      James B. McCleary Music Scholarship
I am a college freshman pursuing music performance to help me better myself as a musician. I passed my first semester with A's and B's and have a 3.94 GPA. I am currently in the Basketball band, symphonic band, wind ensemble, and jazz ensemble. I've been in band since middle school for 8 years. Music has always been a part of me. When I was little, I picked up on playing the drums. I didn't have a teacher or someone who taught me. It came naturally to me. Since then, I have had a passion for music and continue to use this gift today. I want to use my gift to inspire and show people what I can do and to show that music can be fun. My parents have also supported me through music and everything I do. With my music degree, I plan on touring and performing with many different artists and orchestras. I also plan on doing some drum instructing at some schools. I’m also doing this because of the gift GOD has given me. None of it would be possible without him being in my life. I started playing drums when I was little, growing up in the church, and became passionate about it. When I play the drums, I feel free and can express myself even more. I want to be able to show other people that music can be anything you want it to be. Just have fun and enjoy what you do. I want to be able to put smiles on people's faces and help encourage those coming behind me to remain focused and never give up, no matter how challenging life gets. I hope whatever I do will impact people and inspire them that anything is possible if you believe. To me, fame and money don't matter. As long as I am putting smiles on faces and inspiring people with what I am doing, that's all that matters. I have become more confident in my passion and dream of becoming a professional musician. Whenever I encounter a difficult situation, I use my faith to help me overcome every circumstance and fear. I know that with trusting GOD everything will work out and be okay. This scholarship will help me achieve my musician's dream and relieve some of the financial burden to focus on completing my college degree and sharing my gift with the world.
