Bio

Hey! I'm Daliana Baret. Some personal goals are building my relationship with God, reading more, getting my driver's license, and even just prioritizing myself by remaining still to give myself time to rest my mind. Some professional goals I have are getting accepted to my top colleges, receiving scholarships, getting admitted into a nursing program to pursue my career, and of course, becoming a labor and delivery nurse that I’ve always wanted to be. I have the privilege to get accepted into amazing schools due to my academics. My dream school is St. John's University, following my other interests.

      Marcus Stroman Scholarship
Located in the heart of New York City, St. John's University is a shining example of academic greatness. It fosters a community where tradition coexists with innovation and knowledge meets compassion. As a prospective student imagining my academic path, St. John's University stands out as the ideal location, representing principles that deeply align with my goals and beliefs. The core of St. John's University is its dedication to comprehensive learning, which includes logical as well as moral and personal development. The institution encourages students to become global citizens committed to serving others by instilling in them a sense of social responsibility and empathy, which is rooted in the rich tradition of Vincentian principles. This mentality is extremely aligned with my values, as I strive to improve the world around me in addition to achieving academic success. St. John's University provides a wide range of academic programs that include multiple disciplines, guaranteeing a broad and collaborative approach to education. Whether they specialize in business, law, the sciences, or the humanities, the university's distinguished faculty members—known for their knowledge and commitment—create an atmosphere that encourages academic study and creative thinking. Furthermore, St. John's STEM program is simply outstanding; it offers state-of-the-art tools, practical research experiences, and creative teaching strategies that prepare learners for success in quickly developing fields. One thing about St. John's University that appeals to me is the chance to pursue challenging academic endeavors with classmates who share my enthusiasm for learning, especially within such an incredible STEM department. Furthermore, the university's focus on hands-on learning and experiential application of information gives students priceless chances to apply classroom theories to real-world problems. Students at St. John's University have the opportunity to develop their passions, perfect their talents, and make significant contributions to their fields of study through research projects, internships, and collaboration. For my part, I'm thrilled to be a member of the honors program as well, where I can enhance my academic experience even more with rigorous homework, focused seminars, and engaging debates. Beyond its academic programs, St. John's University is proud of its active and welcoming campus community, which is distinguished by its variety, friendship, and collaborative spirit. There are numerous options for developing yourself personally, becoming a leader, and making significant relationships, from student-led clubs and groups to cultural events and community service projects. I am excited and looking forward to the possibility of completely involving myself in such a vibrant and encouraging group, where I may pick up knowledge from people with different experiences and viewpoints. In addition, the university's ideal position in New York City—a major center of innovation, trade, and culture worldwide—offers unmatched chances for education and development. Through a wide range of resources and experiences that enhance their educational journey and equip them for success in an increasingly interconnected world, St. John's University offers students access to a wealth of opportunities, including networking events with industry leaders, cultural excursions to top-notch museums and theaters, study abroad programs, and internships at Fortune 500 companies. However there are unique difficulties in pursuing higher education as a low-income Hispanic student. Tuition, fees, and living expenses can feel like an overwhelming financial load, which clouds one's ability to pursue academic goals. This is where the possibility of being awarded a scholarship to St. John's University has the potential to be extremely life-changing. The scholarship would relieve the financial burden, allowing me to pursue my academic and professional goals without excessive difficulty and enabling me to serve as an inspiration to those in similar situations. Being a first-generation college student, I can speak to the significant impact that mentorship and educational opportunities can have on a person's life path. In addition to realizing my own goals of attending St. John's University on a scholarship, I would also be encouraging and enabling the next generation of Hispanic students to follow their passions and overcome challenges in their pursuit of higher education. To sum up, St. John's University embodies the principles of social responsibility, moral leadership, and academic brilliance, all of which are quite similar to my own beliefs and goals. It is the university of my dreams, where I will succeed intellectually, personally, and professionally. Its dedication to a complete educational experience, diverse academic programs, active campus community, and ideal location make it that way. I can't wait to start this life-changing journey at St. John's University, where I'll get an amazing education and join a community of people committed to changing the world. As a prospective student who is passionate about majoring in biology, obtaining a nursing license, and being an embodiment of hope for others, this journey at St. John's University of growth, impact, and discovery will be inspiring. I'm sure that having a scholarship will help me accomplish not just my academic and career objectives, but also the service, compassion, and resiliency that characterize the St. John's University community.
Morgan Levine Dolan Community Service Scholarship
As a high school student who will soon be entering college— a new aspect of my life, I’ve always had a plan for what I want my future to look like because I am very persistent and future-oriented. This year of 2024 I’ve forced myself entirely to my future. I’ve set personal and professional goals for myself to achieve. Some personal goals are building my relationship with God, reading way more, getting my driver's license, and even just prioritizing myself by remaining still to give myself time to rest my mind. Some professional goals I have are getting accepted to my top colleges, receiving scholarships, getting admitted into a nursing program to pursue my career, and of course, becoming a labor and delivery nurse that I’ve always wanted to be. Community service is very important as you learn things about others which helps you learn things about yourself. it helps you get out there and make the community/environment a better place. I believe I make my school environment a better place with the service I provide. I am a peer leader who mentors 9th graders. I can help make 9th graders comfortable with transitioning from middle school to high school and helping them build real-world skills and academic skills to succeed throughout high school and in my life in general. I am also a part of the National Honors Society as a high achieving academic student and senior coordinating/yearbook where I help with all senior events and any organization to make sure seniors enjoy their last year of high school as best as possible. I also contribute by playing sports that build my time management as I have to balance school, sports, and extracurriculars. Lastly and most importantly, student council—I am a public voice for the upper class as I make sure that the needs of the students are met. I believe my impact on society as a whole is very beneficial and very bright. I’ve always been told that when my presence isn’t there, it makes a difference in groups. My presence brings a big significance. As for financial needs, I am a student in the Bronx borough who is a part of the low-income range. I believe that my financial needs are important because I want to make something out of my life. I want to help society as a whole even more and as a nurse, I can be a major factor in people’s lives. More specifically, as a labor and delivery nurse, I am to be a major factor in mothers’ and babies' lives as mothers experience a big moment in their lives. The medical field is so fascinating to me because there are so many different specialties and all bring something to the table to make the environment better. I want to be a part of that efficiency. With this scholarship, not only is it able to help with expenses, such as books, housing, or even transportation but helps my path toward college completion and gives me the chance to build a financially sustainable and fulfilling future.
