    I Can Do Anything Scholarship
The dream version of my future self is a successful and fulfilled individual making a positive impact in the world.
    Douglass M. Hamilton Memorial Scholarship
My name is Dakota Rentz. I am the son of a former bartender and the son of a former car salesman. As you are reading this I will have just turned 17. Yet 15 years ago my life and my family's life would change. My father's choices would cause an earthquake in our family life. We use to be a family that made incredible money 6 figures yet. My father's addictions would bring him to new lowsCausing my mother to find the environment we lived in to not be safe for a 4-year-old that 4-year-old being my sister and myself being just 2 years old. Along with triplets on the way. We moved into my mom's parents' house. Unfortunately, my mom never had the time to pursue higher education. Nor with 3 young children was there time or money to go to college. Without many choices, my mom worked random odd jobs to make ends meet. As we were growing up. This would put us in many odd situations like clothes were only gotten from family members passing it down. The only vacation we would take is a weekend trip once a year to either Tillamook or Sidesea. The number one obstacle this presented well growing up was my ability to try things. Due to the limits of funds at our disposal growing up with 2 other siblings as well. They were was never enough money for me to go out and try everything. So I made with what we had. I would take any chance I could get to try new things. Travel see the world and explore. To overcome the financial wall. As soon as I could find a job I started working. Trying to attain as much money as I could to help build some funds for me to go to college! Over the summer I worked hard to start building my fund. As well I have been working throughout the school year to build my college fund higher. With this scholarship, I plan to forward my education as it stands in the computer science space. As I have grown to find I love computer science. As it gives me a way to do so many interesting things. Like building my website for my forestry class. Or building small games for the final project of my coding class. In conclusion, I believe if I received this scholarship I could forward my education and seek a high-paying job in the future. Thank you for this opportunity.

What really does happen? When writing a scholarship essay, the goal Is to tell a personal story. Yet when telling personal stories emotions can come out in full force which can be scary. With that in mind, I will present a story from a different side of drunk driving. Hi, I am the son of a drunk driver the son of a man with 3 DUIs on his record. This is an unimaginable thing that no one should have to deal with. My father was unable to drive with anyone in the car. And only allowed to drive to work. Yet I believe even that was a lot. For someone with 3 Duis, I don't believe he should have been allowed to drive at all. Until he really did past his AA meeting. He would go to them but class after class. It never worked and my dad would still drink a lot. I believe the court really should take driver's licenses. Unless you're going to your classes and showing progression it's not enough to just go to classes and not learn from your mistakes. We as a society lose too many people to drunk driving. Employing classes that require results of lessening drinking should be required. As well as checking in from time to time once they have passed they class should also happen.
