As a premedical student, I wish to one day become a surgeon and come up with revolutionary procedures and treatments to better serve the needs of my patients. I deeply value empathy and compassion towards others and to fulfill my life, I want to devote it to serving others. I am innately a hardworking leader, and I want to help others achieve a happy and healthy life. I have a promise to myself that I will leave a positive mark on this world.

Ever since I was a young kid, I faced gender dysphoria on the daily. I never felt right in my body and hated trying to be a girl that I wasn't. I always wanted to be one of the boys and be seen as one of them, yet for years and years I never advocated for myself. Instead, I hid my identity from myself and others and in doing that, I always felt like an outsider. I couldn't connect with my female friends because my interests and personality never matched with their's. I never really blended in well with them because I always refused to adopt the trends and had my own style. Although following my individuality to some extent made me feel good, I felt that what I was displaying was just the tip of the iceberg. Part of self expression includes being comfortable in your own skin, and having people recognize you the way that you want, yet I was far from that. I finally medically and socially transitioned shortly after beginning college. As a transgender man, even though my life has never been easy, I am proudly a strong self-made man. I have resilience that allows me to overcome anything that comes in my way. I have faced severe depression in the past, but as a result, I had achieved deep thinking that transformed my life. I did soul searching and figured out what I need to feel fulfilled and what my values are as a person. I am fascinated by biology in totality, and specifically, I want to dedicate my life to learning about human anatomy and physiology. I began seeing life through a different lens, a lens by which I recognize all of the miracles that I am surrounded by. This allowed for me to feel more in tune with nature and appreciate all forms of life, no matter how big or small. I have a bounding curiosity when it comes to anything biology related, but medicine is where my heart has always been set at. By learning the ins and outs in the medical field, I will be able to come up with new strategies and techniques to help others that face similar situations to me. To feel fulfilled, I need to be the best doctor I can be for my patients by coming up with new techniques and procedures to help them lead a happy and healthy life. In order to reach my goals of becoming a compassionate and empathetic doctor, I need to first get my bachelors degree and move on to medical school. I am about to graduate with this degree with only three years of college under my belt, and have done so upholding a 4.0 average. Even though it appears that everything is going to go smoothly as I transition to graduate school, I am very concerned about the financial burden that it will bring. Medical school is very expensive, and I used every penny saved to complete my undergraduate education. Receiving this scholarship would mean so much to me because it would help to pay for my education which is a stepping stone to my future. I would be so thankful to receive any financial assistance and would be sure to put it to good use by working hard to be the best of the best.
