Growing up, my goal was to go to college but I was unsure of what I wanted to do as a career. In high school I took an Autos class and loved it. It became a hobby and passion of mine. I really enjoy working with cars and I decided to become a mechanic/automotive technician. I enjoy talking, working and helping people. I appreciate honesty and I think I would make a great mechanic after learning the trade. I feel like I am a great candidate for this scholarship. Cars and working on cars are something I really enjoy. Thank you for your consideration.

My name is Daniel Bahena. I live with my mom, dad and younger brother and sister. I am currently a senior at Glenbrook South High School. I played football and did wrestling for a few years. I enjoy cars, basketball, music, games and bring with my family and friends. My faith is also important to me. I really enjoy helping people, especially my elderly neighbors. My family had overcome many obstacles and it makes us closer as a family. I am very close to my grandma, grandpa and aunts, uncles and cousins. Every year we all get together and take a trip somewhere. It is fun to make memories together. My friends are an important part of my life as well. I do many things with them.
I go to a very good school that has many opportunities for pretty much anything you want or are interested in. I have been involved in autos classes for all 4 years of high school. It is one of my favorite things during the day
I enjoy seeing cars at various car meets and also working and fixing cars. That is why I wanted to become a mechanic.
My family is pretty awesome. My mom is from here and my dad is from Mexico. It is cool to have both culture and be exposed to them. I have learned Spanish, enjoy the food of course, learned special dances, traditions and customs. My mom is from here. Her ancestors were from Europe. They were from England, Ireland, Italy, Germany and also Mexico.
I have had many experiences in my life that help make me who I am today. I have had some health issues in the past and that just made me stronger. My mom is currently dealing with cancer and it has been a lot as well. My faith is a big part of who I am. I have grown up learning how important it is to be honest, hard working, trustworthy, friendly, helpful, etc. I have done many outreach events such as volunteering at many things such as Feed My Starving Children and VBS at my church.
I enjoy going to watch my dad work on cars. He is a mechanic and I have learned a lot from him and still do. He is a honest and hard working man and isn't afraid of learning new things. I think that is where I got my passion for cars
We talk about cars, go to car meets, fix cars together. I hope to be an example and a great snd honest mechanic just like him.
