Growing up from a humble background, it was sometimes difficult to get a meal before even going to school in Ghana, West-Africa. At times paying for my school fees was a real challenge. This however, did not deter me. I persevered through thick and thin, until I completed High School. Then I had the desire to pursue further education so I enrolled in the Teachers' Training College, and successfully passed out as a fully-fledged teacher in 2003. It is important to indicate that my horrible financial situation equally informed my choice of enrolling in the teacher training college because then I wouldn't need to pay for the fees - it was the government policy to remit teacher trainees in the country with a training allowance to motivate more people to look into the teaching profession, which is gravely despised in the country. After the teacher's training college, I enrolled into the mainstream University, thus, pursuing a Diploma in Youth in Development Worker at the University of Ghana - Legon. I further endeared to pursue higher education abroad, which exercise, ended with my obtaining a Diploma in Theology from Victory Bible College in Tulsa, Oklahoma - USA in 2015 after an initial, but unsuccessful attempt to finish my Political Science program at Saint Leo University in Florida all due to the same old financial stress I had endured all these years unrelentlessly. One thing stands glaringly clear in my story, facing adversity with a mindset of victory. My financial stress has not denied me of my educational aspirations, it has only delayed my wishes. Now I look forward to obtaining the needed scholarship to pursue my law degree.

POVERTY AS A SOCIAL CANKER All over the world, if the citizens could enjoy economic stability, devoid of poverty, sicknesses and hunger most of the negative repercussions of the vicious cycle of poverty could be averted. In developing economies, like the Sub-Saharan Africa, the Brookings perk the poverty index at 41%. The world Bank report and many economic journals show that most of the people in this region and the other parts of the developing world live on less than $2 a day. This is a disheartening situation, and such a discrepancy in global economic standards of living accounts for about 70% of the global security threats. Many conflicts and wars in Africa are propelled by the very reason that a whopping majority of the people, languish in abject poverty. The exploitation of the vulnerable for all kinds of vices including war, human trafficking, armed robbery, prostitution, drug abuse, and many more find their common place in such societies. Poverty also, underlines widespread diseases, child mortality rates and increased rates of mortality among women ( especially pregnant women), children and the aged. Corruption is also, at the apex of the political leadership in developing economies, where high illiteracy rate has successfully doomed the demand for civic responsibility, civic virtues and general accountability. Global efforts, aimed at arresting this canker and perhaps eradicate it completely has still not reached it’s apex. From the Millennium Development Goals to its renewed agenda in the Sustainable Development Goals, the agenda is still struggling to accomplishing the ultimate goal. Democratic state institutions must be established by law and empowered to operate independently from political governmental control and undue influence of the social class in order to deal with the issue of corruption, whilst at the same time ensuring equitable distribution of the national cake.

Mr. Kofi Annan, Former Secretary General of the United Nations is a Ghanaian by nationality, who had most of his education in Ghana until after his first degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He also, pursued further education in the United States including his Alma Matta, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he obtained a Master’s degree. Mr. Annan rose through his public career as a diplomat to become the first gentleman of the global body – United Nations, responsible for global peace, where he successfully served his constitutionally legitimate two terms from January 1997 to December 2006. He became a co-recipient with the United Nations on one hand, of the Nobel Prize for Peace in 2001. As a son of the African soil, he broke the societal limitations and rose through the rank and file of the society to become such a distinctive diplomat of global repute. He proved to many African youngsters that possibility is within our reach with tenacity of purpose, discipline and hard work. In fact, his accomplishments instill in me, a renewed sense of confidence and an unquenchable drive to reach the apogee of my ambitions. Until his demise in 2018, he established the Kofi Annan Foundation to ensure global peace and disarmament, he was the Chancellor of the University of Ghana, launched projects to safeguard elections and democracy in the digital age, and many more innumerable achievements. 1. I would like Mr. Kofi Annan to share his views on disarmament in our quest for global peace, giving the two ideological stance of the IDEALISTS and the REALISTS. 2. I would also have loved to hear His Excellency Mr. Annan address poverty and global hunger within the pragmatic index of the SDGs. He left a great legacy in International Diplomacy worth emulating.
      Bold Great Books Scholarship
I enjoy reading widely across from Philosophy to Politics and Literature, but I think I enjoy Shakespeare's Things Fall Apart a lot. The book embodies all these disciplines and brings a great theme to bear on politics and society. One would at a point in life, feel inspired to contribute positively to their societies, but opposition can be very common, even when one meant it for good. The characterization of Ceasar as an ambitious man and the propagation from the camp of Cassius entangling Brutus an honorable man into some kind of political mudslinging is unnecessary, but worth a lesson for any political aspirations. As an individual with great interest in politics, the political environment is as equally important to me as the nobility of my political aspirations at least for the lessons gathered from this book. From this book, I also, learn about true friendship and relationship in life through the characterization of Antonio. In fact, apart from his humane nature so much discovered after the death of Ceasar in the crafty manner he was able to sway the citizenry ( the Commoners), his speech itself is very ironical and excellent piece and an offered example of a great public speaking. Julius Ceasar is a great literally piece of political communication of power struggle and statemanship. The positive link between one's ability to conspire against the other as in the characterization of Cassius and the reciprocal gesture of a wit to 'convert' the same commoners to respond regrettably to their naivity in causing the death of Ceasar is such a revolutionary architecture of politicking. For this scholarly viewpoint, I find the book very interesting and a practical guide.
      I Am Third Scholarship
I am a promising student from Ghana, a developing country with great development and leadership potentials to impact my country, and the world at large. Unfortunately though, I hail from a very humble background, as a result, this has always posed a great financial challenge to my pursuit of higher learning, with no particular exempt from my decision to pursuing Law in a higher institution of learning. Law study requires critical thinking, great communication skills, analytical and argumentative skills that inform a powerful logical reasoning, and this is the exact strength I bring on board that pursuit. My decision to study law at this point in time is very crucial for societal benefit and my personal fulfilment because of the universal porosity of global peace, litigations, public interests, human rights concerns, international ties between and among nations as well as global business development. These are global issues that require distinguished global citizens with such an understanding and academic training in legal fields to help buttress the insurmountable challenges already posed. As an international student with great interest in international diplomacy and aspirations to influencing the global order of governance, I deem it prudent to equip myself with such a relevant field of study to guarantee excellent delivery of my worth of knowledge as a quota to addressing these global concerns within the framework of globalization and intercultural development. Taking a giant decision to study law will equip me fully towards a professional career path as well as fulfilling a social responsibility by giving back to my society through my very engagement in sound democratic governance, policy assessment, demand for civic virtues and civic responsibilities and accountable governance in my individual country Ghana, and the globe at large. The resolve to train and practice Law as a career, will offer me the ample opportunity to engage the legal processes in my home country, Ghana, and for that reason Africa and the globe at large. The Judiciary Arm of Government in Ghana and many African countries under the Principle of Separation of Powers is jeopardized because of the excessive control and the political will and power vested in the Executive Arms of Governments by the very design of the Constitutions of these member nations. The demand for freedom and justice at times becomes a mere cliché because of the dwindling powers of the Judiciary, and the exercise thereof, of their legitimate constitutional roles in that part of the world, and perhaps many other jurisdictions. Restructuring our constitutional framework, and legal processes require strong legal and intellectual discourse, and I believe the opportunity for me to study Law would add to the impetus and prepare me for a front line role with such a legal intellectual capacity to engage the democratic political processes in my home country Ghana, Africa and the world at large for better reforms. To conclude with, I cannot afford to hide my passion for politics, and my keen interest in the democratic processes especially in developing economies, where the practice of democracy is still at its infantile stage, and requires informed democratic discourse in the body polity of that region including a well-strengthened Western democratic style, where the Rule of law, Separation of Powers, and democratic accountability are ensured through strengthened independent democratic state institutions.
      Pay it Forward Technology Scholarship
The world is fast growing with Information Communication Technology. Every industry is gradually migrating from analogue to digital frameworks. From professions such as Law, Business Administration, Engineering, Medicine, Teaching, Defense and Security to Government and Politics, the web technology advancement has made work more convenient to deliver a service or engineer a project or manufacture a product. It is against this background, that I seek to advance my technological know-how as an aspiring Lawyer and social entrepreneur to facilitate my business establishment, Professional Practice and Service delivery in this fast pace technological world. A lot of software Applications are quite advancing, and the curiosity is even more intense than it has ever arisen. Now, with biometric Information and data processing, cyberspace security is becoming competitively secured, with the more drive from a rather disadvantaged group to topple the efforts of digital security experts. The banks are endearing to secure the most state-of-the-art technology in banking both to safeguard customer interests and their very profit maximization motives. As an educational stakeholder, and Public Policy Analyst, my Advocacy through mainstream media and social media would seek to encourage academia and tech giants to encourage the inculcation of ICT education in the various educational curriculum and to set the enabling environment for technological manufacturing and advancement in our national and international development policy frameworks. More of Technological-driven scholarships must be created and awarded to students who intend to major in Computer Science and Computer Engineering, but not limited to that is the need for tech giants to reinvest as part of their corporate social responsibilities into the communities of our nations by executing community projects to grant social reliefs. More so, technologically engineered services and products would encourage the ordinary person to search, learn and advance their own individual knowledge in the acquisition and use of digital materials, products and services. Digital marketing for instance, has broadened product awareness and made sales increase for many tech driven industries. Nowadays, through social media marketing, even the least established business venture can reach the whole world and expand the consumer network to maximize profit. I encourage all these practices in our attempt to make more scientific discoveries and make our social lives less stressful. Last but not least, as an entrepreneur, I would rather have my business units and departments have some degree of knowledge of the digital marketing economy and to further ensure cross-functional teamwork with the IT department in my project management schemes.
      Dr. Samuel Attoh Legacy Scholarship
Growing up in life, my father always admonished me to endeavour to reach the height he himself could not attain. As an international student from Ghana West-Africa with a humble background, I never underestimated hard work in the face of the adversities of life. There were times I could not even secure a course of meal before going to school as a child, but I endeared through tenacity of purpose. Carving a great destiny for one's self is no mean a legacy that posterity can embrace wholeheartedly with pride. There are many social class of individuals I look up to in building the good faith of the life of success my parents implanted in me. Educational wise, none of my parents attained a college degree just because the environment did not favor their choices or perhaps they were limited with opportunities. Stepping forward from their legacy, it would simply be unacceptable if I do not endeavour to achieve the greater heights they aspired but for the limitations of their generation to realizing those goals. We are in a fast growing technogical world where everything revolves with speed in information acquisition and dissemination. Empowering one's self to catch up with the pace of development in this fast growing ICT world is not just a personal fulfilment, but a legacy for posterity to catch up in advancing their own world. As I have indicated early on, I hail from a very humble background so to a very large extent, the syndrome of the vicious cycle of poverty that adversely affected my parents and their aspirations must be tackled with every intent and purposes, and if not completely eradicated, then at least it must be abated. I therefore, cease every brilliant opportunity I come across in life and seek to maximize the benefits to be derived. At 40, though a brilliant student, I have not been able to secure my first degree yet because of the vicious cycle of poverty that bedeviled my parents. I am therefore, approaching this cancker with a more radical mindset to overcome and break the cycle before it's rippling effects are passed on to posterity that might follow my exiting this world. Even though, I do not have my first degree yet, many of my academic endeavors are unrelentingly geared towards the attainment of that goal. It is in the spirit of this good faith exercise that I have come across this scholarship opportunity I am so judiciously pursuing to enable me attend the College that has already accepted me to pursue my degree in Law and Public Policy at Albion College in the United States of America. My earlier attempts were unsuccessful because I couldn't grab the needed scholarship to support my educational financing; I could only attain some successes by completing a semester work at Saint Leo University in Florida, where I obtained a GPA of 4.0 on the scale of 4.0. That distinction put me on the Dean's List in the Fall of 2012. I proceeded further to Victory Bible College in Tulsa Oklahoma to complete a two year Diploma in Theology in 2015, and I am still not relenting because I must leave a lasting and more impactful legacy for posterity. My aspirations are International Diplomacy Law Practice and Politics, and I am hopeful to reach the apogee of my career goals and influence the globe positively, and leave a lasting legacy.

Scripture declares that life is in the blood.( Leviticus 17:11). God prophetically declared to the Prophet Jeremiah that when he was a clot of blood in the mother's womb, He (God) knew him - Jeremiah 1:5. As a Christian with this affirmative perspective to the revelations in this scripture, I have never doubted the engrafted word of God. The scripture has become my major guide in my understanding of the pro life advocacy. I do not challenge the other viewpoint on their constitutionally mandated right of choice, but instead, what I attempt doing with my position is to encourage and help people to be illuminated by the truth of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that does not mean coersion or manipulation or intolerance of their entrenched positions other than mine. The scripture declares that you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. The truth here is not relative. It is a revelatory truth, a personal truth ( the epignosis). Unfortunately though, the personal truth (epignosis) has been taken for a relative truth so reaching the heart of humanity takes love, care prayer and compassion, and these are the main cause of the ministry of salvation which the Lord Jesus Christ admonished us to preach to the world. As a student of the Bible with an understanding of a sound biblical doctrine therefore, I preach and teach and admonish on what is ideally acceptable before our Creator. In fact, what our Creator ( Yahweh) did not do was to superimpose His Will on humanity, but he recommended the ideal option in the face of the alternatives - thus, I present before you this day, life and death, but choose life (Deuteronomy 30:15-20). God gave the options, but made a prescription so in following the pattern of God, I only preach and give the prescription favorable unto the soul in the face of the many options of choices. All things are permissible to me but not all things are profitable...( I Corinthians 6:12-20) As an advocate of the International Justice Mission, every human rights under the Constitution of democratic nations matters, in the face of this reality, our religious inclinations may sometimes be at conflict with constitutional provisions, it is therefore, incumbent on us to approach the issues with a deeper understanding of the socio-cultural context, and of religious context, and cap it with the diplomatic elements of tact, wisdom, tolerance, enlightenment and love through whichever framework social stratification is engaged. I have done pro life advocacy from Outreach and Missions, universal advocacy, and democratic entrenchment undertakings, and it all boils down to tolerance in sending the message of salvation.

In Tangled, a sperk from the sun 🌞 that fell on the ground produces a magical flower that later became the healing miracle of an adorable queen who later gave birth to a much anticipated blonded lovely girl. Mother Gothel, a witch however, dissipates the joy of the queen and the King by stealing the baby, who originally had the magical grace. Later, the baby is rescued on her 16th birthday and brought home to the queen and the king, who hitherto, had marked each birthday celebration of their missing daughter with a lit and floating candle. The girl, Rapunzel, is introduced to the Kingdom and becomes a respectable princess. This story reminds me always of a secured destiny.
Jameela Jamil x I Weigh Scholarship
As an international student from Ghana, West-Africa on my Optional Practical Training after completing Victory Bible College, Tulsa Oklahoma - USA, I had to put my calling into practice. One such relevant moral imbuements was compassion ministry as Jesus left for the church - when he saw the multitude he was moved with compassion! I had relocated from Tulsa-Oklahoma to Laredo, Texas, when the Holy Spirit inspired me to do volunteering. I chose to spend some 6 hours a week with the Laredo Doctor's Hospital in Laredo Texas. After the approval of my volunteer application by the management of the Hospital, the Director of the Patients Advocacy and Chaplaincy Program at the Hospital in 2016 in the person of madam Rodriguez, gave me her blessings and the mandate to impact the hospital community, especially patients and their relatives as well as the hospital staff with my goodwill cause. I would visit the first, second and third floors, to pray and administer hope and believe for the healing grace of our Lord Jesus Christ for patients and their families each time. The second floor was the children's floor, and like Jesus would feel, compassion for the crowd, was no different from how I felt and mingled among the vulnerable especially these little children in pain. Families of patients I met periodically on my visits could not express their appreciations enough for my godly duties and kindest humanitarian gestures. On one such visits, I met the daughter of an elderly man in his 70s, a patient I had been visiting. He was an atheist, but he would welcome my prayers anyways. On that fateful day, he enthusiastically introduced me to his daughter as his pastor; it was such a mesmerizing moment for me! Interestingly enough, he was being discharged that very day, and after my prayers with the duo, the daughter asked: "How did you get my father into this? He wouldn't welcome any such prayers from your faith - this is crazy!". I said to them, the most important thing and mission of mine was to see his dad walk out of his hospitalized bed back home. We extended our conversations even more mutually into US socio-cultural environment vis-á-vis my own African cultural tennets. He wished me well in life, and that meant more to me than Gold and Silver! The Laredo community was largely Spanish speaking, but the language barrier did not deter me from reaching out to the community to contribute my meaningful quota to the social stratification efforts and the much needed community bond. Many families and patients who could not understand the English Language as my medium of communication would still encourage me to say a word of prayer - indeed, language barrier is not an excuse to deny a longing soul from the gift of life. Jesus came to give us life, and more so abundantly. At the climax of my almost a year of volunteer service (January -August, 2016) when my Optional Practical Training Program was coming to an end, my Director, madam Rodriguez called me to her office, and recounted on my appraisals, the number of individual families, who had walked to her office to appreciate the way I was impacting their spiritual and emotional lives through my ministry of compassion. My ministry, expanded to hospice patients, whom I ministered to on my biweekly schedules as a Chaplain and Counselor in my voyage , when on a contract appointment with Calidad Home Health Care company in the Valleys of South Texas. Then I learnt, it pays to show compassion to the vulnerable!

As a British Colony, Ghana uses English as the Lingua Franca, which means, though, it is our second Language, yet it is adopted as the official language of government business. As a result of this consideration, the educational curricular is designed to cater for the study of English Language. Per the Language Policy, English is taught as a subject from Primary 3 upwards, and used as a medium of instruction. Two things may account for a better grasp of the English Language acquisition i.e. one's school of attendance and the innate ability to learn English as a Language and a Subject. My good grasp of the English Language enabled me to teach English to Basic school students after graduating from the Teacher's Training College. I also, published a couple of curriculum materials on English Language Grammar and Literature in English for Basic schools in Ghana. The proficient acquisition of English as a Second Language gave me a smooth sail when I transitioned to the United States to pursue higher education. My transitional courses including the Bridge Program at Saint Leo University was very easy to pass. In fact, many of my Professors, thought I didn't even need the Bridge Program because of my level of proficiency. My first job I acquired as a Staff Writer, required a great command of both written and speaking pedigrees in the English Language, but my editors were amazed at the dexterity with which I deployed the English Language as my working tool in reporting and writing on various topics on the US political and the socio-economic landscape. I finished the first semester with a GPA of 4.0 on the scale of 4.0 including Creative Writing as a course taken with Grade 'A'. Music on the other hand we say is the soul of life. I took Music and Dance as a course in the Teachers' Training College in Ghana so there are many elements of music that I can look out for a better appreciation of a musical genre including such as the tone, texture, rythm, sound and harmony. There are many songs that I cannot grasp the lyrics off head, but just by listening with keen interest, I am able to respond kinesthetically and to connect with my body, soul and spirit. In fact, music spices life, and joins our community of nations together. For example, the Western Hippop is greatly embraced and adored in many African cultures, likewise the exchange of many African rhythmic styles in foreign genres. 2. My active Civic Leadership Engagement will offer me the opportunity to bring the communities of nations together for a harmonious and progressive coexistence.

As an international Transfer student, I had spent five years of my time in colleges and universities in the US pursuing higher education on an F1 student visa since I arrived in the United States in the Fall of 2012. Having transferred from Saint Leo University in Florida as a Political Science Major student, where I spent a semester and obtained a GPA of 4.0 on the Dean's List to Victory Bible College, Tulsa Oklahoma, I obtained a Diploma in Theology in 2015. My transfer decision was basically was basically informed by financial hardship in footing my educational cost at Saint Leo University as an indigent student. After completing Victory Bible College, I was in another process of transferring to Rhema Bible College to complete my degree in Theology when the law enforcement agency in Tulsa Oklahoma picked me up for a wrongful first degree rape charge. Because I was indigent, I was unable to post the bond amount of $10, 000 which would have been 10% of my $100,000 bond fee. I therefore, remained incarcerated for 13 good months in the Tulsa County jail awaiting my constitutional right to jury trial. After my trial, I was victoriously unanimously acquitted of the charge. However, been an international student, the Department of Homeland Security-ICE issued a Notice to Appear for failing to maintain my F1 Visa status by not completing a full course of studies. The immigration judge did not hid to my argument that I could not go to school to undertake the requisite full course of studies in fulfilment of my Visa conditions because of my wrongful incarceration. He accordingly, ordered my deportation and offered me the opportunity to appeal my case before the Board of Immigration Appeals if I wanted to. I ceased the opportunity of due process under the laws of the United States to appeal my deportation charge as a pro se ( thus, representing myself just because I could not afford to pay for an immigration attorney, and the laws did not permit the State to appoint me a free represented attorney under immigration hearings unlike under the criminal case, where I enjoyed the benefit of a Stated appointed criminal defense attorney). The Board of Immigration Appeals, equally sustained the Immigration Judge's removal decision, acknowledging, though, that I could not go to school to maintain my status as required of international F1 students because of my wrongful incarceration. I felt justice had been denied me, and therefore, pursued the legal battle by seeking for a review of the BIA's decision before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver, Colorado. On 16th March 2020, after the case management was exhausted before the court - spanning over a year in time frame, the Court presided over by its three panel of judges, concluded, that the statute ordering my removal did not require me to do anything in order for me to lose my F1 Visa status, and thus, once my F1 status had fallen, I take the responsibility howbeit, thereby, upholding the removal charge against me. This case has received a lot of media publications online, and my Court Appointed Attorneys by the Tenth Circuit, have taken the issue further to seek an enbanc rehearing before the Tenth Circuit, and perhaps Certiorari. The application is still in progress and should be submitted latest July 14, 2021. I am fundamentally charged with failing to maintain status as an F1 student for not completing full course of studies whilst wrongfully incarcerated. I and my attorneys have reasonably argued before the courts that I could not have completed full course of studies and thereby, maintain my F1 Visa status because of my wrongful incarceration, and the removal statute with its proper interpretation we seek, would require me to affirmatively and deliberately act in violation of the statute, wherefore, the given circumstances in my case does not support such requirement since I was just wrongfully incarcerated and wasted my precious and productive time to my life and educational cause for which I was present in the United States. Should one be wrongfully imprisoned without compensation and yet further be punished with a deportation? These are the pernicious repercussions I have suffered since I was wrongfully incarcerated in August 2017 till July 2019 when I was removed to my home country Ghana whilst my legal appeals were pending before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Currently, I have college admissions in the US. The case is Awuku-Asare v. Garland 19-9516. http://blog.cyrusmehta.com/2021/03/the-law-does-not-compel-the-impossible-or-does-it-matter-of-c-c-and-awuku-asare-v-garland.html
