Education is my beacon of hope. It is more than just acquiring knowledge - it is me and my family's key to breaking cycles of hardship and poverty. Coming from a background where stability was not always guaranteed, I have learned that your education is the one thing that can't be taken away from me. For me, it has become a source of strength and tool for a better future - not just for myself, but for my family and the generations who will come after me. Through education, I have gained wisdom and the mindset to dream beyond my circumstances. It's shown me that I can achieve excellence no matter where I come from, and I will use that as an opportunity to lead others. When I reflect on what I want to be known for when my career is over, I envision leaving a legacy of resilience, courage, and service. My personal brand stands as a symbol of empowerment that's dedicated to uplifting others and inspiring them to reach their full potential. With a passion for both technology and real estate, I am committed to harnessing my knowledge and business-mind to create meaningful change and build communities. The world of technology captivates me with its limitless opportunities to solve pressing global issues at hand. I envision myself contributing to technological advancements that promote sustainability, enhance everyday life, and uplift underrepresented communities. In tandem, my real estate career is where I will be able to promote equitable housing and make sure everyone has a place to call home. One of my long-term goals is to open a brokerage, hiring a team of minority agents to help them thrive and be role models for those coming up after them. I believe that success is not just measured by personal achievements, which is why a priority of mine is bringing others with me as I rise. Success is reflected in the lives we touch, which is why I am so committed to providing representation for the generations that came before me, and those that will come after me. By establishing mentorship programs, hosting workshops, seminars, and fostering inclusive spaces, I will nurture the next innovators and visionaries. Furthermore, I am and will continue to be a strong advocate for financial literacy and STEM education for people of all ages and backgrounds. Knowledge is power, and empowering communities with the tools to properly manage their finances and learn about STEM to prevent being behind can break cycles of poverty and open a new world of opportunities. During my career, and even after it’s over, I will collaborate with schools and charities to help bring education and empowerment to all. Beyond financial support, this scholarship represents belief - belief in the potential within me and the impact I am destined to create. I want to be remembered as a leader who went after her goals and illuminated paths for others to be able to do the same. As I stand on the threshold of adulthood, I do so with immense gratitude and determination. Without your support, I will not be able to get the college education that will be a huge stepping stone in these goals. So together, we can build a legacy and write a story of perseverance, purpose, and boundless opportunity, and you will see the results through the lives I will change. Join me in leaving this footprint. Thank you for your consideration and investment in not just me, but in the lives of those who will come after me. Let's create that legacy together. God bless you.
Children of Divorce: Lend Your Voices Scholarship
I was a three year old girl when my parents divorced, when my world shifted in ways I couldn't yet comprehend. Though I was too young to fully grasp what their separation meant or the significance of it, the ripples of it stretched far beyond my small childhood, shaping my understanding of love over the years, my resilience, and my identity. The most immediate impact was the sense of instability after, which I'm sure every child of divorce can relate to. Unlike many other children who found solace in the consistency and love of one home, I lived between two. Each transition - every other day from one house to another, one routine to the next, holidays becoming negotiations instead of celebrations - left me feeling unanchored and confused. I was a wanderer in search of belonging. It required a lot of adaptability, but it also planted in me a quiet longing for permanence, a place to call mine. Emotionally, their separation carved a deep impression in me. Even though I learned that their separation had nothing to with me, for all of those years there was the lingering question of whether I had been enough - enough to keep them together, enough to keep my father from being unfaithful - echoed in my thoughts. This silent doubt I dealt with all the way into my early-mid teens shaped my interactions with most other people, being afraid to lose them or so afraid that I would do something to tarnish whatever relationship I had with them. Beyond this - and probably the most impactful of them all - my father's absence left a wound that I still work hard to heal everyday. At first, I'd go days without seeing or speaking to him. Days turned into weeks as there were times when he wouldn't want to watch after me, and then months. Then years passed without seeing his face. The promised visits became fewer, and the phone calls became more sporadic until they disappeared completely. I had to learn to stop expecting him to show up, to stop crying at night when he'd disappoint me yet again. The concept of a father became more of an idea than a reality, and that shaped how I viewed guys, relationships, and my own self-worth. His absence left me craving male validation, a desire I didn't fully understand until recently. With the foundation of a father's love missing, I found myself seeking that "love" elsewhere, in places that left me heartbroken and emptier than before. I looked for reassurance in the way guys spoke to me, in how they viewed me, and in the attention they gave me. In my early-mid teens, I built my worth around how they perceived me, searching for something to fill the void my father left. Over time, after a few experiences, I recognized that validation from others is fleeting and would only leave me in a constant cycle of heartbreak. The more I chased validation, the more I realized no amount of external approval would heal the wounds that only self-love, self-acceptance, and seeing myself in the eyes of God could mend. But life has a way of developing our character by allowing us to go through losses. I learned that even in the midst of lost, there is room for growth. My parents' breakup required me to mature quickly, to find resilience in uncertainty and peace in solitude. I became independent out of necessity, learning how to be my own source of comfort. While this independence felt like a shield at first, it has become my source of power - a power that allows me to stand firm even when the ground beneath me is shaken. Their separation was not an end, but a beginning. It displayed the rawness of human relationships, the courage to walk away when something no longer serves you, and the strength required to start over and rebuild. I saw resilience embodied as I watched my mother persevere through the challenges of single motherhood. She carried burdens I didn't fully understand, she loved fiercely, and it is her strength that became the foundation upon which I am building my own. Today, at seventeen years old, I no longer see breakups as tragedies; they are a lesson in love's complexity and the strength it takes to let go and choose better for yourself. Diversity is not an anchor, it's a launching pad. So, while I still carry early echoes of that pain, I also carry the fire and wisdom it ignited within me, preparing me for my next chapter of life as I stand on the threshold of adulthood.
      Lyndsey Scott Coding+ Scholarship
Throughout my academic journey, I have always held myself to a high standard and strived for excellence, pushing myself to exceed expectations. As a high school student enrolled in all honors and AP classes, and have been since freshman year, I have committed myself to maintaining an exemplary record while balancing a personal life and staying committed to other things that mean a lot to me, such as volunteering. Because of this, over the past two years I have been able to accumulate over seventy volunteer hours by helping non-profit organizations, working with children and refugees, engaging in church events, and helping at women's and black history events. My dedication has also allowed me to graduate a year early, and simultaneously pursue my associate's degree in computer science. Now, as I prepare to attend Arizona State University in the fall to go after my BS in computer science, I am thrilled and grateful to take the next step into a foundation for my professional goals! My passion technology has driven me toward wanting to pursue a career in software development, where I still want to make a positive impact by finding innovative solutions to air pollution, and move towards cleaner, better quality air. As a young black female, I also aim to promote diversity in the STEM field. However, I want to be multi-faceted and impact people's lives in more ways than one, and I also have a passion for business and sales, which is why I will be working in real estate as well. I will get my real estate license in college to begin gaining experience in the industry earlier, providing me an advantage in the workforce after graduation. My long-term goal is to climb the real estate ladder and own a brokerage. Though it will be open to anyone, I desire to have a team of mostly underrepresented groups as agents, giving them opportunities to thrive in a world that is waiting to reject them, and to promote diversity in the real estate world. Knowledge is power, and empowering communities with the tools to properly manage their finances and learn about STEM can open a new world of opportunities. I am deeply committed to being a role model, and making sure I bring my people with me as I climb. I believe everyone should receive the chance to achieve greatness and success in whatever way that looks like for them. My success would not just be my own - I'd share it with my family and other underrepresented. So, this scholarship would not only be a crucial step in relieving me and my family of financial stress and burden - it would be an investment. An investment in my education and professional goals (that will soon be a reality) that will uplift and make the presence of underrepresented communities in STEM and real estate respected and appreciated. Let's create a legacy together. Thank you for this opportunity. God bless you.
      Empowering Black Women in Tech
Ever since I was younger, I’ve been captivated by the magic of how things work and the way ideas form into tangible creations. Technology is more than just a field to me, but it is my passion, creative outlet, and my beacon of hope for a better future. Growing up in Louisiana, I faced numerous challenges including financial instability that led to homelessness. Despite these hardships, my interest in learning technology has remained unwavering. This relentlessness is the foundation of my decision to pursue a bachelor's degree in computer science. However, my high school journey has been one of growth and patience. In October of 2024, a classmate of mine made a racial comment that left me deeply offended and disturbed, and I remember it like it was yesterday. It was during algebra class, and as I was taking notes, I was tapped on the shoulder, and to my surprise when I turned around, I was met with the question, "How many times a day do you say the n-word?" As if this wasn't enough, this same classmate proceeded to hand me a calculator with the n-word spelled out on the little screen. I immediately took it to the dean, as incidents like this have become normal at my predominantly white school. However, I have taken numerous actions to speak up about it and amplify the voices of other minority students who have faced racism or any kind of discrimination at our campus. Facing numerous incidents like the one above has only motivated me even more to excel. I am a dedicated student enrolled in all honors and AP classes, graduating high school one year early (May 2025). As I reflect on my achievements and think about my future, however, I can't help but admire the beauty, power, and resilience of black women as we continue to rise above and grow from these challenges that are thrown at us. This has become woven into my identity, and has also shown me the importance of diversity in the white-and-male-dominated tech industry. In my career as a software engineer, I envision not only bringing numerous innovative creations to enhance people's lives and provide us with a greener planet, but also creating ethical solutions to protect privacy and enhance data security. Ensuring that no one is left behind and that these innovations benefit everyone - not just the privileged - is a priority of mine. As someone who has been apart of the robotics team for my school for 3 years, and has had to face the ignorant comments/behaviors of teammates and being overlooked, I understand the power of representation. The tech industry will thrive when voices from different backgrounds contribute to innovation. A diverse workplace fuels creativity, productivity, and drives meaningful change. Ultimately, it empowers older and newer generations of black visionaries to go after their goals, no matter what the space looks like. I am deeply committed to being a role model, and making sure I bring my people with me as I climb. I believe everyone should receive the chance to achieve greatness and success in whatever way that looks like for them. My success would not just be my own - I'd share it with my family and my underrepresented sisters. My long-term goal is to start a foundation for young black women interested in STEM and business. I will host seminars, career workshops, provide STEM education, and host networking events to provide them with career building opportunities. It's about choosing to take others with you and create opportunities for those who will come after you so they can know "I can do that too, I can have that too." It means not keeping my knowledge and experience to myself, but using it to mentor and uplift young women all around me, ensuring that no one's potential goes unnoticed because of their background. My mission is to open doors for those coming up with me, and those coming after me. So, this scholarship is not just crucial in me being able to pursue higher education and relieve my family of financial burdens - but it's an investment. An investment in me and the lives I am destined to impact. I know I can make this vision a reality - not just for me, but for the rest who want to blaze their own paths. Join me, and let's create a legacy together. Thank you for your time, consideration, and for the opportunity. God bless you.
Monroe Justice and Equality Memorial Scholarship
Throughout history, the relationship between the African American community and law enforcement has been marred by systemic injustice, racial profiling, and police brutality. To truly foster and create a just society where the black community can trust them, law enforcement must sincerely reconsider if they apply their values to everyone, and they must also move beyond standard, performative measures a make commitments to change. Law enforcement must recognize that reform is not an option, but a necessity. Implicit bias training shouldn't just be a checkbox for someone to get the job; it should be an immersive, ongoing training style that addresses deep-rooted prejudices. Officers could be equipped with de-escalation tactics that prioritize human life and condition, and body cameras should also be mandated to ensure accountability on both sides. Furthermore, it's important that police forces reflect the diversity of the communities they serve, as it would help alleviate the "us vs. them" mentality many officers and citizens have. Beyond that, true healing begins with community engagement. Law enforcement can shift from being viewed as an occupying force to a part of the communities they protect. This is possible through mentorship, hosting open forums, and participating in initiatives that engage and uplift the African American community. Furthermore, law enforcement agencies partnering with schools, community-led organizations, and social services to educate people on the root causes of crime is a stepping stone in the right direction. Investing in education and mental health support can reduce crime rates without the need for policing. By prioritizing prevention over punishment, law enforcement can foster safer communities and a sense of security and stability in the African American community. However, it must be said that engagement is meaningless without accountability. Independent oversight committees must be able to investigate any misconduct and abuse of power, and enforce consequences. Eliminating policies that shield officers from accountability or consequences, such as qualified immunity in cases of excess force, will be great progress in this journey and demonstrate genuine commitment. Transparency should not be feared in law enforcement; it should be embraced as a path to trust. Ultimately, repairing the relationship is beyond making policy changes - it's about creating a cultural shift. A shift that prioritizes safety and humanity over power, and justice over tradition. It is only through the unwavering commitment that we can forge a future where everyone feels safe and protected - without race being a factor. As an African American myself, this matter is something I take very seriously and am passionate about. I believe that with accountability and true commitment, we can grow to trust our officers, and they can grow to trust us so that we may repair this tainted relationship and develop safer communities. Thank you for your time, consideration, and support. God bless you.

Adversity is not a curse; it's a sculptor designed to unveil your strength within. My journey has been one of resilience, embracing my struggles and past, developing unwavering faith. There was a time when my family had no house, and the cold walls of our car was our home, and my lullaby was the hum of passing traffic. I got ready for school in the nearby Planet Fitness, and everyday at school, I thought about how all the other children had homes and beds to go to - and there I was. There have been other times where we've gone without a house - from staying in hotels and AirBnb's, to living with my mother's parents for over a year. So, join me in building this legacy. Thank you for your time, consideration, and for this opportunity. God bless you.
      EJS Foundation Minority Scholarship
My high school journey has been one of growth, patience, and learning how to bring people together despite differences. Back in October of 2024, a classmate of mine made a racial comment that left me deeply offended and disturbed, and I remember it like it was yesterday. I chose not to respond despite how I felt in that moment, and instead, immediately took it to the dean. Incidents like this have become normal at my predominantly white, Mormon school. However, I do not stand for it, and have taken numerous actions to speak up about it, and amplify the voices of other minority students who have faced racism or any kind of discrimination at our campus. Facing numerous incidents like the one above has only motivated me even more to excel, and has helped me uncover a passion of mine. I am a dedicated student enrolled in all honors and AP classes, graduating high school one year early (May 2025), and am currently pursuing my Associate's degree in computer science. In fall of 2025, I am deeply grateful and excited to be attending Arizona State University to pursue my Bachelor's in computer science! Although my primary field will be in tech, I will remain deeply committed to one of my true passions - bringing others minority groups with me as I rise. In my career as a software engineer, I will not only bring numerous innovative creations to enhance people's lives and provide us with a greener planet, but I will also gladly serve as a role model for older and younger minorities with big dreams. In addition to technology, my other passion - real estate - is where I aspire to thrive, champion equitable housing, and help build communities by selling people their dream homes. My long-term goal is to climb the real estate ladder and open my own brokerage with a team of underrepresented agents as a way to lift all of us up, and show others in those marginalized groups that they, too, can achieve success in whatever way that looks like for them. I believe that everyone should have the chance to succeed and build a future for themselves, so by creating my own foundation one day that will host seminars and STEM/business workshops, teach financial literacy, and provide career opportunities through networking events, I aim to nurture and uplift the next generation of visionaries by granting them access to opportunities that may not be available otherwise. The EJS scholarship will play a crucial and pivotal role in my college journey. It will provide me and my family with relief from the extreme financial burden of tuition and materials, allowing me to focus on my academic and professional goals that will one day be a reality. But beyond that, this scholarship is an investment - an investment in my limitless potential and the impact I will create on the lives of those who will come after me. Together, we can build a story of empowerment and hope - a story that will echo through the lives we can change. So, join me and let's create that legacy together. Thank you for this opportunity and for your time. God bless you.

In the symphony of life, music has been constant for me. It's guided me through the highs and lows of my high school years, and it is not merely an art form to me - it's a source of strength and peace throughout the day, it's a language that verbalizes how I'm feeling when I can't, and it reflects my innermost self - who I know I am and what my vibe is. As I stand on the threshold of adulthood, I look back and realize that music has not only been a big part of my adolescence, but a transformative force that has helped shape who I am, my taste in many other things, and my understanding of the world. In high school, music became my escape. From the end of my freshman year to the middle of my junior/senior year (I'm an early graduate), my family and I had to move into a a single room in an AirBnB, and it was hard to handle at times. I love my family and appreciate the bonding we had through that experience, but I missed my room, I missed my solitude at times, I missed my own space and peace. Music was my anchor, pulling me back to myself when I felt overwhelmed, agitated, or just needed a minute to enjoy something of my own in a room where I now shared everything. I found solace in lyrics that spoke to the parts of me I had yet to understand as I was navigating growing up with hardly any room or quiet lasting long enough to be to my thoughts. Artists like Frank Ocean, Miguel, and Kendrick Lamar became my companions during late nights, when I laid on the black futon (my bed at the time) in the room. Their hype or soulful tunes created an environment of peace, growth, and contemplation. With every song, I uncovered a new layer of myself, learning that strength and vulnerability can exist in harmony. Music has also been a bridge to understanding the world around me. I learned to appreciate the richness of human experience from Kaytranada, Victoria Monèt, and TianaMajor9. They opened my ears to blends of jazz, r&b, soul, and hip-hop. I also enjoy venturing into music from people of other cultures such as Spawnbreezie's reggae, Tyla's South African beats, and Becky G's Spanish lyrics. This cross-cultural exchange in music has mirrored my own real-life experiences when I encounter people from all walks of life. I began seeing the world not as a series of separate stories, but an intricate web where everyone's experiences, cultures, and backgrounds form one larger, beautiful melody. This has helped me pursue leadership roles in various organizations, such as National Honor Society as secretary, and being lead programmer on the Robotics team. As I prepare to take the next step in my academic and personal journey, I carry the lessons of music with me. It has taught me to embrace vulnerability, accept change, and celebrate the beauty of diversity. Music has provided the score by which I navigate the movements in the ups and down of high school. It has shaped who I am right now: a young lady who listens with empathy, speaks her mind, values independence and peace but also collaboration, and above all - takes every moment as an opportunity to grow, and for that, I will be forever grateful.

Living with asthma has been both challenging and motivating in my life. I often found it to be frustrating, but I've been able to learn the importance of resilience, adaptability, and self-awareness. Asthma is more than just a medical condition - it's a reminder of my strength. When I was younger, asthma felt like a limitation, which is a feeling I still struggle with. For as long as I can remember, simple activities like running with friends, jumping, and trying to participate in sports was extremely difficult, and I eventually had to stop doing a lot of things all together. I remember the frustration and sadness that came with sitting out at recess, watching everyone else move freely without any consequences. One painful moment occurred just a few years ago, when I had to quit volleyball because the physical demands were too much on a daily basis for my condition. Walking away from that - and many others things that I enjoyed and would've like to do - hurt, but it taught me how to prioritize my health, and helped me find peace in calmer activities. In these moments of restriction, I discovered the power of perseverance and preparation. I learned how to balance my well-being with my hobbies and ambitions, listen to my body and better treat my asthma when it flares up, and push forward. I channeled my energy into my academics and setting up a successful future for myself. The discipline my condition has taught me helped shape my approach to schoolwork and almost every other area of my life. Despite the unpredictability of asthma, I refused to let it hinder my goals. I'm enrolled in all honors and AP classes, and am graduating from high school a year early while earning my associate's degree - accomplishments that required focus and unyielding drive. But asthma didn't just help shape my work ethic - it helped shape my professional goals. This fall, I will be attending Arizona State University to get my BS in computer science to go into a field where I aspire to develop tools that make managing chronic conditions easier. However, my aspirations don't just end at tech. I plan to obtain my real estate license while in college, and my long-term goal is to work my way up and own a brokerage with a team of underrepresented, minority agents. While I know that this seems ambitious to some, dealing with asthma for my whole life has taught me how to manage challenges without losing my original focus. Living with this condition has also deepened my empathy and strengthened my desire to to encourage others, as I understand what it's like to feel held back by a circumstance that is beyond your control. Because of this, I want to create opportunities for people to thrive no matter the challenges they face. Asthma has been a challenge for me, but it has never defined my vision or potential. With the support of the scholarship, I know I can get the education I need to make these goals a reality. I am ready to take every breath with purpose and bring others with me as I rise. So, let's create a legacy together. Thank you for your time and consideration.
      Empower Her Scholarship
To me, empowerment is more than just strength; it is the courage to dream beyond limits and bring others with us as we rise. As a young lady of color, I've also learned that it's the quiet resilience of pushing forward even when the odds are against you, and allowing your voice to be bold even when the world will try to silence it. Empowerment has been my fuel, giving me the confidence to excel academically by being enrolled in all honors and AP classes, and graduating high school a year early while simultaneously earning my associate's degree. It's driven me to pursue my BS in computer science at Arizona State University this fall, breaking into a field where diversity is needed. Empowerment has also inspired me to go after my other passion and set my future up even more by pursuing real estate alongside STEM. My long-term goal is to become a luxury realtor, and open my own brokerage with a team of underrepresented, minority agents. And finally, my ultimate goal in doing all of this is to be an example and inspiration for others to see what's possible - that is empowerment. It is not just about personal achievement - it's choosing to take others with you and create opportunities for those who will come after you so they can know that they can know "I can do that too, I can have that too." It means not keeping my knowledge and experience to myself, but using it to mentor and uplift young women all around me, ensuring that no one's potential goes unnoticed because of their background. My mission is to open doors for those coming up with me, and those coming after me, proving that with the right mindset, dedication, and through maintaining your morality and standards, no dream is out of reach. Empowerment is the legacy I aim to build. It's in the example I set and the voices I will help amplify. It's the torch I will pass, and with the support of this scholarship, I know I can make this vision a reality - not just for me, but for the rest who want to blaze their own paths. This scholarship is not only crucial to me getting an education, but it's an investment in my future and the futures of generations to come. So join me, and let's create a legacy together. Thank you for your time and consideration for this scholarship.

Throughout my academic journey, I have always held myself to a higher standard and strived for excellence, pushing myself to exceed expectations (even my own). Now, as I prepare to attend Arizona State University in the fall to go after my BS in computer science, I am thrilled and grateful to take the next step! My interest in technology has driven me toward wanting to pursue a career in software development, where I still want to make a positive impact by finding innovative solutions to air pollution, and move towards cleaner, better quality air. I am deeply committed to being a role model, and making sure I bring my people with me as I climb. I believe everyone should receive the chance to achieve greatness and success in whatever way that looks like for them. My success would not just be my own - I'd share it with my family and my community. So, my charity of choice would be called the Aspire Foundation, and my mission would be to empower young minority women through mentorship and education, helping them achieve their dreams and their fullest potential. We'd serve underrepresented high school and college girls who are aspiring to enter the business, real estate, or technology industry. We'd offer mentor programs that help with personal development and mindset shifting, college applications, and career planning. There would also be workshops that have business, real estate, or tech training (seminars included) and teach financial literacy. The last thing I'd love to offer are networking events so the girls can get connected and find internships, jobs, and connections. This scholarship would not only be a crucial step in relieving me and my family of financial stress and burden - it would be an investment. So, I invite you to join the movement. Let's create a legacy together. Thank you for this opportunity.

Heron Wolf Commercial Real Estate Scholarship
My name is Danaila George, I'm seventeen years old, and I'm a dedicated student who believes in the importance of character development, who practices this everyday to become the best version of myself. When I think about my future in commercial real estate, I see more than selling and just business transactions - I see the opportunity to help create new communities, opportunities, and leave lasting impacts. My drive to pursue real estate comes from a deep interest in how a space can influence a person's mind, and how development can foster growth. Without a doubt, my mother has been the most influential person in my life, helping shape not only my character and who I am, but my professional goals. When I was smaller, she was a single parent, and even now with her being married, I have been a witness to her struggles over the years. But watching her surmount those obstacles with grace and determination has taught me the importance of perseverance, going after what I want, and making sure my work has meaning. Her actions have shown me what it means to invest in your goals, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. Through her example, I've been able to see that success isn't just about personal achievement, but about lifting others up with you as you rise, and laying down solid foundations for those who will come after you. Beyond lifting a huge financial burden - having the honor of receiving this scholarship would be a crucial step toward achieving my long-term goal of building a career in commercial real estate, and engaging in meaningful projects for my community. Especially as an underrepresented black female, I want to create spaces that create economic growth and foster connection. I want to make an impact in this industry by closing on meaningful deals that are models of equitable development and innovative solutions. I aim to approach my career with the same perseverance, grace, integrity, and dedication my mother has had. I'm not just asking for help - I'm asking for a partnership. I seek this support because without it, I won't be able to achieve those goals and dreams. By providing this scholarship, you wouldn't just be supporting me - you'd be supporting my future, my family's future, my descendant's futures, and the future of every person who chooses to pursue commercial real estate after me. Let's create a legacy.
Scholarship Institute’s Annual Women’s Leadership Scholarship
As the oldest sibling, leadership is something I strive to be better at on a daily basis. Leadership can come in different forms, and look all kinds of ways. For example, with my little brother, I strive to help my parents in teaching him manners and right from wrong. I also know that I am someone he looks up to, so I have to be intentional about setting a good example for him. Of course, this isn't my only leadership role (although it is a big one), but I believe that leadership can look all kinds of ways, take on many forms, and if done how it's needed, can leave a positive impact on people. A big leadership role that I took on was becoming lead programmer on my school's JV Robotics team. As a programmer, it's my responsibility to code the team's robot, and as lead programmer, I also train and mentor newcomers. It gets challenging at times, but I am grateful for the opportunity to help and guide others to be better. One new girl on the team is quite shy and reserved, so I invite her to movie nights with my friends, speak to her in the school halls, and let her shadow me to see how I move around in the lab and interact with everyone, to make her more comfortable and let her know that she has a friend and can be herself. There a a few other ladies on the team that I reach out to and goof around with to foster a closer friendship and a comfortable feel in the lab, especially on a team with mostly boys. I also like to guide any newcomers through problems, from big to small ones, teaching them how to communicate and work with a team full of minds who think differently from their own, so that we can be in sync and perform our best. Another part of leadership that I put into practice daily is going the extra mile to help out and show kindness, whether thats to my parents, teachers, janitors, etc. The acts of kindness spread and put others in a good mood, and encourages other students to do the same thing. I like to set examples by not engaging in gossip, letting the teacher know through subtle head nods that I'm listening even if the rest of the class is talking, picking up mine and others' trash, and many other ways. My long-term goal is to become a software engineer, and as a female of color, I aim to promote diversity in the STEM field, so that everyone is represented and feels welcome in any space that they want to branch into. I am not perfect by any means, but I believe in doing good to promote good. Whether it's in a big role or a small one, the impact being a leader can have is everlasting.
JJ Savaunt's Women In STEM Scholarship
I come from a Christian background, and grew up going to church, so it's easy for me to say that I believe in God. However, in more recent years, as I've been faced with many trials, tests (personal, not academic), and struggles, it is there where I have developed a true relationship with God, and have made the choice to actually get to know Him and spend time with Him. I am a firm believer in the fact that there is a difference between religion, and having a relationship with God. I've faced some of the lowest of low times, but was always brought through it. That is how I know that God is real, and there is only one mighty one. I've had many accomplishments and happiest of happy times, which I'm grateful for, but always felt this void that not even worldly things can fill. That is how I know that Earth is our temporary assignment, and Heaven is our home. When I bawl and cry out to God, He is already there, waiting to take care of it. He has pulled me through countless (literally countless) situations where my strength ran out. He says I don't have to be strong, because He is. If He were not real, we would all be damned, dead, and going to hell. It is not by coincidence that we get to live happy and free if we choose, it is not a coincidence that humanity is still here. It is all because God loves us so much, that He sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sin that He knew we'd commit, so that we could have eternal life and be saved. Humans would not be able to function by ourselves, so I know that it is by His grace that we live free and that we are loved. Many people spend a lot of their lives trying to find their "purpose", and they make that purpose a certain career, a marriage, even children. And while all of those things are blessings and things to be grateful for and excited about, none of those things are fulfilling to your very core, and when you die, it's all gone, and because you have left Earth, where do you go? Everything, and I mean everything, we do on this planet is temporary. Our purpose lies beyond the borders of the Earth, our purpose is in Heaven. The universe didn't just spawn out of thin air, something had to start and create it. God was always there, He is our creator, and at the end of our roads, we go back to our creator. It is not by coincidence that you got that dream job. It is not by coincidence that that money showed up in your bank account. It is not by coincidence that you overcame that depression. It is not by coincidence that you overcame that sickness, or that war hero returned home, or that you are here and healthy when doctors said you wouldn't make it. It is not by coincidence that you and I woke up today and get to smile after all of the mistakes that we've made. God is the way, the truth, and the life, who's love and grace is the reason we are still here, and why we get through every single struggle and come out better.
      Eco-Warrior Scholarship
In a world of rapid industrial growth, I have always believed in doing my part to contribute to a cleaner environment. Hiking and biking in the Arizona mountains with my family allowed me to witness the beauty of untouched landscapes, cultivating a deeper appreciation for the natural world. From being so involved with nature from a young age sparked a love for it, and a desire to create a healthier, more equitable world. One of the most impactful ways I am living sustainably is through conscious consumption. Being mindful of what I buy, and opting for eco-friendly products, or products made from sustainable materials, are a few things that I am intentional about doing, and encourage others to do as well. Shopping locally and supporting businesses that prioritize sustainability are also things that I put into practice weekly. Energy consumption is a major contributor to environmental decline. By making intentional choices to improve energy efficiency, carbon footprint can be reduced. I have LED lights installed in my bedroom, and my parents have also gone on this journey with me by insulating our home to reduce heating and cooling needs. And, instead of driving everywhere, I see better fit to walk or bike most days, and am saving to buy an electric vehicle for college. These modes of transportation greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing carbon footprint is crucial to the health and sustainability of our planet and future generations. Increased greenhouse gases trap heat in the Earth's atmosphere, leading to global warming. By reducing our carbon footprint, we would slow the rate of climate change and alleviate its impact. It would also help preserve the natural habitats that species depend on, humans and animals included, promoting biodiversity and a healthy ecosystem. Another important effect of reduction in carbon footprint is being able to ensure cleaner air by reducing our reliance on burning fossil fuels and CO2 emissions. Additionally, high carbon footprints correlate with overconsumption of natural resources. Reduction would encourage more efficient use of Earth's resources such as water, minerals, and forests are preserved, promoting sustainability. Living sustainably isn't just something I do in the present day, but something I want to carry with me into the future, which I'll be able to do even more so through my career as a software engineer. One of my goals in that career will be to advance and refine environmental sustainability through the use of technology. Minimizing resource consumption and increasing renewable energy through the development of systems/tech products is one way I will help in creating a cleaner home for us all. I'd also love to program and develop sensors of some kind that detect and measure air quality, that can be placed throughout a city or on a tower. Living sustainably, and finding ways to improve in that area, is a lifestyle for me. I encourage peers at my school, and others around my neighborhood to make simple choices and changes in their everyday lives to foster a green and clean environment for us all. I'm not a perfectly sustainable person yet, but as a 16 year old girl, I believe it's never too early to adapt and make healthy changes in your lifestyle to promote sustainability, and that is what I'm doing actively now, and work more towards every day.
"The Summer I Turned Pretty" Fan Scholarship
In Jenny Han's TV adaptation of 'The Summer I Turned Pretty', the love triangle between Isabelle (Belly) Conklin, and the Fisher brother's, Conrad and Jeremiah, is brought to life with a fresh perspective. The emotions and depth of the characters are explored, and audiences are captivated by the coastal aesthetics of the show. While the eldest brother, Conrad, is seen as the brooding and complex choice for Belly, Jeremiah stands out for his loyalty and genuine care for her. From the beginning, his connection with her is made apparent, which is why he is the most compelling choice. In the first episode, during the pool scene, Jeremiah's playful and famous golden retriever-like nature immediately sets a positive tone for their relationship. Conrad, on the other hand, is often cold and distant, leaving Belly to sometimes wonder if he even wants to be around her, which is a consistent theme throughout the show. With Jeremiah, Belly can feel lighter and at ease, and his love for her is something he constantly proves. With Conrad, she's left feeling belittled, confused, and too many negative emotions come with him to say that he's good for her. Jeremiah remains supportive and has unwavering loyalty towards Belly, and wants to see her thrive and pursue what makes her happy. This is proven during the beach volleyball game, where they played and won together, encouraged each other, and made each other feel confident. Even in the last episode of season 2, after her and Jere leave together, he cheers her on at her volleyball game. She feels supported, and is able to thrive and be in her element with him. In sharp contrast, Conrad gets jealous easily, and when he does, he begins mistreating her. In the first season, he ruins her first date, and teases her afterward, making her insecure. Someone who truly loves you wouldn't go out of their way to make you feel terrible, even if they don't approve of whatever it is you're doing. Jere's loyalty is also displayed when Belly starts seeing Conrad, and although he's jealous, he never mistreats or abandons her, which the same can't be said for Conrad. When he is jealous of Jere and Belly in the final episodes of the second season, he acts childish, cold, and intentionally ruins there time. Someone who loves you shows you that they love you, not just through words, but also through actions. Jeremiah consistently demonstrates maturity, selflessness, and a genuine love and care for Belly. No matter what he felt, he always wanted the best for her and he stayed true. It is hinted that Conrad and Belly share the deeper connection in the second season, but just because someone seems perfect for you, knows you the best, or has liked you longer, doesn't give them the right to mistreat you and it doesn't mean that you have to take their behavior. Belly seems to be constantly compromising for Conrad because of his lack of maturity, but she doesn't have to question Jeremiah or his love and dedication to her. Choosing Team Jeremiah is about recognizing the positive impacts Jeremiah had on Belly's life, and not ignoring Conrad's major red flags and negative affect on Belly because they seem to have a "deeper connection". Jere's consistent support makes Belly feel valued, proving that he's not just a best friend, but the perfect partner for Belly.
      Our Destiny Our Future Scholarship
Service and helping others in need has always been apart of me, something I love to do and am passionate about. I can remember being five years old and giving food to the homeless with my family. Growing up in a kind and giving family, and doing service from a young age has instilled those morals inside of me today. As someone who has also struggled at times in life, I understand and know what it's like, and it drives me to help out and make a good impact. As I transitioned into high school and joined National Honor Society, I've gotten the opportunity to extend my hand and promote a culture of service within my school and community. We've hosted blood drives and charity events for members of staff at our school. However, I've been able to make an impact outside of school by volunteering at breast cancer awareness events, domestic abuse events for women, and doing trash pick up days during the summer. Even with over 50 hours of volunteer service in the past year, my work does not end there. As the new secretary of the cabinet in NHS, I also aim to play a larger role in organizing and helping out with more events, such as "Feed My Starving Children", car washes, tutoring small children, volunteering at homeless shelters, etc. Through this, I hope to lead by example and encourage my peers to recognize the value of giving back, and going the extra mile to help someone and be kind. My goal to positively impact the world in the future will also happen through my career as a software engineer. In this field, I aim to enhance technology's ability to respond to human needs and carry out tasks through the bettering of artificial intelligence, which could also greatly benefit those with disabilities and special needs. As someone who is also passionate about keeping a clean earth, another way I will use my career as a software engineer will be to advance and refine environmental sustainability through the use of technology. I am invested in minimizing resource consumption and advancing renewable energy by developing systems that provide solutions to these problems to contribute to a cleaner Earth and environment. I believe that people, plants, and animals are all deserving of a green and clean home. I strive to be a blessing to others, whether through a simple act or a grand one.

Being an honors student with a 4.0 GPA, I have faced innumerable challenges, but have remained productive and dedicated to academic excellence, ongoing leadership development, and focusing on my long-term goals. This essay reflects my achievements, passion, leadership beyond school, and the impact I hope to make through the support of the scholarship. MY VISION My long-term goal is to become a software engineer. My ambitions for the future are as vast as the field I’m going into. This expansive field holds a lot of potential and room for new ideas and innovations. Priscilla Shireen Luke Scholarship
My love and dedication to give back is what inspired me to join the 4H club as a middle schooler and the National Honor Society today. In 4H, we'd go around cleaning up parts of town, and host holiday events for small businesses to market themselves. As I transitioned into high school and joined NHS, I've gotten the opportunity to extend my hand and promote a culture of service within my school and community. My passion for giving back has been with me from a very ripe age, and it hasn't left me since. I strive to be a blessing to others, whether through a simple act or a grand one.
Chris Jackson Computer Science Education Scholarship
For as long as I can remember, I've always had an interest in technology and how it operated behind the scenes, or how all of the new tech came to be. However, it was when I got on my high school's Robotics team and learned how to code when my curiosity and interest deepened, and I saw this as a career. I saw how things worked on the backend, and applying logic to practical and complex applications was fun for me! However, even though I'd already decided that this was what I wanted to do, what really drove me to pursue computer science was when my parents had a heart-to-heart with me one day, and told me that they couldn't afford to pay for my college education. I had seen my parent's struggle growing up, and it was hard for me. But when I realized I could do something about it, I became hopeful. I could use my brain to get myself through higher education without burdening my family. That's my motivation to learn everything I can in this field that I chose. My dream job after receiving my degree is to become a software engineer. I aim to contribute to a more innovative and advanced future by enhancing technology's ability to respond to human needs, and carry out tasks through the bettering of AI and machine learning. Another big goal of mine to advance environmental sustainability through the use of technology. For example, I'm invested in minimizing resource consumption and increasing renewable energy by developing systems that address these issues. Most of all, I want to be able to comfortably provide for my family and take care of them so that they never have to worry about money as much as they already have. I want to repay them for the endless sacrifices they've made, and continue to make. I feel that I'm the best candidate because my goals with this education will go far and have a profound impact on our environment, advance our society, and revolutionize how we interact with technology. As a first generation college student and female of color, this education will help me promote diversity in the STEM field, encouraging other underrepresented groups to pursue a career in computer science. With the support of this scholarship, I am confident that I will be able to achieve these goals and take care of my family.
      Zendaya Superfan Scholarship
Being Zendaya's #1 fan is more than just admiring a talented actress and singer; it's about being inspired by a young woman who embodies grace, intelligence, humility, and social responsibility. As I've watched her from the days of "Shake It Up", and from blasting the song "Replay" to now watching her in "Dune: Part 2" and HBO's acclaimed "Euphoria", I've gotten to grow up with her in a way. For me, her impact extends far beyond the screen. The aspect of her career that I admire most is her platform for advocacy. Zendaya has consistently leveraged her visibility and status to bring awareness to/speak out against racial injustice, body positivity, and gender equality. While most celebrity's avoid speaking on these topics, her courage to talk about these head on is both empowering and refreshing. She uses her platform to support marginalized communities, collaborates with organizations, and participates in campaigns, such as the Black Lives Matter movement. What stands out to me is her advocacy in her professional endeavors. Through her portrayal of Rue in HBO's "Euphoria", she dives into the gritty reality of addiction and mental health, not only showcasing her range, but brining much needed awareness to these stigmatized topics. In addition to this, in October of 2015, Zendaya famously called out Modeliste magazine for editing her body and face proportions on her cover, and even posted the real picture on her Instagram. She also defended makeup artist Shannon C. after someone shamed her for her bare-faced appearance. Advocating for transparency, self-love, and body positivity is important in the age of social media, especially for young girls all over. Furthermore, Zendaya's work in fashion serves as another powerful advocacy avenue. She promotes inclusivity and challenges traditional beauty standards by choosing to work with brands that promote diversity, and by not working with the brands that wanted nothing to do to her when she was starting out. In a recent podcast interview, her longtime stylist and friend, Law Roach, revealed that to this day, Zendaya still has not worn Chanel, Gucci, Dior, and etc. due to them all rejecting her in her early years or not being inclusive. As a young woman of color, her dedication to representation and not adhering to traditional standards/customs is personal to me. Zendaya encourages young women, especially women of color, to embrace their beauty and strength. To conclude, Zendaya's advocacy for social justice is the most admirable part of her career. She exemplifies how a public figure can transcend their achievements and platform to become a catalyst for positive change. Being a young girl of color myself, who is navigating a world still full of inequalities, seeing someone of Zendaya's stature consistently demand and create change is incredibly empowering.
      Elevate Women in Technology Scholarship
One technology that inspires me profoundly, is the advent of telecommuting platforms. Telecommuting, facilitated by modern technologies such as cloud computing, high-speed internet, and tools like Zoom, Google Workspace, and Slack has transformed the way we (society) work. Especially before Covid, the traditional office-centric work life with rigid schedules and mandatory physical presence, has often put people at a disadvantage. This is true especially for women with caregiving/domestic roles, who because of this, were forced to "choose" between their careers and families. Telecommuting technology addresses this issue by giving everyone the flexibility needed to balance their personal and professional lives more effectively. Today, it's no issue for anyone to be able to maintain careers without compromising on personal commitments. Telecommuting also breaks down geographical barriers, allowing more people from all over more access to opportunities. This contributes to a more diverse workspace, global collaboration, and innovation. In addition, the environmental impact is much lower. By reducing the need for daily commutes, greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution are both significantly decreased, allowing for improved air quality and reduction in carbon footprint. Furthermore, the rise of telecommuting has increased the adoption of digital skills, prompting more women to pursue careers in technology. The demand for tech savvy employees grows. Because of this, there is a surge in women enrolling in coding bootcamps, online courses, and tech-education programs, further bridging the gender gap in the tech industry. Studies have shown that telecommuting can also lead to higher productivity, compared to working in a traditional office setting. The comfort of a personalized work space can enhance employee performance and efficiency. To conclude, telecommuting as a technology stands out to me as a transformative force that has revolutionized the world. By offering flexibility, balance, accessibility, and a positive environmental impact, it empowers everyone, especially women, to pursue their professional goals without sacrificing their personal lives/responsibilities. These adjustments foster a more fulfilled society and a cleaner planet.
