- Mathematics and Statistics, Other

I would describe myself as a hard-working individual who has a great passion for mathematics. Mathematics has always been a major part of my life, playing a role in my past, present, and planned future. Ever since I was young, mathematics has always made sense to me. I always excelled in my classes, and went to math competitions. In seventh grade I went to my first national competition in Chicago, hosted by MathCON. I only managed to get a bronze medal, but it showed me there was so much more to learn. I moved my way up into the most advanced mathematics classes, learning geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. I learned more and more, and every single part I found fun and interesting. I knew that mathematics must be a part of my future. Even now, as an adult preparing to go to and pay for college, I still retain my love for mathematics. When I graduate and go on to higher education, I plan on majoring in Mathematics and Statistics, which I believe I will find very interesting and which will be very helpful in preparation for my dream career. My dream is to become an actuary in the future, which focuses on using mathematics, statistics, and probability to calculate risk, usually for insurance companies. To become an actuary is hard work, with years of study and several exams, each with a low pass rate averaging around 50% or lower. I believe I am a great candidate because I am a hard worker who has a great drive to learn and achieve his goal. I have constantly worked hard in school and excelled in my classes, and hope I meet your expectations for scholarships.
