determined to use my faith to inspire others, to lift them up, and to remind them that they are never alone.

From the moment I decided to pursue nursing, I knew I wanted to specialize in a field where I could have a profound impact on the lives of the most vulnerable patients. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) calls to me because it combines advanced clinical care, critical thinking, and deep compassion to support newborns and their families during the most delicate stages of life. My vision as a future NICU nurse is to provide holistic, family-centered care that addresses the medical, emotional, and developmental needs of these tiny patients, while also serving as a source of education, guidance, and comfort for their families. The NICU environment demands a unique combination of technical skills and emotional resilience. I envision myself as a nurse who is highly competent in advanced neonatal care, able to monitor and interpret vital signs, manage complex medical equipment, and respond quickly to emergencies. I am committed to continuous learning, staying current with evidence-based practices, and embracing new technologies that improve neonatal outcomes. By maintaining a high standard of clinical competence, I will ensure that each infant receives safe, precise, and effective care tailored to their individual needs. Equally important to my vision is the human connection I will foster with families. Having grown up with a single father and brother, I understand how powerful family support is in shaping resilience, hope, and recovery. NICU families often face overwhelming stress, fear, and uncertainty, and I aspire to be a nurse who not only cares for their infants but also educates, reassures, and empowers parents. I want to create an environment where families feel included in the care process, understand their child’s condition and treatment plan, and gain confidence in their ability to participate in care. By fostering trust, empathy, and open communication, I hope to support both the infant and the family emotionally and psychologically during a critical time. Faith has also shaped my vision as a nurse. My Christian beliefs have taught me the value of compassion, patience, and service, and I hope to bring these qualities into my practice. In the NICU, there are moments of uncertainty, grief, and triumph, and my faith provides me with the strength and perspective to support families with empathy and dignity. I envision myself as a nurse who offers not only clinical care but also encouragement, hope, and understanding when parents face difficult decisions or unexpected outcomes. Education and advocacy are other components of my vision. I plan to serve as a mentor for new nurses entering the NICU, sharing knowledge, skills, and strategies for providing high-quality neonatal care. I also aspire to educate families about infant care, including developmental milestones, feeding, and safe sleep practices, so that they feel prepared to continue nurturing their babies after discharge. By promoting both professional growth and patient education, I hope to contribute to a culture of excellence and support within the NICU. Looking further into the future, I envision expanding my expertise through continuing education, certifications, and possibly pursuing advanced practice roles in neonatology. I am committed to lifelong learning and professional development, which will allow me to implement the latest evidence-based interventions, participate in research to improve neonatal outcomes, and mentor the next generation of NICU nurses. Ultimately, my vision as a NICU nurse is rooted in a balance of clinical excellence, compassionate care, and family-centered support. I want to be the nurse who not only saves lives but also nurtures hope, confidence, and resilience in families. I aspire to create meaningful connections, provide reassurance during moments of fear, and celebrate the milestones—no matter how small—that signify progress and growth in the infants I care for. Through dedication, faith, and a commitment to excellence, I hope to make a lasting impact on the lives of my patients, their families, and the NICU community as a whole.

From a young age, I was drawn to caring for others and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Growing up in a household with my single father and brother, I learned the importance of resilience, responsibility, and compassion. Watching my father work tirelessly to provide for our family instilled in me a deep appreciation for hard work, dedication, and the sacrifices it takes to care for those we love. These experiences shaped my values and inspired me to pursue a career in nursing—a profession that allows me to serve others while combining empathy, knowledge, and skill. Nursing is more than a career to me; it is a calling. I am inspired by the opportunity to support patients not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well. During my clinical experiences, I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact compassionate care can have on patients. A comforting word, a listening ear, or even a gentle touch can ease anxiety, foster trust, and provide reassurance in moments of vulnerability. These experiences have solidified my belief that nursing is about more than medical interventions—it is about human connection, advocacy, and providing dignity and comfort to those in need. My journey toward nursing has been shaped by perseverance, faith, and the people who have encouraged me along the way. As a single parent pursuing higher education, I have learned how to balance the responsibilities of parenting, work, and school. It has required time management, resilience, and unwavering dedication, but these challenges have also strengthened my compassion and empathy—qualities I bring to patient care. My Christian faith has been a cornerstone of my journey, guiding my decisions, grounding me in difficult times, and inspiring me to serve others with humility and grace. Beyond nursing, I am passionate about creating joy, balance, and purpose in my life through my family and creative outlets. My child is a constant source of inspiration, reminding me of the importance of love, patience, and the example I set as both a parent and a professional. Additionally, I enjoy music, art, and spending time outdoors—activities that bring me peace, allow me to recharge, and help me approach life and caregiving with renewed energy. I have found that nurturing these passions outside of my studies and clinical work allows me to remain centered and present for those I care for, both personally and professionally. What drives me as a caregiver is a desire to make a tangible difference in the lives of others, especially during their most vulnerable moments. I am motivated by the opportunity to offer comfort, guidance, and support, and to empower patients to take an active role in their health. Nursing allows me to combine my values, faith, and experiences into a meaningful vocation that has the potential to positively impact individuals, families, and communities. Ultimately, my journey toward nursing has been shaped by my family, my faith, and my commitment to serving others. It is a path that allows me to live out my values, contribute to the well-being of others, and make a meaningful difference in my community. At the same time, nurturing my passions and personal relationships ensures that I remain balanced, inspired, and fulfilled. Nursing is not just a career; it is a calling, and I am dedicated to embracing it fully while living a life of compassion, purpose, and service.

I was inspired to pursue a career in nursing because of my deep desire to care for others, provide comfort in times of vulnerability, and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Growing up in a household with my single father and brother, I learned firsthand the importance of resilience, responsibility, and compassion. My father worked tirelessly to provide for our family, and his example instilled in me a strong work ethic and a determination to persevere despite life’s challenges. These early experiences taught me that caring for others is not only a responsibility but also a privilege, and they shaped my understanding of what it means to serve with dedication and empathy. Being a single parent while pursuing my education has further inspired my passion for nursing. Balancing parenting, work, and school is demanding and requires careful planning, patience, and perseverance. There have been late nights and countless moments of exhaustion, yet every challenge has reinforced my commitment to my goals. These experiences have also strengthened my empathy, allowing me to relate to people who face difficulties and helping me understand the importance of providing care with patience and compassion. Nursing offers me the opportunity to channel these qualities into a profession that has a direct impact on others’ well-being. My Christian faith has been a guiding force throughout my life and is central to my inspiration to become a nurse. It has taught me the value of serving others selflessly, offering compassion without judgment, and finding strength in God’s guidance. I view nursing as a calling, an opportunity to live out my faith in a tangible way by supporting patients during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Nursing allows me to combine my faith, empathy, and skills to make a lasting impact on individuals and their families, helping them feel supported, seen, and cared for. During my clinical experiences, I have witnessed the profound effect that compassionate nursing care can have on patients. A comforting word, a patient ear, or a gentle touch can ease fear, foster trust, and provide reassurance. These experiences have solidified my commitment to pursuing nursing as a career, reinforcing that it is not only about medical expertise but also about human connection, understanding, and advocacy. Nursing provides a platform to support patients holistically, addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Ultimately, my inspiration to pursue nursing stems from a combination of personal experiences, family influences, and faith. I am motivated by the opportunity to serve others, provide hope and healing, and make a meaningful difference in my community. Nursing is more than a career for me—it is a calling that aligns with my values, my faith, and my desire to contribute to the well-being of others. 1.) From a young age, I have been drawn to caring for others and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. My personal experiences with health challenges, family struggles, and recovery have shaped my desire to pursue a career in nursing. Growing up with a single father and a brother, I learned the importance of compassion, patience, and resilience. These values became even more significant as I navigated personal hardships, including overcoming substance abuse, balancing responsibilities as a single parent, and witnessing the struggles of loved ones. My Christian faith has also been a guiding force in my journey toward nursing. It has instilled in me the belief that serving others is a calling and that showing empathy and care can transform lives. Nursing combines my natural desire to help with the opportunity to make a tangible difference in people’s health and well-being. It is a career that requires not only technical skill but also emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and a heart for service—all qualities I have developed through life’s challenges. During my clinical experiences, I realized that nursing allows me to support patients not only physically but emotionally and spiritually as well. The ability to comfort someone during pain, guide them through uncertainty, and celebrate their progress inspires me to grow as a nurse every day. My ultimate goal is to provide compassionate, competent care that honors the dignity and humanity of every patient. Nursing is more than a career for me; it is a way to live out my values, my faith, and my commitment to helping others in their most vulnerable moments. 2.) To me, the phrase “human touch” goes far beyond physical contact. It represents empathy, compassion, connection, and understanding in patient care. Human touch is the intentional act of acknowledging another person’s presence, validating their feelings, and providing comfort in moments of fear, pain, or uncertainty. It is the simple gesture of holding a hand, offering a reassuring smile, or listening attentively that communicates care and concern when words alone may not suffice. In healthcare, human touch has a profound impact on patient outcomes. Patients who feel seen, heard, and cared for experience decreased stress, reduced anxiety, and an increased sense of safety and trust. This emotional support can positively influence physical healing, as research shows that stress reduction and emotional well-being play a critical role in recovery. Human touch allows nurses to connect with patients on a deeper level, fostering trust and encouraging open communication. When patients trust their caregivers, they are more likely to follow treatment plans, ask questions, and engage actively in their care, which contributes to better health outcomes. Human touch also encompasses cultural sensitivity, respect, and understanding. For some patients, a gentle hand on the shoulder or eye contact conveys reassurance; for others, listening actively and respecting personal boundaries communicates care. Nurses must adapt their approach to meet each patient’s needs while maintaining professionalism and empathy. Beyond clinical outcomes, human touch helps nurses maintain their own sense of purpose and fulfillment. Forming meaningful connections with patients reminds caregivers why they chose this profession and reinforces the importance of holistic, patient-centered care. Human touch is a bridge that transforms healthcare from a purely technical practice into a deeply human experience. In essence, human touch is the heart of nursing. It conveys empathy, trust, and compassion in ways that medical interventions alone cannot. By prioritizing human connection, nurses not only enhance patient care but also honor the dignity, humanity, and emotional well-being of those they serve.

    Ella's Gift
I struggled with substance abuse issues in 2014, and I am forever grateful to God for leading me back to the right path. During that difficult time, I faced challenges that left me feeling hopeless, alone, and unsure of my future. I made choices I regretted, and I had to confront the consequences of those decisions. Through it all, I learned the power of faith, perseverance, and surrendering my struggles to God. My Christian faith became my anchor, guiding me toward healing, forgiveness, and hope for a brighter future. Recovery has been a lifelong journey rooted in faith, prayer, and the support of a loving community. I learned to rely not only on myself but also on God’s strength to navigate the challenges of sobriety. Each day became an opportunity to practice gratitude, self-discipline, and compassion. I celebrated every small victory—whether it was overcoming a craving, reaching out for help during difficult moments, or choosing the path of honesty and integrity. My experiences taught me resilience, humility, and empathy, and they inspired me to encourage others who may be facing similar struggles. My journey through mental health challenges and substance abuse has shaped me into a more compassionate and purpose-driven person. Being a single parent has taught me lessons about resilience, time management, and the value of determination. Raising two children on my own requires careful planning, adaptability, and constant prioritization; balancing their needs while pursuing my education has not always been easy, but it has strengthened my ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. I have learned to create structured routines, organize my days around both school and family obligations, and maximize the time I dedicate to studying while still being present and attentive to my children. Education is a critical step in creating a better future for my family and myself. I am currently pursuing an Associate of Science in Nursing, with the goal of graduating in May 2026. Nursing has been a lifelong dream, one that I temporarily set aside to focus on raising my children. Now, as I approach the final stages of my degree, every class, assignment, and clinical rotation brings me closer to achieving that goal. My commitment to my education is fueled by the desire to provide stability, opportunity, and a strong example for my children; I want them to see that determination, hard work, and perseverance can turn dreams into reality. Balancing school and family requires strategic planning and consistent dedication. I set aside early mornings or late evenings for focused study sessions and assignments, and I use any free time efficiently to review materials or prepare for exams. I have built a strong support system through family, friends, and colleagues, and I rely on them when I need assistance with childcare or household responsibilities. This network allows me to focus on my education without compromising the care and attention my children deserve. Additionally, I maintain clear communication with my children about my schedule and goals, which helps them understand the importance of education and encourages them to value their own learning journeys. Receiving this scholarship would significantly ease the financial burden that comes with tuition, textbooks, and clinical supplies. The relief provided by this support would allow me to focus more fully on my studies and less on the stress of covering costs. It would help ensure that I am able to register for my final semester and complete my degree on schedule, without delays caused by financial constraints. By supporting my education, this scholarship would not only allow me to achieve my personal and professional goals but would also positively impact my children by providing them with a stronger, more stable foundation and inspiring them to pursue their own academic dreams. Ultimately, balancing education and family as a single parent has strengthened my resilience, discipline, and dedication. This scholarship would provide the practical support necessary to help me complete my degree while continuing to be a present, engaged, and supportive parent. It represents the opportunity to finish the journey I have worked so hard for and to show my children that even in the face of challenges, ambition, focus, and determination can make dreams attainable. By receiving this support, I can continue on the path to becoming a registered nurse, while setting a lasting example of perseverance and achievement for my family.

Growing up in a single-parent household shaped who I am today and influenced every step of my journey toward nursing. My father raised my brother and me because my mother was unable to financially support us; it was a rough environment, and many nights were difficult. My dad was a disciplinarian with a short temper, and while he provided for us, the household often felt strict and tense. In those moments, my brother and I leaned on each other for support, forming a bond that taught me early on the importance of empathy, resilience, and loyalty. Those early experiences of struggle and reliance on others’ care planted the seed for my desire to help people and make a difference in their lives. Becoming a mother at a young age further strengthened these qualities. Raising two children as a single parent required me to develop patience, resourcefulness, and determination… qualities that mirror those required in nursing. Balancing work, parenting, and my own aspirations has not been easy, but it has solidified my ambition to create a better life for my family while serving others. Motherhood taught me that true strength is measured not just by personal achievement, but by the capacity to care for and uplift those who depend on you. Working as a Certified Nursing Assistant allowed me to transform that empathy into action. Caring for clients in their homes and clinical settings showed me how deeply compassionate care can impact a person’s life. I have seen patients at their most vulnerable, and I have learned that patience, understanding, and advocacy are just as important as medical skill. These experiences ignited a passion for nursing; I realized that this profession allows me to combine my personal strengths with professional knowledge to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Returning to school at 30 while raising my children has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding periods of my life. Late nights studying and early mornings preparing for clinicals often feel overwhelming, but each step reminds me why I started. My life experiences—growing up in a strict household, becoming a single mother, and caring for others professionally—have cultivated resilience and perseverance that drive me forward. I want to model for my children that determination and hard work can turn challenges into opportunities. These experiences have also fueled my commitment to advocacy and compassionate care. I understand the struggles of vulnerable populations because I have lived challenges of my own… financial hardships, uncertainty, and the pressures of balancing responsibility at a young age. Nursing gives me the chance to use these lessons to serve others with empathy, skill, and dedication. My ambition is to be the kind of nurse who not only provides excellent care but also offers comfort, reassurance, and hope when it is needed most. Ultimately, my background and life experiences have shaped my identity, my goals, and my path toward nursing. They have instilled in me a drive to succeed, a passion for serving others, and the resilience to overcome obstacles… qualities that I will carry into my career and into every patient interaction. Nursing is not just a profession; it is the culmination of my journey, my values, and my determination to create meaningful change in the lives of others while building a better future for my family.
Champions Of A New Path Scholarship
I believe I deserve this scholarship because of the combination of life experience, resilience, and determination that I bring to my education and my future career. I have faced challenges that many students have not, including becoming a mother at a young age, raising two children as a single parent, and navigating the responsibilities of work, school, and family simultaneously… all while maintaining strong academic performance. These experiences have taught me perseverance, patience, and the ability to adapt under pressure; qualities that are essential in nursing and in life. Growing up in a single-parent household shaped my character and work ethic in profound ways. My father raised my brother and me because my mother was unable to financially support us. Life at home was often strict and challenging; my dad was a disciplinarian with a short temper, and my brother and I leaned on each other for support. Those experiences taught me resilience, responsibility, and empathy; lessons that now define my identity and guide my ambition. I learned early that achieving goals requires hard work, focus, and the courage to keep moving forward even in the face of obstacles. Becoming a mother at a young age further strengthened these qualities. Raising two children as a single parent required me to develop resourcefulness, patience, and determination; qualities that mirror those required in nursing. Balancing school, work, and parenting has not been easy, but every challenge has reinforced my ambition to complete my education and build a better life for my family. These experiences have also instilled a deep sense of compassion and understanding for others, which I bring into my academic and professional pursuits. Working as a Certified Nursing Assistant has allowed me to transform these qualities into practical skills and hands-on experience. Caring for clients in their homes and clinical settings has taught me how to provide support, advocate for patients, and navigate challenging situations with professionalism and empathy; skills that cannot be learned from a textbook alone. This experience has solidified my passion for nursing and my determination to become a registered nurse, while also giving me a unique perspective on the challenges and rewards of the profession. What sets me apart from other applicants is this combination of life experience, practical knowledge, and unwavering drive. I have overcome obstacles that might have caused others to pause or give up, yet I have remained committed to my goals. I have learned to balance multiple responsibilities, maintain academic success, and provide for my children, all while keeping my long-term vision in focus. My personal and professional experiences give me a maturity and resilience that I believe is a significant advantage in both my education and future career. Receiving this scholarship would not only ease the financial burden of tuition and allow me to continue my education, but it would also be an investment in someone who is dedicated, hardworking, and deeply committed to making a meaningful impact. I am motivated not only by my own goals, but by the opportunity to serve my community, create a stable future for my children, and contribute to the field of nursing with compassion and skill. This scholarship would allow me to continue pursuing my dreams with focus and determination, turning challenges into opportunities, and making a positive difference in the lives of others.

As a Christian, my faith has always been the foundation of my life and the driving force behind my commitment to serving my community. My involvement in my local church has shaped not only my personal values but also the way I approach helping others. From a young age, I was taught that living a life of faith means putting others before yourself; showing compassion; and making a positive impact on those around you… These lessons have guided me in both my volunteer work and my personal growth, teaching me that true service comes from a desire to help rather than from obligation. Through my church, I have been actively involved in a variety of ministries and outreach programs. I regularly participate in community food drives, helping to collect, organize, and distribute essential items to families facing food insecurity… These experiences have taught me the importance of empathy, teamwork, and taking initiative. Additionally, I volunteer with youth programs, mentoring younger students; assisting with tutoring; and leading small group activities… These roles have strengthened my leadership, communication, and organizational skills, allowing me to better serve my community while living out the Christian values I hold dear. My church also encourages members to identify needs in our community and take action… This guidance has motivated me to seek out opportunities beyond church walls, such as organizing neighborhood clean-ups; visiting elderly residents in assisted living; and supporting local health awareness events. One experience that stands out is helping organize a back-to-school supply drive, where I worked with volunteers to provide hundreds of children with backpacks, notebooks, and school supplies. Seeing the joy and relief on the faces of families reminded me of the tangible impact of service rooted in faith… The values I’ve learned as a Christian—service, compassion, and integrity—have given me the confidence and sense of responsibility to make meaningful contributions in these areas. Being a Christian has taught me that service is not just about completing tasks, but about uplifting others and demonstrating God’s love in action… This perspective has shaped how I approach volunteer work and inspired me to lead by example, showing others that even small acts of kindness can have a significant impact. Serving my community through the principles of my faith has reinforced my belief that leadership is rooted in service, humility, and dedication to others. Looking ahead, I hope to continue applying the lessons learned through my church involvement to all areas of my life… academically, professionally, and personally. Receiving this scholarship would allow me to pursue higher education without the financial burden, giving me the freedom to further develop my skills, deepen my faith, and continue making a positive impact in my community as a devoted Christian. I am committed to carrying forward the values of my faith in every aspect of my life, ensuring that service and compassion remain at the center of who I am.

Liz & Wayne Matson Jr. Caregiver Scholarship
Caregiving has shaped every part of who I am; my goals, my journey, and my identity. What began as a responsibility quickly became a calling that revealed my true purpose: to dedicate my life to helping others. Through the experience of caring for family members and the clients I serve as a CNA, I’ve learned that compassion, patience, and resilience are not just traits but they’re tools that can heal, comfort, and inspire hope. My caregiving journey began early in life. As a young mother, I learned firsthand what it meant to put someone else’s needs before my own. Balancing motherhood, work, and personal challenges forced me to grow stronger, more patient, and more understanding. When you care for others, whether it’s your children, a loved one, or a patient, you begin to see the world differently. You learn to notice the small details, to listen deeply, and to offer comfort even when you can’t fix everything. These moments taught me that care is more than physical assistance; it’s emotional presence, compassion, and empathy. As I grew older, caregiving extended beyond my home. Working as a Certified Nursing Assistant has given me the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life; patients who are elderly, ill, or recovering from surgeries. I’ve learned that every person has a story, and that listening can be just as powerful as any treatment. Some days, I’m simply a steady presence for someone who feels alone. Other days, I’m helping a patient regain their independence, one small step at a time. These experiences have shaped my identity as someone who finds meaning in service and purpose in making a difference. This work also inspired my decision to become a nurse. Nursing allows me to take the compassion I’ve developed through caregiving and combine it with clinical knowledge and professional skill. I want to be the kind of nurse who not only provides excellent care but also advocates for patients and families when they feel unheard. My caregiving experience has prepared me for that role; it taught me to stay calm under pressure, to approach challenges with empathy, and to value every opportunity to make someone’s day a little better. The journey hasn’t been easy. Returning to school at 32 while raising two children has required determination and sacrifice. There are nights I stay up late studying after tucking my kids into bed and mornings when I leave for clinicals before the sun rises. But every challenge reminds me why I started. My children are my biggest motivation, and I want them to see that perseverance and kindness can open doors no matter what obstacles life places in your way. Caregiving has shaped not just my career goals, but the person I’ve become. It has made me more patient, empathetic, and grounded. It’s shown me that the smallest acts of kindness can have the biggest impact. Through caregiving, I found my passion, my purpose, and my identity. And now, as I work toward becoming a nurse, I carry those lessons with me, determined to continue serving others with the same compassion and strength that caregiving has instilled in me.

From a young age, I’ve always felt drawn to caring for others. Becoming a nurse has been a dream that never left my heart, even when life took me on a different path. As a single mother of two, I’ve learned what it truly means to be strong, compassionate, and selfless…qualities that define nursing and continue to guide me every day. Having my first child young changed the timing of my journey, but not my determination. I put my education on hold to raise my family, and while that choice was difficult, it shaped who I am today. Motherhood taught me lessons that no textbook could ; patience when things don’t go as planned, resilience when life feels overwhelming, and empathy for those facing challenges. Those experiences have deepened my understanding of people and strengthened my desire to help others. Now, at 32, I’m finally fulfilling the dream I set aside years ago. I’m currently working toward my Associate of Science in Nursing and plan to graduate in May 2026. Returning to school as an adult has been one of the hardest yet most rewarding experiences of my life. Balancing motherhood, work, and coursework often feels like a juggling act, but every class and every late-night study session brings me one step closer to creating a better life for my children and making a difference in the lives of others. Nursing, to me, is more than a career—it’s a calling. It’s about being there for people in their most vulnerable moments, offering comfort, care, and understanding. I’ve seen firsthand how deeply a nurse can impact a patient and their family, not just through clinical skill but through genuine compassion. I aspire to be that kind of nurse… the one who not only treats but also uplifts and advocates for others. However, the financial strain of tuition has made this journey incredibly difficult. Despite working hard and managing expenses carefully, I worry that I won’t be able to register for my final semester due to the cost. I have come too far to give up now. This scholarship would not only ease that burden but also make it possible for me to complete the education I’ve worked so hard for. Receiving this scholarship would mean more than financial relief, it would represent hope and opportunity. It would allow me to show my children that perseverance pays off, that no matter how many obstacles stand in your way, it’s never too late to chase your dreams. My goal is to graduate, become a registered nurse, and continue giving back to others with the same compassion and care that has always been at the center of who I am.
