Women deserve the world, and I hope to help them find their best world. The mental health of women, especially in relation to self confidence, is unfortunately low. Through my experience and career dream, I hope to build upon the foundation of women's empowerment and help gift it to the women that need it.
Since I took Stem I Foundation Honors my Sophomore year at Central Magnet School, I–Danica Trussell–fell in love with the idea of a psychology based career for my future. I adore the idea of the brain’s inner workings and the effects that the brain can develop from ADHD, trauma responses, and more. The brain itself is a massive puzzle that I hope to help untangle after I graduate high school this year and begin to make my way into college. This career has a lot of potential to help all kinds of people in their life journeys, including women.
I hope to support women’s empowerment as I have had trouble with it myself and only within the past year have felt comfortable in my own skin. I plan to try to make my way into the psychology field first, then take the information I learn and turn it into opportunities to help empower my fellow women. By understanding the connections to the brain that can cause the lack of such empowerment, I believe that I can share ways to overcome such barriers. If I am able to get into some form of formal one-on-one counseling, I may even be able to directly assist some women in their journeys of self growth to the empowerment that so many women–cis and trans women alike–hope to reach. My hope is that through the sharing of pivotal information and ideas, more women will be able to be empowered in the ways they deserve, no matter the barriers in place. All women deserve empowerment. Such strategies may be the best method I can offer to help as far as I know at the moment.
To me, this is a feasible goal even though it would require a lot of time and effort, yet this time will be used to better the mentality of all women to my best ability. With the world having suppressed our gender physically and psychologically for so long, it is my hope that many opportunities will bring us past this barrier. The future will involve women in more ways than we can imagine and with the emplacement of the right kind of stepping stones, the mentality of women has hope to improve. The world needs to know how important we are, yet this acknowledgement must first come from within each woman who needs it.
