Bio

My life goals so far are to go to college to major in radiology. I have always felt the need to help people, so radiology felt right. I also love to volunteer when possible. After college, I see myself working at a hospital and settling down at some point to have a family. Between all my goals, I hope to be financially successful and give my children the life I may not have had. When I am financially stable, I also would love to donate to different charities and give back to my community.

    Elevate Women in Technology Scholarship
There are so many different technologies that have been invented. Many are important and change lives, others are just a way for people to start using their phones. Out of technology resources, I believe medical technology is the most important. Medical technology has advanced in so many ways and already saves lives. This type of technology will make the world a better place because it already has. When you go to the hospital, they can keep track of your medical records in the snap of a finger. If they are able to see out medical records fast, it will help another doctor know if the patient has allergies or health problems. It has also improved diagnosis and treatment. Medical Technology gives doctors a chance to give an early and accurate diagnosis. Even surgical procedures are done by using some technology. We rely on this greatly, so if the world was to shut down all technology, hospitals would be going through a crisis. At this point of advancement, we need this technology.

On a beautiful perfect day, the sky is blue, everyone is smiling, and there is no negativity to be seen. Now that is a perfect day, but my days growing were not always like that. I grew up in a home where we struggled with money and my dad was abusive. His abuse was not always physical, most of the time it was more mental. This then caused me to develop mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. I have always dealt with depression well though. I cry a lot and then about an hour later I am much better. My anxiety though, I have had to be on medication because it can get out of hand. Through all of my mental health experience, I have not lost much. One boyfriend did break up with me because my anxiety was too much for him, but young boys will say whatever they can to get out of something. I have gotten closer with god after that break up though. So my mental health has led me good and bad. In the end, I have not let much keep me back from what I strive for. I work hard for what I want and try my best to keep my personal feelings out. When needed, I let it all out and then try to move on and be happy again.

I have always felt the need to help others. I also knew I wanted to be some kind of doctor, but I do not like the sight of blood. Radiology just seemed to be the best fit for me, plus it seems like so much fun. Going on four years now, I have been fighting knee issues. It all started when I dislocated my knee cap on a trampoline. I then dislocated my knee cap 3 more times. I have needed multiple X-Ray's, MRI's, and Physical Therapy. Right now I am even healing from knee surgery. During the whole journey I found a passion for radiology. Throughout my high school years I have participated in a few activities. I am a part of my high school drill team, but cannot dance because of my knee surgery. I have been awarded second place at a dance competition in Dallas, Texas and I am the Social Officer Sargent. I also became an ASL Club Treasurer and have been a big part in FFA. I joined the Student Council my sophomore and junior year. To top it all off, in my spare time, I volunteer whenever possible.
Science Fiction Becomes Science Fact Scholarship
As one who has a brother that plays on the PS4 every chance he has, I see the unfortunate effects that online gaming has. People are not able to interact face to face with others online. Gaming in general has disadvantages such as limiting academic progress, bullying, violence, and addiction. Humans are meant to interact with others in a real life environment. One of the important aspects to life is socialization. Studies have been conducted over the difference between people addicted to computer games and people who are not on the computer much. The results of the study showed that there is a significant difference between the social skills of these two different groups. The results showed that people who do not get on the computer often have a higher level of social skills compared to others who are addicted. This means that the people who are addicted to online gaming do not show much social interaction with others in person. This can be really bad depending on the level of addiction. Gaming may be fun, but the outcome is not. So what now? If you are a parent of one who games a lot, watch out for them. Observe their interaction with others, if you see them lacking social interaction, step up and help them. We can not be the ones to blame if we did not invent the technology and games, but we can step up and make a better change.
