Bio

I’m passionate about building ethical, human-centered artificial intelligence. My life goal is to advance AI research in a way that not only pushes the boundaries of technology but also ensures that these innovations benefit society responsibly. I want to work at the intersection of AI and public good, designing intelligent systems that solve real problems without compromising fairness, safety, or transparency. What drives me most is the potential of AI to create real-world impact, from improving healthcare systems to enhancing education and accessibility. I’ve already conducted AI research at the undergraduate level, and I plan to pursue graduate studies to deepen my expertise. My academic foundation, a 3.95 GPA in Computer Science, reflects the dedication and curiosity I bring to every project. I believe I’m a strong candidate because I combine technical skills with a strong sense of purpose. I'm not just learning to code; I’m learning to create responsibly. I’m also someone who values balance. Outside of academics, I play pickleball to keep my mind sharp and stay grounded. I’m committed, driven, and ready to put in the work to make meaningful contributions to the field of AI.

Chris Jackson Computer Science Education Scholarship
My journey into computer science began in high school when I first experienced programming in an introductory course. I was immediately captivated by the idea that I could write lines of code to solve problems and create functional applications. This fascination quickly grew into a deep passion as I realized that computer science is not just about coding but about designing innovative solutions that impact everyday life. This understanding motivated me to pursue a degree in computer science, where I could build the skills necessary to turn ideas into impactful realities. My goal after completing my degree is to become an artificial intelligence researcher focused on developing ethical and human-centered AI systems. I am especially interested in creating technologies that improve accessibility, education, and healthcare, helping to reduce disparities and empower underserved communities. I believe that AI holds tremendous potential to transform society, but it must be developed responsibly to ensure fairness, transparency, and respect for individual rights. By combining technical expertise with a strong ethical foundation, I want to contribute to building AI that benefits everyone. I believe I am the best candidate for the Chris Jackson Computer Science Education Scholarship because of my strong commitment, ambition, and connection to the struggles that come with funding a college education. Like Chris Jackson, I have encountered financial challenges in pursuing my degree, which have made me appreciate the value of support and determination even more. This scholarship would relieve a significant portion of my financial burden, allowing me to dedicate more time and energy to my studies and research without distraction. Additionally, I am inspired by Chris Jackson’s legacy of kindness and insight, and I strive to bring those qualities into my academic life and community. I actively participate in mentoring younger students and volunteering in STEM outreach initiatives to share my passion for technology and help others discover their potential. I see education as a community effort, and I want to contribute to making technology accessible and inclusive for all. Receiving this scholarship would be a tremendous honor and an important step toward achieving my academic and career goals. I am committed to honoring Chris Jackson’s memory by using my education to make a meaningful and positive impact in the field of computer science. Thank you for your consideration.
    Chadwick D. McNab Memorial Scholarship
During my junior year, I led a project that profoundly shaped my passion for technology and demonstrated the powerful impact it can have on people’s lives. I developed an AI-powered study assistant designed specifically to help students with learning disabilities better organize their study schedules and receive personalized explanations for complex concepts. This project was not only a technical challenge but also a deeply meaningful opportunity to create a tool that could empower students facing educational hurdles that traditional systems often overlook. The development process required me to design and implement machine learning algorithms that adapt dynamically to individual learning styles. I integrated natural language processing techniques to break down complicated academic topics into simpler, more understandable terms. Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with educators and students to gather feedback, allowing me to iteratively improve the system and ensure it addressed real needs effectively. This experience taught me that empathy is an essential part of technology development; creating impactful software means understanding the human problems behind the code. This project reinforced my ambition to pursue research in artificial intelligence with a focus on ethical and inclusive technology. I am driven by the vision of building intelligent systems that not only push the boundaries of innovation but also make education and information accessible to all, regardless of their individual challenges. Technology, to me, is a powerful tool for personal growth and community progress — ideals that Chadwick D. McNab embodied throughout his life and career. In addition to technical skills, this project honed my abilities in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Coordinating with a diverse group of stakeholders, including teachers, students, and fellow developers, helped me understand the importance of clear dialogue and collaboration. These experiences have prepared me to contribute meaningfully to future interdisciplinary research and development teams. Outside the classroom and lab, I am an avid pickleball player. This sport keeps me physically active and mentally sharp, teaching me resilience, strategic thinking, and the value of continuous improvement — qualities I bring into my academic and research work. Whether on the court or in coding, I embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. Receiving the Chadwick D. McNab Memorial Scholarship would significantly ease my financial burden, allowing me to dedicate more time to deepening my research and contributing to meaningful projects in AI. It would also help me pursue graduate studies, where I plan to expand my knowledge and impact in ethical AI development. I am committed to honoring Chadwick’s legacy by using technology to help others reach their full potential and foster positive change in my community. In sum, working in technology inspires me because it blends creativity, logic, and empathy to solve complex problems that affect real people. This scholarship would be a vital step forward in my journey to becoming an AI researcher who not only innovates but also leads with purpose.
